As most of you know, I’m a bit of a music junkie. This summer I have tickets for Chvrches, Norma Jean, Of Monsters and Men, Coheed and Cambria, and Twenty One Pilots.

Any of you have summer concert plans?

Norma Jean dusting off the screams again?

This year has been an eclectic mix. Went to Farmborough Festival a few weeks ago. Bad Religion a week before. Rise Against and Killswitch Engage two weeks ago. Foo Fighters rocked Citi Field. But most importantly, Dillinger Four is coming to the east coast in October (summer enough?)

    Chvrches,

Saw them 2 years ago in Detroit at the St. Laneway Festival. You’ll like them.

That’s not the ‘The Fallen’ is it? I know there’s incoherent rambling in that one lol.

Kind of hard to make music sounds over the internet. That was actually the intro to “Welcome Home”

Jimmy Buffett at Jones beach next Tuesday.

I’ve got Riotfest-Chicago (Faith No More, Snoop, Ice Cube, Modest Mouse, Rancid, Fidlar, Anthrax, etc), Built to Spill, Titus Andronicus, Julian Casablacas+The Voidz, Deafheaven, Wavves, and Yo La Tengo in the coming months

Already saw Chvrches, Wilco, Run The Jewels, ASAP Ferg, Parquet Courts, Vince Staples, The Weeknd, Alt-J, TV on the Radio, Asap Rocky, My Morning Jacket, Dinosaur Jr.,Tame Impala, and others at stand alone shows and various festivals.

Chicago is great for concerts no matter the season.

A lot of good country acts come through here, problem is… It is an intimate setting, so tickets usually shoot up to 100 bucks. Except every time Merle Haggard comes through (a lot!) Met him at the store the day before the show. Nice guy, humble, talked a lot about music. He couldn’t believe that the tattooed guy driving a Honda had a big dip in and loved country music. He was okay with the Honda when I told him it was actually built in Kentucky. Lol. Still didn’t care for the tattoos though lol.

I would have loved to have seen Foo Fighters bring out Darryl Jennifer and Dr. Know. I have only seen Bad Brains perform 2.5 songs live once in 2001 in DC. The show got shut down because someone had gotten stabbed earlier in the night.

It’s not really my cup of tea but my gf and I are going to see Alabama Shakes next month in Buffalo.

I used to book a lot of bands in Rochester 15 years ago and I booked KSE once. I never would have thought them and so many similar bands would get as big as they are. Like most gigs back then, I lost a good chunk of change that night, too.

I was at Foos on night one when Chad Smith played a few songs. Would have rather caught Bad Brains joining night two. No disrespect to Smith, but I’ve seen him before…

Drive-By Truckers are opening for the Shakes. They’re great. That show is coming to NYC but don’t feel like paying that much for it.

I am pretty sure it’s just Shakes in Buffalo. They had TBA listed for opener and now nothing. I am more going for my gf anyway. Though it will be nice to take a night away from staring at stats.
