But I’m not sure I understand the complaints about MKF in general.

honestly, I dont think of it as a complaint. just a thought.
Kingsport(i forget the avatar name) has got it right that in todays world comments and reactions to comments just assume negative shades. more tolorance should help us all get thru tougher times.

sorry if I am being so pro forum over the last few days, but I cant help myself from seeing exclusion comments on things when my goal is to get my Happy meal contest to 200 people. I need everyone, I want more, more posts more people more happy meal entrants.

I’m happy to just shut up and play my own plays. I’d still follow the discussion as a lurker. If it’s such an issue and distraction to have people discussing playing conditions, course setup, potential let-downs from individual players, AM/PM splits, etc. from day-to-day, though, then I’m not sure what the daily “showdown” contests are for, though. Yeah, it’s a different format, but it’s the same contest. I don’t complain about the posts about “BoFR bonuses” and “streaks.”

I’ll try to include more information that’s generally useful & informative. But I’m not sure I understand the complaints about MKF in general. This week’s discussion was heavier than most, is my guess, with the weather delay and the wildly-bad lines. We typically keep the discussion pretty minimal mid-round in my thoroughly-biased opinion.

The combination of the wind and then sleeping on Cantlay sweat definitely caused increased volume but yeah, I don’t see how it’s any different than a general course discussion

And the half-of-the-forum estimate seemed rather aggressive

At the end of the day we’re all here trying to make money on golf

This is an interesting discussion re: MKF that I actually tried heading off over a year ago when I suggested having a different thread. I think I was one of the first people to bring the platform to the fourm, but I did this merely as a way of sharing a very profitable venture on the same principal, picking golfers to play well or poorly based on conditions, history, recent form, etc.

The goal of DFS is to have fun, sweat it out and ultimately win money. I have been playing on DK/FD since the golf product was introduced and I’m probably hovering around even, although I’ve had a few great sweats. Last year on a new site, I won more money than I thought I could playing DFS golf based off the same exact types of choices and information as making my DK/FD lineups. This is not an advertisement, it is genuine excitement and wanting to share in the profits of having fun playing DFS golf, but like others have said, I will start posting less directly related to MKF and go back to contributing more information beforehand relevant to all the DFS platforms. I have always enjoyed reading and providing information to this forum so if we need to have a separate thread each week, I am 100% behind this and will contribute to both as well.

I think there is a correlation between MKF strategy and DFS strategy – the MKF discussion really digs into the weather and course conditions more so than most DFSers go as they see the weather over 4 days as mostly a non issue other than a couple events where in MKF when you are betting one guy versus another (not against 150 other golfers), an edge can definitely be had in playing weather/tee times.

The confusing part for me is when the MKF guys start talking fantasy points as they are so diff than DKs points, I have to stop and recalculate the different ways to score 25 or 26 points in MKF.

It is not that hard to scroll over a few posts off topic for what someone is looking for – it’s no different than when I start talking about a player changing club manufacturers or when I talk about other golf courses I have or want to play – we all digress, it’s not hard to ignore and roll on by.

I’d vote to keep it all in one thread as it’s not that bad BUT of course as I say that we have a shit-show week on our hands where we have #1 a no-cut WGC event at a new course #2 the PRO with no shot tracker and a brutally weak field AND #3 an LPGA event with GPPs that rival the PRO GPPs.

So yes, it’s gonna get messy with 3 events all talked about in the one thread not to mention MKF on 2 of them.

I don’t/can’t play MKF. I also read and enjoy all the MKF pre-lock talk as it relates to DFS particularly Showdown. I post about Sportsbook which many others can’t play, so it’d be pretty hypocritical for me to dog on the MKF chatter. Count me firmly in the crowd that supports MKF chatter even though I can’t play it, and I am indifferent on whether that chatter continues in this thread or moves to another. I think all golf chatter should be encouraged in here, and all political blather and soap boxing should be discouraged.

There are no negatives with MKF fantasy point scoring. A bogey is zero points…a triple bogey is zero points. If I’m betting guys to play better than the lines, I typically bet the fantasy points. If I’m betting guys to do worse than the lines, I’m typically betting the strokes (where a triple helps me much more).

4 birds and zero bogeys is 26 MKF fps. That’s my baseline when looking at the lines. If lines are 25.5, I’m looking at needing 5 birds to go over since I can’t count on a bogey free round. 5 birds gives me a 2 hole leeway with bogey or worse.
