Question here about cut making and just how often the situation I ran into actually happening. Last I got top 200 in the large small dollar contest on dk out of like 78k people with bozzelli missing the cut by 1 stroke bogeying 2 of his last 3 holes, yes, very tilting. I had points at .9 % and dechambeau at 10% which probably helped, but especially in a very good scoring week in terms of birdies and overall scores. Have any of you ever finished that highly with a guy missing a cut? I usually write off the missed cut lineups as ones I dont even need to watch over the weekend.

My best finish with 5/6 was 21st last year at the Valero. Granted I had 1st, 2nd and three 4th’s.

Carlos Ortiz missed the cut by one. Had he not I most likely would have taken the whole thing down. Only saving grace from a full fledged tilt meltdown was I was traveling across state and was going in and out of service.

the second for guys that need to do well to make the Masters (CHIII).

Isn’t the only way to qualify for the masters to win the tournament this week, or can you qualify some other way based on fedex points or owgr or something?

  • Quadhole

How close is FF’s Projection %‘s ? Will be interested in watching. Love some of the professional Stat builders… GPP models… Really helps…

I think I have seen something similiar this week more than twice. Was all of it you lfn?

needs to do well to make the masters….. That statement is crap, do do, not relevant in my thinking. Yes all pro’s want to be in the field. I am not sure what criteria will help people get invites. The winner here does, the top 50 in world rankings do.

I doubt any player is saying I need to do well to get in the masters. Its almost a done deal. Goal of Masters 2017 not made. moving forward to be the best they can.

    1) I agree that you should not discountthis week based on the event next week is important. Players have there cycle/progression that they follow, that they think benefits themselves.

    2) I dont agree with your assumption but like CH3, Now Ian Poulter needs 133K in next two events to keep his card. That is someone who Needs to do well. ( but that philosophy didnt help last week on an ez field.

    3) I Dont like Points but wouldnt argue with someone who does. Some reasons to like. I found that Campos did well here last year or the year before. He is an intrigueing pick… If you like his game last week, meaning he is on FORM.

Yes if you are not in the field right now winning in Houston is the only way to get in.

I think all ownership projections are bogus. But that is Me. When I seriously question it, The projection wasnt even close. I am sure other people have good things to say about it.. and for them they are right.

last week we had someone post RG ownership projections and I went and found TFF’s projections but in the time it took, Those posts were deleted, Reasoning was – Thats what I was told to do, and I assume because it was “premium service” info. From what I saw they were not close to each other and So So to actual. within a hand grenade, I guess.

If CHIII or Finau wins or go 1-2, won’t they have enough WGO rating to be Top 50?

Finau is WGO rating of 72. Theoretically a T5 finish might be enough, no?

  • noddy

What do CHIII and Finau have to do to get in?

  • WidumBoise

Has there been a line change on Tony Finau to win the golfing event outright?

Looks like he has jumped in my model.

  • noddy

Just because someone or a team has to win doesn’t mean they will. Teams in must win games lose all the time

No, they are set the week before the Masters not the week of. The only way you get in is if you win this week.

I’ve also seen it elsewhere, but to me, it just makes sense that guys like CHIII are saying to themselves “if I do well here, I can make the Masters”. I guess everyone down to Bowditch is also saying that too, though, which is I guess your point.

Also: the temptation is real for me to try to ride Campos again at $6700, since he won me money on the double-ups. Recent form obviously is good, without question. But then again, in terms of Campos, he did great essentially in his backyard in a very weak field.

“The 50 leaders on the Official World Golf Ranking published during the week prior to the current Masters Tournament” is the official verbiage. But couldn’t that mean a ranking on Sunday or Monday after this tourney? That’s how I took it.

No that’s not what that means. It means the only way you can get into the Masters if you aren’t already qualified is to win in Houston. There are 94 golfers in the field right now and can get to 95 if someone that is not qualified wins this week.

I’ve been referencing www.fansharesports.com recently to see ‘the most tagged golfers.’ Doesn’t necessarily give you ownership , but gives you an idea where the chalk is going to be. That’s really all that matters. Debating if a guy is going to be 12 or 9% owned is irrelevant IMO.

Maybe, I would need to look at the qualification list for Masters again. I am pretty sure that next Monday the OWGR will be updated through this weekend. What finishes by who is an interesting take. I dont know the answer or cant calculate the points off hand to tell.

Last week the PRO isnt a full fledged membership tourney with all the bells and whistles (one being no auto masters bid). Shell Houston is a full membership tourney and has the benefit. Top 50 OWGR is a qualification.

Thanks. Fair enough. Then anyone not already qualified, from Bowditch on up, has the dream of winning this week and then playing in the Masters. So incentive between non-Masters qualifiers is even – win or don’t go to Augusta.

That’s exactly right. Jim Herman did it last year.

Bernd Wiesberger 6700 this week (7100 in Masters)

My pick for best bargain of the week. OWGR of 41. A better golfer at this price is hard to find. LOL I am sure we all have some but…Just sayin

He has upside, and he can be a PIG. recent form is so so, Like Noren, he has done very well at times on the Euro tour. and also fell on his face in USA.

FanShare gives a good indication of who will likely be the highest owned golfers, if you guys haven’t checked it out I suggest you do… As of this afternoon the most “tagged” golfers on FanShare have been: Fowler, Henley, Mickelson, Finau, Holmes, Rahm, Spieth, RCB, Uihlein, C. Hoffman (in that order)
