Abu Dhabi WTA starts around midnight tonight, 12 match Line Painter is live. Delray Beach ATP on Thursday.

  • skleni

Yeah! Also ATP in Antalya this week.

Someone give me the cliff notes version of how to play DFS tennis?

I understand the game but can’t name more than 5 players, so please dumb it down for me. For example if I was answering this for someone in baseball I’d say “pick the guys who you think will hit homers and the pitchers that strike people out”. That level of basic.

Avoid players who double fault a lot, 6 winners is usually a must for a GPP win, betting odds are a good starting point, court surface is for tennis what home ballparks are for baseball, more upsets in women’s tennis than in men’s, but also more clean sets (for the 6-0 bonus) in women’s tennis

Usually you would also like to have the players that serve many aces, however, in my experience the serving machines like Isner often also come with much more ownership…the same goes for US players in general I feel (at least from my German perspective).

Interesting, thank you. It actually sounds like MMA. So would this make sense as a strategy … try to go 6-0 above all else?

In MMA there is some big differences in how you win but at the end of the day if you can go 6-0 you’re gonna make money. I know this sounds way more simple than it is.

Exactly, 6 winners should be your priority…usually 5 medium/good scoring winners are the bubble, on some days you can make some money with 4 winners. Therefore, one should not play opposing players in the same lineup unless something really strange happens

    Perfect, thank you.

Why aren’t all the players available? Like Gauff is -3300 but not an option.

  • JH822547

They have daily slates. You’re looking at the Wednesday slate and Gauff’s match is on Thursday.

Even so, not every match on any given day is included on the slate depending on when DK want to lock the contest.

    https://www.flashscore.com/tennis/ is your friend.

One thing you have to know about DFS tennis is that players can WD before the match so you can get massively screwed over and end up with zero points for your player, killing your line-up.

If you’re going to invest any serious money you need to be around before the contest lock and prepared to make last minute changes

    We’re back baby!

Thanks for the info. I’ve been DFSing long enough to know that when I dip my toes into a new sport it’s gonna be in an extremely inexpensive single entry tournament. Only cost me crowns to get in the $1. Never know. My first career tournament win ever was a single entry League of Legends lineup for a dollar. lol

  • nickbloggerman

Jabeur just mispriced on DK so I’m sure she’ll be the heavy chalk.

  • skleni

Jabeur too cheap…but somehow I prefer her opponent

Also like Badosa for an upset and Fernandez

  • LegiaWwa

According to the odds, Jabeur is priced right on line.

Pavleychunka (sp) may lay the occasional egg, but she has got some big wins the last year or two, she can play

  • JH822547

Nah it’s priced on DK as a flip and Jabeur is as short as 4/7 or 1.57 favourite.

Great start today, faded 55% Kontaveit and 33% Wang.

  • Baysman

Vekic has now lost 9 straight sets. And she’s seeded #16 for this tournament?? Interesting.

  • joephoto

One thing I’ve noticed is first rounds have scheduled players who sometimes don’t show up.
Travel is tough in the days of Covid.
I’ll play early matches on a slate, but won’t trust the later starting matches.
    Hate getting 0s.

At least for the Abu Dhabi tourney, the women are all in a quarantined bubble, so they had to get there way ahead of time to be allowed to play, so I’m less concerned about withdrawals from that tourney. They got nowhere else to go and want to stay in the bubble before the AO.

The Antalaya and Delray beach, I’m not as sure about.

  • skleni

    18 games for tomorrow

  • JH822547

Needed Diyas to score around 66 to win the big GPP

    She didn’t.

  • Faucher

    • Blogger of the Month

Pulled a t-1 in the line painter, good way to fund the season, so glad tennis is back!

  • skleni

So what do we do with Basilashvili?

Also Kovinic a bit too cheap

  • skleni

Maybe we can get a little forum contest going: https://www.draftkings.com/draft/contest/100619141

  • LegiaWwa

Nice work Faucher, make it last all year.

Lots of solid favorites in the 9k-10k range, at least.one of them will lose, but which one?

I am rolling with his opponent, even though Ive never heard of him. Nikolas is playing so bad and hes got his personal criminal distractions too

  • JH822547

    20% Mertens WD
5% Cornet owners might get a massive break.

    Didn’t play much of either.

Edit: Cornet plays Valentini Grammatikopoulou so is effectively 4K underpriced.

Started off so well then played like crap for the 3rd set.
