You can call governor Haslam’s office and leave a message in support of the fantasy sports regulation bill as a constituent.

seems likely that the regulation bill will get passed. be really nice.

The timing of this opinion blows. There are companion bills in the legislature that will be up for a vote soon.

So can anyone venture an opinion/guess of what is going to happen next? Are we gonna be allowed to continue playing or are we gonna be stopped pending the outcome of the legislation?

If I were to make an educated guess, I could see the AG issuing a cease and desist for DK and FD to stop collecting entry fees. It will probably be similar to what the Alabama AG just did. Hopefully the DFS bills will be voted on sooner rather than later.

Hopefully Haslam will take care of us in TN,You would think its gotta help that his brother owns a nfl team.

I dont really blame the AG for his opinion, because his job is to follow the law and TN law is very broad as to what constitutes illegal gambling. My hope is that nothing is done between now and when the regulatory bills are voted on. However, I think he will issue a cease and desist very soon. My overall biggest gripe is that there are real issues that need addressing in TN, not DFS. The whole political system is a mess.

We can hope that one AG can be logical and just let it play out and not disrupt a lot of people’s lives and daily routines. I know that’s hoping for a lot, but I can always hope for the best.

I believe Tennessee is where Rotogrinders HQ is at. This would be a huge blow for them if that is the case.

DFS is slowly crumbling. How far we have come after the Ethan “scandal” and the bombardment of DK and FD commercials during the start of the NFL season.

I knew we were in trouble when the AG of Alabama filed a cease and desist order yesterday. Alabama was trying to pass a bill soon as is tennesse this week. No state is safe anymore and I except the domino effect to keep going. I believe Dfs is cooked unfortunately.

Which all of this was probably predictable, perhaps even at a faster rate than what’s happened. After seeing a DK/FD commercial every 15 minutes of watching pretty much any sport/tv show imagineable, it was a matter of time before it caught AG’s eyes.

I agree. If you win big in the next few days/weeks, I’d definitely cash most of it out.

WIll enjoy it as it lasts.

RG has been very active behind the scenes with the State legislature. There are companion ballots on the agenda that deal with the regulation and legalization of DFS. The timing of this opinion is odd, but I am hopeful the legislature does the right thing. Ive called Haslem’s office this morning twice voicing my concern about the AG’s priorities. Tennessee has huge sex trafficking problem right now that could actually use some attention.

I just sent it cal. Thanks for everything you guys have been doing to try and keep Dfs legal in Tennessee. Dfs has changed my life for the better and I have in no way ever been irresponsible or played beyond my means. I’m sure there are many others just like me. I just can’t comprehend that you can blow your life savings on the lottery but Dfs should be illegal.

If you click through on the article posted by OP it looks like all fantasy sports and not just DFS have been declared illegal by the AG.

Pennsylvania seems like a fairly likely place to receive a DFS ban. Heavy casino influence in many different parts of the state, and both religious conservatives/big gov’t liberals who have both been hostile to DFS through this process.

I’m actually shocked DFS has made it this far. Perhaps it’s because, with AC being so close and the casino culture growing so rapidly, gambling in PA is a bit more normalized.

  • whodat2

In doing a little more research by reading the articles in the Tennessean, it seems that the AD didn’t just come out with this on his own. It appears fantasy legislation is in the process, and the AD was asked for his “opinion” on the matter before it heads to any kind of legislation. I personally don’t see a quick cease and desist, but I could be wrong.

  • whodat2

BTW, where in TN is everyone from? Cookeville here.
