Finally another major to sink into. Bloody TON of ,matches the first day. Remains to be seen how many DK actually use. They have opened most of the contests today, but still no prices. There is no sched of play yet, I am not sure why? They might have some qualifiers to run for drops outs or something of the like. So we have to wait for the field to be finalised until we get prices and a schedule. But here is an early look at the odds. DIG IN!

    WTA

    ATP

I think the first thing we notice is the on the men’s side the overwhelming favourites compared to the woman’s side, no lady is over 9.5 for an upset. Simply means, no surprise to those that have bet tennis before, that the ladies are much harder to predict. But that is where we will find those 90+ scores we need to take down a GPP. The first 2 rounds you will need close or even over 500 fps to win… Look to target the gals in the 1.25- 1.35 range. They will be priced around $8.5k-$9.5k on DKs. You generally wont need any 10k+ players the first couple rounds.

    very limited options today

played the $222 but I used Kerber :(

  • jg005

    Putintseva!!!!!

  • yisman

    they want to DQ Djokovic?

  • yisman

    Djokovic tossed from the tournament

he hit a ball after a point which hit a lineswoman

    so a “default”

score was 6-5 RCB in the first set at the time

  • jg005

Wow unreal. Never seen this before.

  • me_mike84

wow – i have never seen that before. he didn’t do that on purpose, or i guess it doesn’t seem to matter?

    doesn’t matter
the rule is if you hit an official with a ball between points, you get tossed

this is such a 2020 thing to happen

Maybe players have been ‘defaulted’ from majors before, but not high profile ones

    #1 player in the world

  • yisman

    that cost me big

I had Djokovic in the $222 contest

    gotta be kidding me

  • JH822547

I presume they are going to take away the ‘no double faults’ and certainly the ‘straight sets’ bonuses.

Serena vs Osaka? She wasn’t #1 in the world but she’s as high-profile as it gets. Or McEnroe at the Australian? That picture of him with his hands on his hips is famous.

  • yisman

now that you mention it, I do remember the Serena one

where she was screaming and threatening to jam the ball down her throat or something

She wasn’t defaulted tho. Just had a temper tantrum and lost a point

Tim Henman got DQed for hitting a ball girl at Wimbledon
    David Nalbandian at Queens https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XBnNDdR_n3k

It was her third warning of that match, so she was tossed.

I guess that was a little different since it was a point-penalty and not a full match disqualification…it just happened to be match point.

No, I was wrong, she wasn’t disqualified. The third warning is a game penalty, Osaka still had to serve it out.

It was the Clijsters match that ended with the penalty, but that was a point penalty on match point. I guess McEnroe in the Australian is the closest parallel to this in terms of penalty in a major to a high-profile player. What he did to get disqualified wasn’t the same of course.

I was watching the one in Davis cup a couple years with Shapovalov. He got pissed and pegged the chair ump good. Gonzo!

McEnroe was before my time. I just looked it up. 1990 AO, he kept verbally abusing the umpire and linespeople until he got a third code violation which is grounds for defaulting. McEnroe was unaware.

Plus that doesn’t qualify as a top player. He was well known, but well past his prime. He was about to turn 41 when that happened.

no one left for the men has ever won a major

not surprising, as Djokovic/Federer/Nadal have almost all the majors over the last 10 years. Very few other winners.

    2 bullets on DK today
1st and 74th in the 50k Line Painter. I’ll take it

  • strassnerte

Disappointed that FD has no contests today. Eight matches is enough to create contests. Wonder why they quit?

  • Centrin21

They just posted the contests on FD
