JT and Jordan can be on the same team, but you’ll have to settle with ryan armour as well

Well yea that’s not exactly a +EV strategy unless JT/Jordan get 1 and the other gets top 3. I suppose that’s possible actually.

  • Jamcclea

Everyone I’m reading and listening to is touting Spieth. Can’t wait to see what his ownership ends up being.

    I’m 80% on him fwiw.

Both JT and Jordan have a chance of securing world #1 in this tournament. I don’t know how much that affects their performance though…

If he is actually pain free and remains healthy, 85%

I hope so. Golf is so much better when he is competitive imo. It’s hard to believe it is even possible there used to be Tiger vs the field bets with Tiger as the favorite and it was a good bet.

Spieth has the best approach game since Tiger Woods. That is, until Tiger Woods regains the best approach game in June/July.

Hideki is close when he’s on.

That’s true. I also need to deduct that huge Masters fail at 12 for Speith. That probably moves him down 20-30 rankings.

Hideki lines up well with the aforementioned key stats as well. With the exception of putting, of course. Yuck!

    Matsuyama Stats 2017* ($9.8K DK):
    SG OTT: 26th
    SG APP: 7th
    BoB%: 3rd
    SG ARG: 24th
    SG PUTT: 173rd
    Par 5 Scoring: 1st
    Par 4 Scoring: 4th

Hideki is a high variance golfer because it seems like when he’s off, he can’t correct it for some reason. When he’s on, he’s so good (Firestone). I’m hoping he’s on this week.

  • dangasin

Wow Hideki sg putting is horrible. If he were number 1 in the other SG categories it would be a different case.

FanDuel eagle already filled. Should have been at least $50k. Instead of 15k

I would actually play FD Golf but they don’t want to make it exciting.. small contests.. no satellites to anything exciting.. they make enough money to just not care I guess

I was at Firestone and followed Hideki for a while on the last day. Just goddamn insane to watch.

Yes. I’ve certainly seen him drain some putts. He almost seems unstoppable when it’s going down… Firestone a good tourney to reference

EDIT: Hideki was 26th in SG PUTT at Firestone WGC Bridgestone Results

Matsuyama 2017 WGC Bridgestone SG Stats:
#1 in SG Around the Green (+5.8)
    #5 in SG Approach (+5.7)
    #13 in SG Driving (+2.3)
    #26 in SG Putting (+2.1)

Oh yea I was just talking about the variance of his SG: ball striking stats, not even his putting. I’ve just realized Hideki is simply bad at putting and you just live with it (kinda like RWB will steal Adams’ rebounds you just live with it if Adams only got 5 rebounds).

I think his SG: ball striking stats were insane at Firestone. Might be best of the year relative to the field (the SG: Total stat – SG: putting whatever that’s called)?

EDIT: Is that called SG: Tee to Green?

26th is really not bad though, if he was #1 in Appraoch and #1 in ott, it would be really difficult to be #1 in putting as well (you can’t really do any better than 1 putt from 4 feet away)

Looking forward for golf to start but am holding back a bit until next week. Rather spend more money on the Sony and South African Opens.

Yea you are right, that is pretty damn good actually. That means he was pouring in 15-20 foot putts as well

    holding

Of course, but the new season is upon us! I never have a ton down, but enjoy the research. Just hoping to eventually take down a small single-entry GPP. I’m definitely staying SE this week with the limited field an no cut.

EDIT: That quote didn’t quite work out.

How about Bryson Dechambeau? He has been playing solid enough

  • dangasin

The only concern I have about Bryson though, he just can’t putt like a normal human being. Does anyone remember the alien from first men in black, he takes over the farmer’s body and is all awkward? That is how Bryson is with the putter

  • nicholasmarsh

    @dangasin said...

I’ve flirted with the idea of throwing him in as he’s a bit more of a wild-card than others that are similarly priced. His “key stats” for the week don’t exactly pop. I’ll post the key stats, but imagine you guys are sick of that at this point. I’ve covered just about everyone. Ha-ha…

    DeChambeau Stats 2017* ($7.0K DK):
    SG OTT: 35th
    SG APP: 105th
    BoB%: 87th
    SG ARG: 106th
    SG PUTT: 146th
    Par 5 Scoring: 69th
    Par 4 Scoring: 95th

EDIT: At least he’s been a better putter than Hideki? Maybe if he tried a normal approach to putting, he’d do better? Bah… I coach myself too :)

By default yes. There aren’t many choices in that range, and he’s one of the better ones. This is especially true if you don’t want to go balanced.
