Can we get it out of the way and discuss the elephant in the room, Stake Kings?

Is there a difference between lineup selling and crowdfunding?

I get it but I’m not sure how well this is going to go over.

  • BobbyTheBrain

You would feel good about investing 50.00 to get a lineup that wins the first place prize of 50,000.00 dollars and you got 200.00 dollars out of it profiting only 150.00 dollars. I’d be kinda bummed myself

Lol, just went to the contest and it’s the same guys that have multiple threads for collusion up there in the top 10…. ragingphillip and mazwa and the brother… but hey, they give to charity, amirite?!?!?

  • JENSGT

can someone explain what that site is?

I would be ecstatic. You are getting the % of the winnings that you paid for. I don’t see the problem with it.

For those that asked about what I gain specifically with this tonight, the answer is nothing. We added no markup and I was just happy to go along with a fun promo.

I admit that I am still a bit conflicted about the whole thing ethically, especially with markup added, but we did not do that tonight.

Essentially it allows you to purchase a share of a DFS pro for the contest. What ever % of the buyin cost you pay for you get that % back in the winnings.

  • gvn2fly1421

Cards, I am in this with you but we are sliding… tell me you got some late night hammers waiting?!?!?

If I could profit $150 for doing 0 work and spending less than 5 minutes of my time I would do it 100 out of 100 times and not feel bad about it for even a second.

  • bigez952

One question I don’t really understand is how does Stake Kings profit off this? Does the person posting have to pay them fees or do the people buying packages pay fees? Or do they double dip like stub hub and both sides pay fee’s?

  • BobbyTheBrain

That’s if he gets first. U think he’s gonna win 50,000 every night 🙄🙄

No chance. Like every investment there is risk involved. I like the investment though. If he is profitable I am profitable. Can’t ask for much more than that.

    Bingo!!!

The selfish and shortsightedness of promoting crowdfunding where thousands of people who have used this site to research and become better players despite having to endure losing is amazing. Although I have never met many of the RG personalities it’s very apparent that most of them are genuine really good guys. If RG is moving this direction I’d be more than disappointed to know the end result was to take the jersey off myself and pay someone else to play because it gives me a better chance at taking money from the poor saps that continue to….grind.

Yea, I’m still kinda out of the loop. This thread was randomly posted mid day with a kind of cryptic opening post. Where can I get more info on this stake kings operation?

The stake kings website would be a decent place to start. This post was in response to the banner RG had promoting this site and service.

Ahhhh I see. Weird, I’ve been on RG since the morning and never once saw the banner.

  • KindGuy

This is the first time I’ve ever learning about this operation even though it appears they’ve been affiliated with RG for quite some time now.

Barring anything crazy, it looks like a net loss tonight.

Part of the reason this makes me uncomfortable is that I hate losing… especially when I am nanaging funds offered up by others.

I will eat tonight’s loss myself and have StakeKings refund all purchases as a thank you for those who gave it a try.

Hey Element, this is a brand new platform. This was one of the first (besides a few tests) DFS packages ever. Not sure where you got the “affiliated with RG for quite some time” from.

That’s crazy. I would have loved to had part of your action for no markup, but it was bought out.

  • jhpog

More and more 2018 DFS reminds me of 2010 online poker. I knew a few people who would get enough of themselves staked at a markup that they weren’t actually risking anything but still had a small percentage of winnings. Then they played a ton of volume and just racked up something like 5-10% of their cashes and moved on to the next day. It made sense for all parties involved. The players were happy to get risk free winnings. Those that staked were happy to get pieces of profitable players so it was a rather safe investment as long as they consistently purchased parts of packages.

I think it makes sense here too. If – for example – STL can get others to pay for his buy ins and he gets a small percentage of total cashes, it’s a lot better than the constant swings and ups and downs. Especially at the type of volume someone like him plays. If I can take $50 a night and bet on STL Cards instead of myself – he is significantly better than I am – then I will be making a better ROI.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong ethically here. It’s risk management on the players end by mitigating variance and it’s an investment on the backers end. There’s not anyone getting an advantage of playing more lineups in an event than they are supposed to. I prefer this a lot more compared to lineup buying. I know STL said he didn’t do a markup tonight, but even if he did it’s fine in my eyes.
