Two weeks away, but let’s get the golf talk started.

It’s almost here!!! Sorry LFN but that EURO stuff leading up to this doesn’t cut it for me.

Biggest question for me this year is… will Spieth have his shit together or will we have to put up with his atrocious putting and all around game last year?

  • timusbr

Its not just missing golf its missing DFS for me. NFL is picked in a few hours. Lets face it after 16 weeks we know who scores fantasy points and who doesnt and its just too quick to pick a team in every contest. Cant play DFS NBA or NHL because I know way less than the casual fan. My goto plan on these sports is to use my local Chitown players and they are all in the standings basement. LOL, NHL was really cool when the Blackhawks were #1. NCAA Football bowl season is the only game in town.

How about a list, name the best 3 golfers today. The guy who has good distance off the tee, good accuracy not to get into trouble, ability to use irons that saves a bad tee or can throw a dart at the pin, then can putt on any surface and gain on the field in SGP.

I think I will choose Justin Rose, Brooks Keopka, and I hate to but think I have to use Bryson Dechamwow.

wow what a different list from years gone by…..what happened to the DJ’s Spieths, Thomas ….and too many more to mention. Golf has exploded with talent at the high level. It is going to be a great season.

Tough for me to put it together.

I agree on Big Ol Brooksy. From there it’s a little tough for me tbh. I think I would have to throw Rose in there too right now because every time I look up stats he comes out near the top at just about any course. This is probably Ryder Cup bias but I might have to throw Fleetwood in there. I would say Molinari but he struggled near the end. Too many Euros for my liking so the US guys need to step it up!!!

    Hey guys,

I have a league that starts Jan 3rd and runs through the TOUR champ. $100 Buy in. Draftkings is what we use to make lineups (free entry contest). Each week, depending on where you finish, you receive “fedexcup” pts, just like the PGA tour concept. Most pts after the playoffs, wins. There’s weekly bonus pts for no cut lineup or picking the winner in your lineup. I have a full page of rules and guidelines that I could send you personally, if interested. I am a very reliable and trustworthy person. Can prove anything you want to know. Even screenshots of payouts for previous years winners, etc… Looking to make this a 20 man max, 8 man minimum.

I also have a one and done league, same price.

Message me personally or get back to me here!

    Thanks

Any of you guys in Gup’s Corner’s GCCup 2019? First year doing it – it’s a pretty cool format. Two leagues Gold and Platinum.

Platinum filled, but still spots left in Gold.

    Merry Christmas golf forumites!

Salaries are out! Looking forward to another year of being disappointed by Rickie Fowler and making mediocre picks!

Does anybody use Fantasy Golf National? How is it?

Are the Gups Corner really all full? Had never heard about this contest till now. Would of loved it.

    Cross-post

Who in the RG forum plays Yahoo Fantasy Golf?

I am considering opening a monthly-type “league” contest there like I did for the Links and Turkey and Oktoberfest events.

PGA only, all 5 January PGA events, Yahoo! scoring system. All scores count.

I am trying to gauge interest and determine how big to make the league. Tentative price: $5 (so the equivalent of another Happy Meal contest).

Who’s interested? Will post the rules/details in the other thread.

Certainly interested now that the Yahoo BR has been increased these past few weekends with their excellent offerings! PGA hasn’t been good for me there though but I can only get better.

    Salaries out

    Only 37 players – yawn

I’ll throw in one entry for it because I’m in golf-withdrawal and then I’m headed to Mexico the week after for a few weeks so won’t be playing until the first tourney in Feb.

Hope y’all had a good Christmas

  • mtdurham

Niiiiice a small field event to start us off!

Man I’m ecstatic about golf being back… what a great sport with that short off-season.

I remember early on Dunzor said that every Thursday morning at work was sorta like Christmas because of PGA DFS… but that the actual week of Christmas has no golf, making it a suboptimal holiday LOL!

Yes sir, I cannot wait for my weekly golf to get going again, though this first tourney is more of an appetizer than a main course with the small field / no cut. I’ll probably have 1 lineup this week and put most of my sweating focus on the NFL playoff games now that I am in range of a casino where I can place legal sports bets.

  • Tsrobertson

I played here two weeks ago while on vacation.

Gorgeous course that is entirely wind dependent. Fairways are huge for what these guys are used to and really not a lot of trouble to find around the course. I also didn’t find it to be very long for a course they play. (Obviously knowing they go way back on tee boxes)

I will wait for a good wind forecast before making picks but if it’s relatively calm this course for sure favors the bombers. Real long drives can put you in some pretty easy approach shots here and while a couple holes had so tricky greens they were mostly straightforward.

  • DeadBenjamin

So what are some others thoughts & reasoning on correlating courses and tournaments to look at?

I’ll go with some similar scoring averages, birdie rates, etc… from last couple seasons as well as no-cut events for the DK points angle.

    SIMILAR SCORING CONDITIONS
    TPC Kuala Lumpur (CIMB)
    Aronimink (BMW)
    Sedgefield (Wyndham)
    Glen Abbey (Canadian)
    TPC Deere Run (John Deere)
    Trinity Forest (Byron Nelson)
    GC of Houston (Houston Open)
    PGA West Courses (CareerBuilder)
    Waialae (Sony)
    Kapalua Plantation (T.O.C.)

Also, Keene Trace (Barbasol) & Sea Island Plantation (1 round @ RSM, but Seaside Course is up there too) fit the bill.

    No-Cut, 4-Round Events
    Hero World Challenge
    WGC-China
    CJ Cup
    CIMB
    Tour Championship
    BMW
    WGC-Bridgestone
    WGC-Mexico
    T.O.C.

FWIW, from a SG perspective, Glen Abbey, Houston & TPC Scottsdale had the biggest Tee2Green correlations from last season, but there really isn’t a significant amount of data involved with that (10-15 players overlapped with T.O.C.)
