    Hey Grinders,

Just wanted to pass along the sad news that long-time RG member and tax guru, PJGuin23, passed away due to cancer last month. We’re heartbroken but felt it was necessary to share since he was such a staple in our community and helped out so many of our members throughout the years. Patrick was an amazing dude and will be sorely missed.

We ask that you please keep the Guinan family in your thoughts and prayers.

For those interested in paying their respects further, you can find the memorial page here. Here’s a link to the family’s gofundme page.

Way to young to go RIP PJ

  • KindGuy

My thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family. So sad to see cancer take away a life at such a young age. He was always so helpful on these forums when people needed tax advice. He had mentioned he needed to stop posting because something had come up but I of course had no idea. Rest In Peace PJ.

Very sad news, Patrick was a stand up guy and definitely did what he could to help so many out here at RG.

Rest in peace and I wish the best for his family.

RIP Patrick. Condolences to everyone around him. He was a great guy and a fine contributor to RG. As a fellow CPA, I greatly respected his tax knowledge. He will be missed.

Deeply saddened to hear this. It was a pleasure working with Pat over the years. Pat loved DFS and helping out the community with his tax knowledge. Taken way too soon. He will be missed.

Awful to hear. Talked through private messages many times with him related to taxes and other stuff of interest (he lives fairly close to me and is a Philly sports fan as well). When he told me two months ago he had stage 4 melanoma and that is why he closed his tax business, I was in shock (he’s only two years older than me). Especially as someone with a young daughter and knowing he had two young daughters. Gone too soon. RIP and condolences to his family. At least he was able to fight the dreaded disease to see the Eagles finally win a Super Bowl.

I wonder if anyone has set up any type of go fund me page on the behalf of his family yet. I’d be interested in donating.

Sad news, indeed. Never had any interaction with him but always sad to hear cancer take someone so soon. Condolences to his family and my thoughts go out to the RG community. Even more terrible that he apparently has young daughters.

Found the gofundme page here. Looks like donations are still being accepted.

Thanks for finding that. Donated. Be cool if this community could push them towards the monetary goal as I am sure his family still has TONS of medical bills (plus any funeral costs they had) to deal with. Such a sad situation and terrible disease.

Seconded. This guy offered a lot of tremendous unsolicited advice over the years and he even called me and consulted on my taxes. A donation is the least that can be done. Sad to hear.

Terrible news. Those pictures of his kids, who will grow up without a dad, on the gofundme page make you think how DFS is so unimportant in the grand scheme.

First thing I thought of. Puts things in perspective…

I’ve seen him around and always read his tax advice. As somebody who has dealt with melanoma, it is no fun. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family, and thanks for posting the gofundme link.
