Yea that’s true. I guess if they didn’t birdie, that would’ve been bad.

The par 5 5th looks really easy, so hopefully Brooks can birdie this…maybe eagle with a good approach? Or he might just double bogey knowing him.

    Not Henley. He stinks

What time is this live. 6 est again?

  • Mizzou311

BIF I’m sure you know this course better than most. Can you explain why these guys just aren’t ripping drivers 300+ yards on the par 5 5th. Doesn’t appear to be too much trouble in the landing areas, so I guess I’m assuming maybe they are and that tee shot is uphill or into the wind or both…….?

Could be because it’s a dogleg right so you don’t necessarily want to hit it super far (you want to angle yourself to the hole).

Anyways, Spieth has a very good chance (50%+) at a streak now IMO.

Brooks just tried to drive the green and he hit it in the “native area”…

  • Dewoc19

I too was wondering why they aren’t just ripping drivers 300+ I mean clearly that ball travels here so why not just pound it out there and have a shorter approach. Longer you go the more you take out that native area

I watched a flyover video and looks like its an uphill landing area….on a side note looks like chalk Spieth is screwing up this easy par 5 and ruining a potential streak.

  • Dewoc19

Spieth into the native area for a penalty on the par 5, no streak

Things that are more likely to happen

    Trump becomes president
    You turn into a women
    Koepka shoots under par

  • tracermat

Positive note – Brooksy is the only golfer on the course under par! So I guess there is that

Not sure as I didn’t see the front nine yesterday. My guess is they either want a certain angle in or else any further leaves a downhill lie. These guys know how to attack courses and when all the long guys are laying back, there is a reason. If some lay back and some don’t it’s risk/reward tradeoff but if all are doing it – it’s legit.

At least Spieth’s scorecard is a fantasy friendly and colourful today

Yes, yesterday JT didn’t even take driver on 5.. if I remember right the fairway slopes toward the native area the further down and straight you can risk going to far.
