Wow, great news. Thanks for sharing.

That course is absolutely horrifying. It was built on a garbage dump, and they didn’t do anything to NOT make it look that way. Glad there are still people around who use their eyes instead of listening to a paid off media give endless glowing reviews. I mean, listen to those words: “perhaps the most architecturally interesting modern venue on tour.” They’re still trying. I wonder if they’re going to give the taxpayers of Texas their money back. The whole thing was a giant scheme from the beginning.

Also glad to see a Gil Hanse design being considered. I thought he deserved more play for the job he did in Rio, but instead all of the media push went to Coore and Crenshaw.

I actually kinda like Trinity Forest a little as it was different from most tour courses and links-like but the property was weird and the garbage dump thing too was a bit strange.

I’m a huge Gil Hanse fan – loved the Rio course and I like TPC Boston as well though that has mixed reviews from players. Coore-Crenshaw do get a ton of media love but the two courses of theirs that I’ve played are great.

Besides them I’m still an RTJ fan and like the classic Donald Ross designs as well as the Mackenzie courses. I’ve also played great Canadian courses here; some designed a long time ago by Stanley Thompson and then some great more-recent designs by Rod Whitman (Cabot Links) and also by Graham Cooke. Lots of great designers out there; it’s just too bad the media are all sheep and only tour the flavour of the day.

He just had a baby, decided to stay home with his kid instead of play where he’s got some insane course history. I’m actually kind of happy about it cause now you don’t have to make that choice to pay some crazy high price for him this week

I agree. If, somehow, he wasn’t priced really high, he would just be chalk.

I’m definitely looking at English this week and I have to fire up Phil. Also liking Harman quite a bit.

How do you only play one LU? Seems like a pretty large and open field to have just one lineup ? Am I missing something?

I moved my database out of the cloud and onto my home machine… and it promptly died. So need to rebuild it and won’t have that done until Thursday night – so will have to do this week All Skill.

RAID-0 is your friend – my critical data is on a cheapie two-disk network drive.

Look at the field they draw – I think the players agree with me. I will say though, that the members seem to thoroughly enjoy it. Perhaps it’s a love it or hate it type of place.

I think you nailed it in your last sentence; the design isn’t for everyone. An open linksy course exposed to the wind is not everyone’s favorite; I love inland links courses and was a member at a 36 hole facility that was very links-like for 10 years. It sure improves the golf game and keeps you mentally sharp as you hit every club in your bag and have to be able to hit a myriad of shots between firm conditions, pot bunkers, waste areas and howling winds some days and never from the same direction for more than a couple days.

Hey BIF, been a while. As fellow Gil Hanse fan I was pumped to hear that he’s just signed on at the Olympic Club to work on a master plan for course updates in advance of the PGA championship and Ryder Cup

True. I’m a little different than most, and I don’t really consider course design or playability at all if I don’t enjoy the look and feel of the place. I forget that other people have different viewpoints and priorities. Should have just said I’m not a fan of TF for televised golf / DFS purposes and left it at that.

And my boy Steve Marino had to Monday Qualify this week. Tough grind going from PGA Tour Pro to KFT Monday Q guy.

Edit: Qualified yesterday for the next tournament; not the live one you’re talking about.

Also see Tommy 2 gloves trying to grind out some money before prison.

Playing him in my single LU along with James Hahn!!!!

I’m going with recent course history this week for my picks and I’m hoping I’ll be doing this on Sunday…

    Instead of this on Saturday….

    Underrated movie no doubt!

la quinta course is stacked for round one showdown – casey, phil, finau, fowler molinari, ancer, sunjae, wolff, scheffler – going to have to build around those guys and then sprinkle in a few from the Nickolas Course as well.

  • byo34

I know Hubbard was rough last week.. I’m just going to hope the wind was to blame. 6100 and he has done decent here in the past, I will have some for sure.

Plus, liking a lot of the Korn Ferry guys because you need some birdies here and that is something they are used to.

    Thoughts on Molanari?

He’s been unimpressive of late and typically he doesn’t round into form until summer time. Personally I’ll be steering clear as I’d rather spend my salary on some other guys in better recent form who have had more success on the west coast swing

I think Asia’s love the celebrities. know who the CEO’s are, and love to make the millionaire connection more so than the non Asians. Of course they need to have that feeling of acceptance. Ha, a bit of a racist statement myself :)

Some interesting updates going into effect this April…I like the idea of the ‘observation list’ to basically call out the worst offenders and put them on the clock before the event even starts:

This week it’s 1 because of the 3 courses being played. At most I play is 2.

I’m small time when it comes to this as it’s an entertainment thing for me and I really hate crunching tons of numbers so I stay in my lane and roll with the punches. Last week my 2 6/6 were all in for $11 and won $46 with $18 coming from my 2nd place finish in the Happy Meal and going 5/5 in my $1 H2H I put up in the league page with my non Happy Meal LU.

I pay for 1 site that costs me $79/yr and helps a little. My minimal research comes from free info/websites otherwise that helps me see some numbers and stuff plus see where the chalk might be.

It seems weird for most but it works for me because of how I treat DFS.

  • BrianVT

I won’t state the names, but I just made a lineup with the exact top 6 names for course history only, and it left $100 on the table. A true CH lineup test.

  • titanhawks

I’m definitely cutting down my LU’s and cutting out the touts/experts; all about CH and RF

    Went 3 $8 vs. 8 $3 before and this week going 3 $5 vs. 5 $3

Got 11 players in my three LU’s

playing more SD this year; fading LaQ for more NT this week
