The Iron Man is worth a lot more than $44 if you are a small timer like me who normally resides in Gold territory. Last time I was Diamond it was well over $50 more valuable than Gold, anyway. It was worth about $100 to me. I didn’t see the $1 limit, but I’m shocked they’ve not gotten wise to that sooner. I’m on pace to get the NBA iron man without ever playing anything but dimes and quarters. Also, if the iron man runs through 8/30, then you can miss up to 20 days and still hit it (152 total rounds); that’s more forgiving than MLB and NBA has been.

I have not done the math on the 132 rounds but there is no showdown for the 5 day Match Play so there is 4 days that don’t count – also I doubt they’ll have any DFS for the NEw Orleans partnered event (as they didn’t last year) so there is 4 more days not counting. With those events factored in I don’t think there is that many extra days in the 132

LMAO BiF wishes the TOC should be at the end of Dec. Like the second day of January is any different :o)

    🙄

Not end of December – just wish it was somewhere in the stupid novelty season after the Fall Swing then they can have their December/Christmas break and EVERYONE has the chance to play when they start up again in January.

  • Cincinnatibuck

Yes there was, I have the results saved but just have not had the chance to update. Will get updated sometime this week.

Well those achievements suck – the birdie ones are a fraction of what paid out last year and the Ironman (despite being a decent crowns payout) sucks as it forces you to play Round 2 and Round 4 showdown plus Round 3 or Weekend every week.

25K crowns is basically a $44 ticket in value so if you didn’t already play Showdown, you’ll will need to spend (over and above your 4-day Classic entries) another $99 on R2-R4 Showdown or Weekend and never miss a day to collect the $44 ticket value for the achievement. DK is raking $15 off your $99 and giving you back $44.

This sucks for me as I travel into DK restricted areas in Mexico and Nevada obwr the next couple months for some of those tournies. Wish they didn’t start these for a couple months.

I estimate 34 weeks and 4 days per week = 136 possible days.
You can only miss 3 days. I think the matchplay is 5 days, A shortened event is not impossible. It seems like an awfully aggressive Ironman. Is that standard for baseball basketball and hockey?

I played showdown every week but rarely played 4 days. I liked day 2, day 4, and anyday the weather was an issue. I just dont see myself getting all of them. I could see a scenario that its not an achievable goal. Some terrorist attack the week of an event and whoops 4 days cancelled.

I think the dime entries still count for birdies and such, but not the ironman and daily golfer.
What a bunch of cheap asses to award 500 crowns for rostering an albatross. less than a handful each season and I would guess 2 last year.

it looks like they lowered the crowns awarded in total for completing the max achievements. I got close to 50K last year and it looks closer to 15K this year. (because I wont get the ironman..say 100 days is the level I get).

I liked the total score game they played where the best 10 scores counted. I hope they still do that. Its been some time since they did the leagues contest. I am ready for 50 more entries and some free money.

Is this the golf Festivus thread?

Of course it would be nice to have a full field event, but we get one next week. The Plantation Course is gorgeous to view on TV. It is also a treat to have golf on in prime time.
DK’s reward program sucks so bad I don’t even pay attention to it. I maintained supernova status on poker stars for a couple years. That was hundreds of dollars a month getting kicked back, with no silly requirements to play a different variant or stake or what ever.

Golf in prime time is nice if I was working this week – now I’m just waiting longer…..

Agree, this is a beautiful course and looks great on TV, the undulations and elevation changes are insane here. I’ve talked to a couple caddies and they say this is one of the toughest weeks of the year on them even if it’s not windy or raining.

Do any of you want a sneak preview of what my Masters viewing party will look like this year?

  • timusbr

Yes, I live vicariously thru you guys.

  • lfn1992

You know… if the Fantasy Golf Achievements includes EURO contests, that would increase the number of qualifying events for the Ironman. Because you’d get a handful events that lock on Wedesdays. That could open up six or seven extra days (at least) of Ironman qualifying days. The British events wouldn’t do that but I think all the “Desert Swing” events, and the Far East Four (Indian Open, Maybank, China Open, WGC-HSBC Champions) would.

