Who’s likely to score and go underowned today? Anyone on Suarez

  • mookie336

Well, that was quite something. Shaktar not only huge undergogs, but missing a lot of players including 7 starters, are forced to play a bunch of teenagers from their youth team and beat Real in Madrid.

I reckon one of them Atalanta strikers.

I’m punting on Payet but that’s a long shot.

Can’t believe Liverpool starters got subbed

So how’s everyone doing in the single entry leaderboard contest(s)? I am at 126 in the $4.44. Other forums on here pull for other RG forum members. I figure we can do the same since there’s usually not much soccer talk.

What about Todays Europa League contests? Napoli, Real Soc, Rangers.. early

Tottenham on the later slate 100%

151st in the UCL $4,44 and 60th in the EPL $11,11.

I think I’ll just play the showdowns. Not sure how seriously the big clubs will take this competition. I expect lots of usual starters to be benched.

Where can I find info on assist rules for DK? I would’ve assumed Bale gets the assist for the 2nd goal(owngoal).

  • mookie336

Looks like it doesn’t count as an assist as Mane didn’t get one either yesterday. Weird, as it would be considered an assist pretty much in every major league, including Champions league and Europa league.

Damn, I could’ve used those points.

Assists are quite strict, but also a bit subjective. Own goals can’t be assisted. If a player shoots, keeper saves and someone rebounds a goal then that’s unassisted. Any deflection on the pass is also not an assist, even if the deflection is inconsequential or tiny like flicking off the bottom of the studs. The exception to the deflection rule is the subjective part. Some of the time the ball does take a slight deflection and they give it as an assist anyway. Just one of those random stat provider quirks. The weirdest league is MLS where they have the even more subjective secondary assist or hockey assist I think it’s called, which scores the same amount of points as a regular assist. No idea why.

I get it, it wasn’t a DK assist as they have different rules as in Europe.

Bale got an Europa League assist as he was the last player to touch the ball before the defender kicked it in his own net. Same for Mane in the Champions League.
Both would’ve been assists in the EPL as well.

Opta are the company that has loosely defined an assist as that way, which is what DK and FD use as their stats provider. In the EPL assists are defined in a similar way, but for the purposes of season long fantasy they can come up with their own twist on it. Assist as a measure is just not black and white in general. Like a player scores a 30 yard screamer and the person that gave it to him gets the assist. They’ve not really contributed to that goal, just happened to be the last person that gave the ball to the player that did everything. Likewise for an own goal it could be a shot that’s going miles wide or a cross that would have been a tap in, but a defender got there first. Neither are assists by Opta, both could be given assists by whoever is doing the stats for a game in Europe. I’d define the wayward shot as a negative action that got lucky and the cross as a positive action that got rewarded, so no assist and assist, but it will be different person to person and company to company.

Not much chatter in here lately for the current Champion’s League matches.

I dabbled in a few contests for the matches a few weeks ago. Big soccer fan, but not much luck picking these guys. From viewing some of the winning lineups, it seems like the strategy is to just make sure you get the guys who typically score a lot of points, and not worry about rounding out your full lineup with low-mid guys with high potential. i.e. – it wouldn’t matter if you have guys with zero to very little points, so long as you get the 2-4 guys who end-up racking up all the points. Could even go so far as taking someone who is a sub, isn’t playing, or is just the bottom of the barrel in the DK price, just to make room in your lineup?
