Only played a single bullet this week and happy to double my money. Also getting validation in my process as i had Xander and Henley on my short list when I was trimming down to 6 guys Wednesday night, but didn’t end up playing them.

    Rahm
Wolff (really killed my chance at a big week)
    Niemann
    Si woo
    Munoz
    Kokrak

Another no cut small field event this week upcoming – at least it is at a new course (for Tour events) that we have not seen much of. DJ is a member at Sherwood and should be the favorite assuming he clears the C-19 testing protocols and can play.

Looks like I will finish 16th in the $225K Club Twirl on DK..it was the only lineup I entered all weekend. To bad Rahm let me down. Turned $44 into $750.00 I will happily take it.

    Kokrak -20
    X-man -18
    Henley -17
    Munoz -11
    Rahm -7
    Si Woo -7

    Nice Job!

Got killed in my cash games but somehow managed to break even overall thanks to Kokrak in my GPPs.

BIF, I had to stop scrolling down to the bottom of my contests page so it left off how bad you beat me in our H2H, was painful viewing.

Just curious, what is your process for a place with no course history?

Ha ha – yah sorry 🙄
I had a cash monster this week; same lineup finished inside top 500 of the big $10 GPP with 52K+ entries so it was a Top 1% lineup.

You didn’t ask me but I’d say use everything you usually do except course history and even then you can use corollary courses – unfortunately you’ll have to rely on someone else’s opinion (rather than your own) on the course itself like whether it is a bombers course or a less than driver; what the greens and rough are like and what courses could be considered similar but I don’t see how it really changes your approach other than maybe lacking some confidence and/or having to do some extra research.

I just looked at stats that I thought would be a good fit for this course based on the (very little) information that was available and built my model for the week around those.

I ran based on things like Driving distance, SG approach, Proximity from 150-175 (which in hindsight may have been a poor choice) and bogey avoidance. Obviously current form played a part in it as well.

It ended up getting me on Kokrak in particular, who I wasn’t even really considering before starting my research.

Yea, I guess my point was that your process from this last weekend can/should be different than other weekends.

I agree with all of this as well. Even for a course with no history you can still find info if you dig enough. The issue becomes what information is valid and which is just noise, but that’s true of any sort of research.

BIF, a place with no Course History means I can’t do anything that I normally do. And when I say CH, I don’t just mean looking at how people playing this week finished in the past. I mean looking at stats that are relevant for this course from history, and using those stats in my model against current players. So, to say I should just do everything I normally do except look at course history doesn’t apply to my process.

I did finish 5th in Happy Meal, though, so I guess some of what I did worked okay, which was essentially weighing recent form heavier, and looked at some comp courses based on what little bit we knew about this course (length, type of grass, par 72, rough length, fairway width, etc.). But, extremely different process for me when there is not historical stat data to use.

Oh I agree. In other weeks that would be based on looking at course history (Last week at the Shriners, just as an example since that plays has years and years of history), but this week I took a different approach and was still successful.

I’m still just getting my feet wet in Golf, but my point was that I was able to get to a point where I put myself in a position to succeed, which for somebody who is still relatively new at this is all I can ask for.

Woo hoo Kokrak 1st win !

I have him on 4 of my 10 lineups and in a season long Pool.

581.5 in cash this week – that is a sweeper 💰
    1 Kokrak
    2 Xander
    6 Niemann
    T12 JT
    T17 Si Woo
    T28 Harman

Won 7 more Masters Milly tix…..and the BUCS crushed the Packers – all in a pretty good day !!

Well done BIF….I was wondering when your Mojo was going to appear.

  • timusbr

    @BIF said...

No they lost because the Bucs were better in every aspect and scored 38 straight points after being down 10-0

yes it was their week. Your Def, put on the pressure and got some good breaks(they worked for them). You must admidt that Rodgers was off. Its good to see them playing like you hoped they would 6 weeks ago.
I just cant help but think they were 2 totally different teams losing to the Bears and beating the Packers.

Well I think we use some similiar approach in that stats relevant to the course holds much more weight than overall yearly stats.

My approach is… correlated courses…(a guess by me…and I look to expected topar win….reasoning that topar and DFS pts correlate.) then also add in all the high value small field events. and go with the guys who have been on a heater, have an excuse for last RH…….and play for less money and less LU’s.

Hey, nice job! I think I saw you would have been top 5 in a ton of single entries and other stuff.

My favorite movie as well. Classic with such a great cast.