It would also explain the curious wording that explains that the “definition of day” equals 12:00:00 AM ET-11:59:59PM ET. There would be some Wednesdays in there.

That would be a surprise to me. The dime contests definitely got me to my first ever Diamond level, thanks to baseball. (I spent the whole season improving from horrible to just sub-mediocre. But thanks to dime contests, it didn’t cost that much.)

Also can confirm that while 25,000/550 = $45.45 (repeating), the difference between Gold and Diamond is a bit more than that.

Finally, kind of agree with the forum: Overall, the PGA bonuses aren’t so good. And it’s going to be more of a beach to get that Ironman than it is in hockey or roundball.

Well I built one lineup this week just to have something to follow but like most I’ll be waiting for the full field to really start the 2020 season. Good luck everyone and let’s hope 2020 is a great year for the whole forum. I think we’re gonna have multiple big gpp winners here this year and I plan to be among them!

  • MGoHarbaugh

Does anyone play PGA on FantasyDraft? I like their setup. Pick 7 golfers, lowest score is dropped. Heavier weight on scoring vs finishing position compared to DK.

Their main GPP is pretty small this week, wondering if that will increase for full field events?

plenty of people are going to go after it and end up missing too many days

+EV for DK as a result

I’m debating whether to even try in the beginning. If it only required a quarter or a dime each day, I’d definitely try.

    Yes.

Here are the last ‘Tour Card’ contests I played there:

I assume sizes will be similar in 2020.

The Tour Card is $25 entry and is their primary GPP each week.

I am not going to try to get it but I will probably enter more at the beginning just because its a dollar. Most weeks even thou I am a .50 cent. qtr max entry guy, I generally have some higher bets. On showdown I usually go more single entry and cover the $1. Its just a matter of how often I am willing to play. I was OK before not playing many of the showdown days. (Economics and the thought my bets are already placed and dont need to be pressed). Not to mention I just dont like the weekend game (last 2 days)

Wow The Happy meal currently has 67 of 75. lots of names from the past and some new ones. Seeing some of them, I really hope they chime in on the thread.

I always assumed that Vegas was an efficient market the way the stock market is (although also don’t entirely think the stock market is either), so didn’t bother much with it. But destroyed it in football this year – so working on automating that and now looking into more sports – particularly baseball since I am pretty sure I have a very good algo there. As a result, didn’t play as much DFS.

Working now to get the golf DB up to speed and have some new ideas for it too.

Since they dropped trading fees for equities trading, I am building up a DB for that too since I had a ton of algos for that years ago, but they needed more starting capital – but without fees it requires way less.

Also SBRForum banned me bc my username was “diarrhea” which is dumb since tons of their users are like “SwingingJohnson” and “HorseDick”. Didn’t even post yet.

Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

I know I’m a hypocrite but must post my west coast swing grievance. College basketball! Every freaking time golf is supposed to start at 2:00, there will be second rate basketball on my TV for an additional 20 minutes before the golf comes on. Start them earlier or cut out half time.

Happy New Year fellas! Bring on the new decade … threw a few lineups in for fun but can’t wait for next week already. The full field no cut golf layoff is brutal … bit my wife and kids love it 😂 … well for 2019 I sucked at the start … hit a good groove in the middle … and got torched on the last leg. I noticed I did best in the 120-ish fields with a cut so I need to figure out how to better handle the larger fields and no cuts were my worst by far. Hoping 1 year wiser will bring good tidings for 2020 and wishing all of you a successful and prosperous year ahead. I want to see this forum break records for tournament takedowns and winnings! I have three LU’s going with fewer entries in larger buy-ins (think it was Felixxberg brought that good advice up) so three $8 vs. eight $3 LU’s

15 players and only three more than once (twice actually) for this no-cut but will tighten it up for full field events

Checkers or wreckers as we say in racing lol

New Year new strategies so will be interesting to see how long this resolution lasts :)

Hope he doesn’t on Yahoo as I am finally getting to play there from Missouri :)

Gonna play the $5 SE with the Cup LU game I always could play since it was free

As for the FantasyDraft I got pissed at them and put myself on the do not play list and never missed them
