Anybody have thoughts on this? Very odd to take this big of a stance when there hasn’t been any sort of definitive action taken by any state other than Nevada.

  • ColonialRampage

Now that they’re gone, I hope someone will jump in and offer a 5 out of 7 PGA game. That’s by far the best PGA game in the industry and the best thing that site did.

Although the NBA sub thing was a pretty cool innovation.

I would say I find this extremely disappointing, but really it’s been a steady decline since Victiv became StarsDraft. Mildly disappointed?

Amaya was recently given approval from regulators in NJ for PokerStars and Full Tilt (both owned by Amaya) to operate in that state in partnership with one of the many casino’s. They were heavily audited before the approval was granted.

This is a move by Amaya to assist with their “playing it clean” approach to getting into the regulated poker environment. If you google Amaya Corp, you can see they had to basically promise to be a “good actor” in order to keep their standing in New Jersey as a poker operator. Amaya owns Starsdraft and thus will not risk tiny minnow revenue for potential whale-revenue.

Don’t get mad at them, they are just protecting their own interests.

Let’s stop complaining about the bonus. The 2% drip rate was going to keep most people from ever clearing it. I’ve been a silver tier player since the program began who would probably get into the gold tier this NHL season. My bonus would not have fully cleared till sometime in 2017.

What a fucking bummer. Not only because I really liked stars, but because this domino is perhaps bigger than all the others combined to date. RIP DFS

Its just a poker related move to show the government they are taking every step possible to assure integrity/legality

    Nothing other than that

This is exactly what they’re doing. This move is to get into good graces with the government.

We have our first DFS ejection from Alaska. What did THEY EVER DO???

  • Tsw1999

Yep, Victiv was my highest profit site, too. But even if it wasn’t, it was my favorite. Loved the PGA games with the 5 out of 7 players and the NBA games with the substitute. I had multiple times where I had problems on the site and tweeted about it and within minutes somebody would be working on it. True that the conversion to Starsdraft has caused a noticeable dropoff. Are the Victiv guys still out there to make a new site or did they sign a non-compete clause?

Gonna wait with my fingers crossed tonight to see if I hold off in my NFL contests before I withdraw.

  • Myballzachertz

There won’t be too much overlay. They purposely didn’t run baseball on some days due to fear of an overlay. If you are looking for overlay draftpot will offer more.

  • tbird05

it’s interesting that MD is one of the 4 states. MD is one of the few states that Bovada bans. A company that still operates in the unregulated USA online poker market.

  • qutgnt25

I only smart ones were the victiv guys who for their sake hopefully profited off selling. These guys are eating overlay every week losing money so its an easy decision to make. They only care about their poker business and now try to look “moral” trying to expand that.

  • biggiesmails72

Pretty disappointed about it. Victiv was great and the perfect NFL product for me. Starsdraft wasnt as good but still loved it. Gonna have to look for a new favorite site now for NFL

  • Myballzachertz

Ok here my take. I have been on Starsdraft for well over a month. I have played a lot of coin and won a lot of coin on the site. I loved their baseball scoring with the pitching staff just innovative and different and I excelled at it. I’m pissed they are doing this bowing out like this doesn’t seem to be a smart business decision especially if it’s not temporary. No one can tell me a site can stay in buisness operating in just 4 states I won’t and don’t believe it. RIP Starsdraft I loved your site and hope you come to your senses before its too late. The withdrawal process at Stars is 1000 times better than anywhere else and the customer service you got (Mike especially) was top notch and the type i remember DK and FD had before they blew up.

Not to de-rail the thread but FantasyHub offers the same 5 of 7 product for their PGA.

No wonder I did so well even though 2 of my guys missed the cut.

BTW, I love how people are bitching on this thread about a site refusing to serve them anymore and giving them their money back. They are obviously not poker players. I couldn’t believe how many poker players I met as recently as last year in Vegas that are still out hundreds of thousands of dollars from that debacle.

I only joined StarsDraft to get the extra RotoGrinders bonus and incentives.

This leaves a real bad taste in my mouth. It’s like false advertising. Now I’ll never earn my big bonus and I can’t use the Incentives since they won’t let me play!

so you’re mad that you took 30 seconds to register there?

when i got my check from the doj it was for like 117$ and missing two 0’s. not hundreds of thousands, but big enough. still never could get clarity on why it was so low.

The real fascinating thing is… if you are going respond this conservatively to an adverse business environment, why enter into an industry as a size underdog where the big players are selling off pieces of themselves every quarter to expand their customer base?
Did it cost them pennies to acquire?
It seems like when you purchase a dfs company all you’re getting issome software and a user base.

Single state poker will never reach multiple state DFS revenues, that part you’ve got wrong.

  • ktw1021

RIP, to my favorite site, and for whatever reason my most profitable . Agree this is a poker protection move, but it still just sucks. , I wish I could be positive but it feels like Black Friday in poker all over again

They probably want to eventually merge all of the states that allow it onto one network. And in DFS they wouldn’t ever be a top 2 site, in poker they would be.
