    Doesn’t his putting scare you?

even though he is in the bottom third of putting stats in the field, I believe if his iron play is good, he is at the top, he actually has been putting well in my opinion, just leaves himself 20’ + too often and the greens in Australia were faster than Augusta which skews the stats, so his putting does not downgrade him too much in my model

Dunzor – Interested on your thoughts on DJ and Conners?

This course is one where there are gonna be lots of chances for birdies with all the par 5s, so I’m not so worried about using great putters here as much as I might on a tighter course.

As for DJ & Connors, obviously the course sets up well for DJ, but he still hasn’t looked quite right to me since his injury and shaky play through the end of 2019 so I went for the other expensive guys over him as I liked them more. Connors is a decent option if you need someone cheap, but I tend to like him more on courses that are more focused on the approach game / 2nd shot courses, whereas this course is one of the biggest open bomber courses they play all year and I don’t know if I trust Connors to be able to bomb and gauge with the best of them.

The wild card this year is going to be the wind. In years past this course was a bomber’s paradise with birdies in bunches, but if the wind is howling I’m not sure if that will be the case again or if we see more of an accuracy / control shift this year.

Woodland for me, though if I was ranking all 3 it would be Woodland > Casey > Fowler

    Winner: JT
    Fade: Woodland
    Sleeper: JB

Finally some good golf on tap! I haven’t done too much work on this other than fiddle with my optimizers. Going with the one lineup approach this week. GL boyz.

    Winner: Cantlay
    Fade: Casey
    Sleeper: Conners

    Thoughts on Corey Conners?

His putting concerns me in a tournament that is likely a birdie fest (putting contest) – great ball striker though.

Playing well recently, I have 30%

By recently, you mean in Asia back in October ?

After 2 months off from tournament golf for almost all of these guys, I’ve just thrown away all recent form info and just tried to line up a little course fit based on what I think is needed here against player’s strengths/weaknesses and then threw a few darts as well.

This one feels like a lot more of a crap shoot than most weeks.

Next week is even more of a crap shoot. 144 player field vs 34. A bunch of new players off the Korn Ferry Tour. But yeah this week is also a complete crap shoot as you said. No idea how much any of these guys have been preparing. Although I go on the basis that they are all professionals, they all want to win, and they all realize this week will probably be the easiest shot they have all year at an official PGA win due to the small field size.

Between Max Homa (63,000) and Lanto Griffin (65,000) for my punt play.
Can someone talk me out of either before this happens ?

Am I missing something on Xander? No one ever seems to talk him up, perennially under the radar. Last round he played here he absolutely owned the course.

Just for a sec of entertainment value while we wait on Hawaii. Thought this might be kind of funny.

I can’t decide whether to embrace Frittelli or not. I have a feeling that sixth guy is going to make or break people’s slates. But I can’t save enough salary to make an easy switch from him.

    Shotgun approach to the winner?

I’m with you on Kang, though.

  • JdotBrone

Lol something like that. If one of the three hits and I can say “See i was on him from the beginning!”

Im 100% Kang which will likely burn me but yolo.
