    Hey all!

We listened to your feedback and FanDuel is pleased to announce the introduction of Round 1 tennis contests beginning with the US Open on Monday, August 26th!

Before we get things underway next Monday, I wanted to post here with a few notes on Round 1 specifics and our tennis offering as a whole.

As many of you are aware, Round 1 matches (and some Round 2 matches in the case of Round 1 byes) have the potential for an opponent to withdraw and be replaced by a lucky loser. In these instances, the original player who did not withdraw will show as receiving zero points during live scoring but will receive all fantasy points accrued in the match (against their new, LL opponent) once the match is completed. The player who withdrew will not receive any fantasy points. The replacement (lucky loser) player will not be available for selection.

In addition to this, we have made the decision to disable late swap on tennis contests beginning with the US Open. Unfortunately, due to the unpredictability of match scheduling and the potential for matches to be moved earlier than their originally scheduled start time, we felt this was the right decision to keep fantasy tennis contests predictable, fun and fair for all tennis fans.

We’re really excited about the future of tennis DFS and would love to hear any other feedback on the product! Feel free to reach out here or email me directly at nik.bonaddio@fanduel.com.

I’ve never seen a match move earlier than its scheduled start time, it’s usually later after a court is free, or delayed by weather. It’s too bad you got rid of late swap, it was the one advantage you guys have over DK at Tennis.

I think their point is that except for the first match of the session on each court there generally is no scheduled start time, just an order. There’s no way to know whether that second match is going to start at noon or 1:30, and it only gets worse as the day goes along.

Which means they either have to code their system so that matches lock on some signal from the chair umpire (maybe the first serve, maybe whatever toggles the “players arrive on court” or “players warming up” messages that show up on the livescore app) or they need to have a live body monitoring everything and locking matches before they start.

I don’t know if that’s feasible or not but I can see why this is harder for tennis than for other sports.

Had Cornet, Ruud and Siniakova: 3 matches won by retirement in one lineup. I’m guessing I’ll never match that as long as I play.

Yes that makes sense to me. There is usually a 5 minute delay from when they know who is serving first to the first serve, I wonder if they could use that as an indicator to lock the players in?

  • JSteele

Without knowing any prices tomorrow, Fiona Ferro is my favourite value play. I also like Johnson, Hurkacz, Humbert, and Kecmanovic. Krajinovic got off to a slow start, but he looked a lot better by the 3rd set.

I think it should be possible—the scores app both tours use has a notice come up when the players have started warming up, which means the coin flip has happened and both players are there. Maybe there’s a way for that to trigger an automatic lock.

But I can see why they might shy off of it; if it went wrong it could be a disaster. Every other sport they run, there’s a planned start time. Except MMA I suppose, but nobody has late swap for that do they?

    lol tomorrows prices are ridiculous

  • Yeoman

I’m glad I’m not the only one that thinks so. I just left $6k on the table and it could just as easily have been 8.

  • tristanwolf

seriously was the dk guy drunk?

  • Yeoman

We laugh now but I’ll probably go 0-6 tomorrow and Paire and Tiafoe will both get double bageled.

Tiafoe getting bageled by Krajinovic makes sense lol

Querrey against a rublev who played two games today almost seems like a trap and i won’t be falling for it.

Tennis free roll tomorrow on fanduel?

I thought my import of prices had done something wonky this morning when I looked at it, I was like this can’t be right…..but it is.

FD prices seem to be off as well.
