Little off topic, but when does DK send 1099s?

I read they were given an extension by the IRS until mid-late Feb. So we should be getting them in a few weeks time.

It is really unreal that they can’t ever get those things out on time and have to file an extension every year.

I wonder if we’re all going to get an extension again this year because of COVID relief. Last year I had already filed my taxes by the time this COVID madness started and the extension (to July I think?) was announced. Based on some preliminary numbers I’ve run through TurboTax already, I’d be better off waiting as long possible since I’ll be sending Uncle Sam some extra pocket change.

hey my sympathies go out to Dallas FtW people. minus degrees and snow on opening day of Carnival. My minus degrees with a foot of snow doesnt seem to bad after all. It’s too cold to SAMBA

Thanks for the concern Tim. It’s getting pretty dicey down here, I still have power, but going on 36 hours without running water. Good thing there is enough snow on the ground to around us. Having to melt snow just so you can flush a toilet is not fun at all. God bless you guys that deal with snow on a yearly basis.

i got a question about big trey pay day. do you have to opt in before each Celtics game? Or once you opt in you’re good to go for all the games in the promotion?

I’ve played 18-36 holes with 3 guys in the KFT field this week; I’m definitely playing one of them and possibly two.

Only threw in one LU into the $8

That sounds way worse than dealing with snow every year. I got stuck feeding cattle in the snow yesterday for the 6th time this year but no running water is a problem I’d certainly not want to have.
As for the golf, love Ancer this week and I won’t be able to get away from Bryson at that price.

You have to opt in each time and do so before the 4th Q starts of the game being used.

What’s up. Think I am going to max the DTG…probably a bad idea.

Really liking Scheffler, Zalatoris, Davis, Ancer, Varner III and Ghim along with the obvious spends above them and the Homa chasers.

Good luck getting through it !

We are now on about Day 10 or 11 of a massive cold snap with temps near -30 and wind chills of -40; while this does happen once or twice each winter, it is usually only a 4-5 day cold front.

Thankfully the weather starts to turn tomorrow and by Monday we may actually get above freezing (up to 34 F or +1 C). I’ve barely left the house for 10 days so looking forward to getting out for a walk with the dogs.

The funny part is that we actually have less snow on the ground than they do in Austin TX from the pics I’ve seen of people doing snow angels. We have had almost zero snow all winter and until last week temps were above averages – normally we would have had a couple big snow storms and I’d have 4-5 foot high snow banks from shovelling/snow-blowing where right now it is less than a foot deep across my entire yard.

Do you have to keep your facets dripping in your house? I’d be so worried about pipes. Are you slab, basement, or crawlspace?

I’m also maxing it for my first time ever. I’m only heavy on maybe one of those guys, but smaller share of a couple others.

Woah, that is crazy. I can at least go outside for awhile to walk the dog and pick up snow for melting. I’m trying not to bitch too much, I have been very fortunate to not lose power the last few days. One of my employees is going on no electricity for the last 36+ hours. It’s currently 38 degrees inside his house.

How long can your dogs stay out in temps like that? We noticed that our dog was starting to walk funny after about ten minutes on the snow, had to bring him in.

I’m outside the city so we have a well for water that is 100+ feet deep; any lines outside the house are insulted so water isn’t an issue. In this kind of climate, everyone has insulated lines and/or a heat trace installed on them. We have an RO system for drinking water and the ice makers.

No need to keep faucets running. The one big thing you need to do up here is make sure your outside taps (and underground sprinkler lines) are blown out as any water sitting in those in non-insulated lines will expand and cram when frozen then you have an expensive mess to fix.

We have a basement and a small crawl space below that where our sump pump and pit are located. The house stays pretty warm so heating costs (gas and hydro) in winter isn’t much more than my cooling costs for air conditioning in summer.

I have Siberian Huskies so they could realistically stay outside in this weather full time as they would bury themselves in the snow and choose sunny parts of the yards with less wind or where there is a wind break. We have 2+ acres and about half is fenced for them plus we have a dog-door at the back of our attached garages so they can go inside it into a 6×8 kennel so they have options to escape the worst of the cold.

However, our dogs (with us working from home for almost 12 months) are pretty soft and only go outside in this weather to do their business and get a little exercise otherwise they have been inside almost as much as me. Once the weather breaks, they will want to be outside a lot more and check out their yard.

I never was desperate enough for Korean Baseball but I did dabble in Outlaw Tour and LoL. I absolutely sucked at Outlaw Tour. LoL I was able to at least become a bit competent at it. Got me through.

That makes sense. It was probably a really stupid question from someone down south. Even in other Northern climates (my dad grew up in PA and NY, and my sister lives in Chicago) where they have cold winters, they have better insulation than we would have here, but I think they still have to worry about deep freezes for long periods of time. I grew-up in VA, which is kind of middle of the road, and I just remember my mom having us drip our facets if it was going to be like down into the teens or lower overnight. Obviously, you guys have that all figured out up there. Very cool!

those people in texas are in a pickle with this. My first thought of when the temps go to 0 is making sure the water pipes dont freeze. I cant imagine in Texas thats a priority when they build. pipes near the outside walls. One frozen pipe makes for a hell of a week. tough enough to clean up after a flood, but impossible to clean up ICE. It was -1 in dallas this morning when my temp in Chicago was 9 degrees. I immeadiatly thought of frozen pipes, but I tuned into a dallas tv channel (fox Tim Ryan lol) only mentioned people without power ( a massive amount), I am sure the busted pipes will be the next headline.
