Any idea about comparable courses in the PGA tour rotation?

  • mason3132

Everyone is saying similar to the Honda.

  • DayThugginFOURlife

I don’t see why you guys are all in on Lucas Glover? Looked up his stats and can’t seem to break top 75 so I don’t see where you guys are going there? And arvg birdies per event isn’t impressive

I am leaving out my two favorite golfers this week…Finau and C. Hoffman let them beat me..they are like that 3/5 shot that runs second 7 consecutive races and you just keep tossing money away waiting for him to finally win. I have learned enough that neither one of them will ever beat me enough to keep me from making a profit and neither one will ever win me a tourney. They are on my DNP list.

I saw Stevie Ray a couple of times. The first time we were leaning on the stage right in front of him. The dude had a side guitar monitor set up that created feedback several octaves lower than the rig in back. He’d do this casual little spin move ( in his Tom cat zoot suit) and the wave of sound would tear your head off. Recordings do not do justice to how much the guy had his thing mastered.

On team Sung this week. Both good strikers and hopefully Kang can make some putts this time around.

I thought I seen morning rain in the forecast is that correct. Trying to figure out am pm for showdowns for Thursday?

  • tbishop8

Usually just lurk around from time to time but I got a chance to walk the front nine inside the ropes with Seth Reeves yesterday so I’ll try to provide some insight into the course. Played here in college as our home course before the renovations.

Despite all the rain we have gotten the past few days, everything has dried out besides the 6 fairway in the lay up zone. This has caused it to be a tough wedge from there and may cause more guys to go for it if they hit a good drive. Lots of room to go deep so they would rather be there. Getting rain throughout Thursday and Friday may change this, but I wouldn’t expect it to get too sloppy.

The consensus from the players I was able to spend time with yesterday was that scoring won’t be nearly as low as last week. Some of the holes are really playing long. Even though the rough was only supposed to be 2.5 inches the rain has made it extremely thick in some areas, especially around the greens.

The overall impression from Seth and other players is that the large greens appear much smaller and shallower from the fairway. Most of the greens are just slightly elevated and flat, so players will have to trust their yardages because they don’t have the visual of exactly where the flag is on the green.

My takeaways would be to prioritize length off the tee and proximity from the fairway. Most tee shots aren’t too difficult, but you need to be out there deep. Guys will need to take advantage of the stretches of birdie holes by sticking approaches. Should be plenty of accessible pins.

Hope some of this info is helpful! Let me know if anyone has questions and I will try to reply tonight. Will be out there again this afternoon. Also no sign of Brooks yet at the course but Jason Day was the last one out there last night until after 6pm. Phil just played five holes and then took off yesterday.

Brooks has been quoted saying he thinks the winner will be -12 to -15 based on the holes he has played so he has to be out there to be able to give that quote. He doesn’t strike me as a guy who practices a ton for anything so I am not sure what to make of him not putting in 12 hour days.

Phil said on Twitter he only planned to play a couple holes yesterday as he wanted to watch the women’s world cup match. Phil was also in town a few weeks ago promoting the event and playing the course so I don’t think he needs al that much practice as the course isn’t brand new to him.

The 5am news report I saw before I went to work this morning is showing rain chances from 8am to 11:30am and then clear the remainder of the day. I think that rain should be fairly light and not stop play unless there is lightning in the area.

Sorry for asking usually there is a section about the weather. I will make sure to not ask again.

Roth usually posts his PGA weather update Wednesday afternoon so I expect it soon. I will be out there tomorrow so I am hoping they continue to back off on the rain.

I got my usual 3 lineups built for the week. Since I have so many head to heads posted with my week of hosting beat the forum I can’t decide which one to play. So I made the decision to split them up so out of the $105 I have posted each lineup will have $35 worth of head to heads. Might not be the smartest strategy but this way I don’t have to kick myself that I picked the wrong lineup. It should be a fun week and I am looking forward to being out at the event tomorrow as it will be my first live golf tournament since the 2009 PGA Championship at Hazeltine.

Thanks for the info, this is always great to get some eyes and ears on the ground to give us course info, especially on a new tour stop. This pretty much jives with the type of golfer I was going with this week so glad to hear it. Hopefully you continue posting instead of just lurking as this is great info!
