Can we get it out of the way and discuss the elephant in the room, Stake Kings?

Is there a difference between lineup selling and crowdfunding?

I get it but I’m not sure how well this is going to go over.

according to chat at stake kings I am reading it right

So if I put $20 on the $215 Sunday Supersonic that starts in 45 minutes and he wins I get 7.442%. First place is around $30,000 so I get over $2000 if he wins???????

Im no not even close more like u would get about $55 lmao

No this is not true. Having used Stake Kings for poker investments in the past you would win that amount. It’s pretty simple, you win the % you purchase of any cashes in the event. So if you buy 10% of a $215 and the pro wins the tournament for $20,000 – your $15-$30 dollar investment turns into $2,000.

We noticed a bit of confusion and wanted to make sure that everything is as clear as possible. We completely understand how confusing this all is when first getting started and everyone at StakeKings is ready to help answer any questions or concerns that you might have. Always feel free to contact our 24/7 live chat on StakeKings.com and we will typically respond within a few minutes. As for purchases, Whatever percentage that you purchase, you will have that percentage of the TOTAL cash/winnings amount. As an example – to keep it simple, if you purchased 10% of “PLAYER X” and they won $100,000 in a tournament —- you would win $10,000. If this is confusing for any reason OR if you or anyone else has any questions about anything, please do not hesitate to contact our live chat support on StakeKings.com (blue circle on bottom right of the site).

I’m curious what other people think about the site. On one hand, it seems like there is markup offered to the point where some of these packages are clearly bad for the investor. On the other hand, perhaps the investor would have been worse off playing on his own anyway so they are actually saving money by using stakekings. It certainly doesn’t help that the site takes 10% as fee which adds another large rake into the equation.

The site confirms that PT Barnum got it right.

At least with markups that aren’t like 1.02.

Anyone who pays 1.3 markup in DFS for an already heavily raked game deserves the results they’re going to get most of the time.

I have looked several times and there’s been no dfs since that one time cards did it

To be honest, I think this is not good at all for the DFS ecosystem as a whole… And DFS is already on a downward spiral with rake the way it is

Why? It has no effect on you at all? Sharks are selling some action to reduce some variance.. Big deal. There are far bigger issues out there like teams/profit sharing groups that “help” each other make lineups.

    Oh I see. Thanks.

So if I invest $10 tonight in the single entry thunder dome I get .18% of the winnings? $30,000 for first place and .18% of that is $54. Is this correct?

  • SunburntDonk

Last night HOOP won almost 50k in StakeKings packages. I just sat there and watched on live contests wishing I invested more.

  • Boneys2000

    How much did he invest?

Scenario 1: Shark gets funded to enter into twice as many lobbies through staking.

Scenario 2: Shark is in profit sharing group and splits the funds so they can play twice as much in a single lobby.

Are the odds any better in the casual players favor?

Seems less than ideal for the ecosystem if it catches on, yes, although there are probably other offenses that are worse for the ecosystem (i.e ongoing flagrant one player to an account violations)

Look, in isolation there’s nothing “wrong” with people paying a stupid premium on $10 or whatever in order to sweat along with their favorite DFS players/personalities. It is not really raked any worse than playing your local lottery and there’s obviously a market for that.

But Stakekings is going to be a clear money losing proposition in the aggregate for “investors”, and, ethically, should only be marketed/promoted to customers as a money-losing entertainment venture, both by Stakekings and RG. Hopefully that’s the angle we see promoted here as “investors” EV will be higher clicking six random buttons and filling 49K+ of salary vs. paying a 30 cent markup for PGA lineups no matter who they are buying from.

Completely agree with Pats. I would short just about every single thing posted so far DFS wise. The 10% to StakeKings really makes it difficult for the investor to be profitable.

my question and forgive me if it has been answered is. How do you choose which tournaments/lineups you are investing in. For example say for the millionaire maker for PGA at the Open Championship I want to invest in Awesomo if he post. Does a $10 investment go 50% into 1 lineup of his 150 (assuming he max enters) or is it 3% but covers winnings for all 150 lineups of $3000 entries, also what if other GPP’s or cash games are entered for that slate.
