    Where: Kapalua, Hawaii

    When: January 5th – 8th

    Course: Plantation Course | Par 73 with 3 par 3s and 4 par 5s | 7411 Yards

Last Year’s Winner: Jordan Spieth with a score of -30

    • This is a tournament of the previous year’s champions I believe. Last year, there were 33 golfers in this event, which included Jim Furyk, who didn’t play due to injury. This is also a NO CUT event.

    Coverage: Golf Channel in primetime.

Doug kick him off the tour.

    Are you in Boise?

This is another contest where I am less worried about duplicates (not that it ever worries me much) because if you leave much money on the table, you cannot roster the higher end players very well. I just accept winning LU’s will have duplicates. Nature of the beast with this style and size of tournaments.

Just go 100% on Greg Chalmers.

You should be close to unique after that.

Played a few Golf contests last year but nothing major. I want to get into it and I feel like this week would be a good teether.

Where do people usually go for resources? Obviously RG stuff and there are podcast etc., then I would go on PGA Tour website for some info on the course etc. Are there any other resources I would really need to have a good go at it.

I would probably just play 5-10 LUs in small GPPs at the low buy in level

  • krighton

December DK Silver Tournament is Golf….should be interesting. Im guessing there won’t be alot of people prepared to play in a Golf DFS.

For podcasts I like Fantasy Golf Degenerates, Tour Junkies and Pat Mayo. How seriously you want to utilize them in your picks is up to you. At the very least all three are very entertaining.

Couldnt agree more…….Lets show people a great RG start to the season.

I dont know if I missed it or did DK have a quarter arcade?? the Gpp’s were relatively hi to start and they are filling nicely. new quarter games are satalites to the birdie and dogleg.

anyone interested in RG golf thread tournies? Should I make more contests, we want more people.

Time for a new year and ready for GOLF to get fired back up. I have missed it over the last month. So I take it Mats will be highest owned golfer this week, mostly due to end of year form and Vegas loves him?

  • krighton

do people find Golf easier to win than other DFS sports…i know people seem to love MLB at least in the beginning. Bit of trivia, I used to play EA Sports Tiger Woods Online in the 90s…i was #10 in the world and was flown to Austin to watch the Players Championship. I busted hard but still fun. I think the winner got $10,000

With no cut the advantage of stronger players is mitigated. Pretty much anybody can pick 6 guys who are playing and with a 32-man field any combination that uses most of the salary is pretty reasonable. Hopefully there will be at least a little action given to the several superstars who are sitting out, creating dead lineups, but I don’t think there’s a ton of edge to be had this week.

There was a $3K one earlier with a 14.1K entry pool. I got in that one. I see another one, same pot/pool just started up.

Would love for you to check out our Podcast and website here SelfCharmer http://bit.ly/TJEpisodes

We do strive to be entertaining, but we work our ass off in researching the course and players. Plus, we keep pretty close ties with some caddies and players out on TOUR that give us some key information week to week.

Would love for your free advert to go away.

I am disappointed by the reduction in golf dfs, but will play anyway and give it my best shot.

Good luck to all who play.

I dont know if I find it easier to win but

I find it easier to do max/multi LU’s. I think Max LU is the way to success in DFS.
I find that statistics and stats comparison is easier than other sports. but i must say that I dont drill down where “knowledgable” fans and competition make it much more complicated.
I find that Golf is the best value for your $$ – 4 day competition. like day 1 and start, day 2 cut day can be nervewracking. day 3 is moving day and if your in the hunt on day 4, well every drive, chip and putt changes your position. Its the greatest fantasy game in the world.

    can anyone argue against Mats.

We should start a pool to see who comes closest on his ownership in the Birdie.
    Im going 63.3%
His ownership in the RG Golf thread Happy meal will be 85%

If hes going to be 63.3% I might just fade him completely and load up on DJ/Speeth/Day/FatPat

I’ve found that one of my major DFS leaks is I get a guy into my head prior to doing any research, then find a way to justify him. They tend to flop when I play them and then pop as soon as I fade them.

Who is occupying that space in my head this week?

    Pat Perez!

He can get it out there pretty good, seems healthy and finished the year playing well.

Arizona born and bred should be able to handle grainy greens, avoid the 3 jacks.

I’m guessing qualifying for the event is a big deal to him. Thinking he might be highly motivated for all four days.

Just from memory, big misses to the left are more penal on the Plantation course. His big miss off the tee is right.

    Boom or Bust?

sometimes the biggest problems with overwhelming favorites is that you need to bite the bullet and accept them.
Did he or did he not DESTROY the competition at the HERO. This course is suited to him. He is in a zone over the last 2 months. andin a no cut event the only landmine is if he withdraws or gets DQ’d.

    thats just my take…

bad trip you are too funny

give us a reason why you dont win, then go ahead and repeat. I like the process. find a reason for a “longshot” to go big. It sure is nice when you get one right. Good Luck

The common and prototypical Confirmation Bias errors.
Read up on the different types and it should help your inductive reasoning process.
In my opinion this is the most common and blatant error in DFS
