As I reminisce of my old Socom 2 days or even Call of Duty late nights I remembered what made the games better; the team aspect. Yes we all play DFS to make money but what if we could form factions of lets say 4 other DFS players.

Your team of 5 plays against another team of 5, and the pot is split amongst the winning team. This would add a new element to DFS and DFS forums alike. Dedicated servers to team play, recruitment, worldwide team rankings, player and team seedings, etc…It would grow the community to new levels.

you don’t have to but hopefully you team up with people you trust and want to share with. The goal is to win as a team.

    Pretty sick idea.

I used to be big into gamebattles for COD4. This would be pretty easy to set up. Not sure how big of a following this would have outside of football as it’s once a week and most populated.

  • 19massey89

Easy to set up, but probably difficult to get a site behind it.

This is taking the competitiveness of DFS to an entirely new level. Super cool.

Exactly. feel like it’s a driving force that is missing right now within the sport.

It will be corrupted as everything is in DFS and become a breeding ground for collusion and multi-accounting.

So you think it’s a bad idea, huh?

Alright, I’ll play along. What if on each team, you had to have unique players? I bring that up because without a similar rule in place, one guy can simply do all the ‘work.’ Or as YoungFischer suggested, it would actually encourage multi-accounting.

Maybe if you made it so only 3 out of 5 lineups (for example) can have certain players it’d work

  • VinnyTheBeard

All 4 lineups cannot be identical, and your team score is the average of all 4 lineups.

    Done.

  • NCRick

What about a daily fantasy sports center where you get locked in a room with nothing but sports data to ensure you make the lineup yourself? You would need to check in and wait 24 hours to enter any contests. We are talking hardcore DFS.

As others have mentioned this is not a new concept.
I pitched this years ago and we used to play it at Buzzdraft before they were sold.
Each entrant entered 2 rosters and the Highest scoring sungle lineup took it home for that user.
We played H2H’s up to 5 mans but, above that were hard to fill on such a small site back then.
After FTD purchased them, they posted a few similar contests for us and they did not last 15 minutes on the board but they stopped after only a few days. Still not sure why. They promised to start posting them again but purchasing more sites was more important than keeping the players you had happy I guess.
We bring the concept up every now and then hoping it will catch on as it was by far the favorite format i have ever played. Especially for NBA. It now seems like some others are finally coming around on the idea and concept.

So long as it doesn’t turn into 5 guys all rolling out the same lineup vs another 5 guys all rolling out the same lineup, I love the idea.

  • jdtrey22

Until you have one guy contact the guy on the other team to throw his lineup and make it look somewhat decent but hes actually going for lowball

Seems like a really cool idea, even if it isn’t scaleable in the sites systems’ right now it could be done as a spin-off contest on RG. A lot of these could be fun one-offs. Ideas:

-Pros vs. Joes: Do a best ball contest where high score wins for the team between 2 pros versus 3 joes.

-DK ProAm: Same thing but you pair up a well known player with a amateur grinder and let them compete as a team

-Individual Handicap tournament: DK gives everyone a fantasy point handicap and you compete for high gross and high net point contests

But yeah if it was anything other than a fun contest it could get corrupt as shit real fast. If people sandbag their handicaps for their local country club tourneys you can imagine how it could get for this.

RG could just create a FD and/or DK team league on-site and add another section to the grinder rankings called “team rankings” or something. Make it a swiss style where every team is pitted against each other over a period of time and whoever comes out with the best W-L record is the champion. You can also have a points system based on win differential (5-0/4-1/3-2/etc) to make it more interesting. All you’d have to do is have a thread for it to keep track of the diff H2H matchups and which teams come out on top in each series. I don’t really have anything in mind for rules such as limiting lineup construction (can’t all use the same SPs, etc). Another issue would be how much the buy-in would be for each H2H (probably somewhere in the 25 dollar range to make it playable for anyone), but I think since its only 1 H2H each night no one would really be playing for the profit-aspect anyways. More of a competitive type of thing, especially with low stakes guys always saying that the only thing separating them from pros is their bankroll.

Also you could make it even more interesting by having 5 slots for each team where each slot is dedicated to a different site or something like that to show who is the “best” or “specialist” for each different format. FD/DK/FA/Victiv/Yahoo or something like FD/FD/DK/DK/Yahoo whatever would be really cool in my opinion.
