Does anyone know of a good source to retrieve historical GPP % ownership? (Largest weekly GPP). Milli maker and other big events seem widely available but not others.

I have been archiving historical PGA salaries and pts scored in case anyone is looking for this or would want to trade off duties in updating. The GPP % owned stat would be nice to have going backwards to identify general public player bias.

I emailed DK support. They indicate that only historical data from last 30 days is available (if you entered the contest). Has anyone been playing the DK large GPPs lately? I missed last weeks $3 GPP as I only played WSOP ME qualifiers.

In exchange for sending me the .csv I will provide you historical % ownership which I guarantee is worth your 2 minutes to download and email a .csv file from DK. I will PM you my email if interested.

Thoughts on Tony Finau? Recent form is excellent and just barely out of the 10k.

    How is that a statistic?

More so just trend spotting rather than actual stats. certainly holds merit. we all have our methods to the madness. for instance: anyone i have high exposure to, you should fade because anytime i overexpose to a player they are an epic fail :)

  • theoddsmaker

BOLD PREDICTION: Paul Casey will be high owned and be this week’s dumpster fire MC Chalk Flavor of the Week.

it’s just that finishing Top 10 is already a tough thing to do really. So if a guy gets a Top 10 finish he gets reset right back into his pre-round probability to finish in the Top 10 again the next tourney (so you’re theory will be “right” more times then not). Only McIlroy and Spieth are reserved to be set at 50%+ chance of finishing in the Top 10 every week.

Just going a bit overboard but an extreme example would be “people who win the lotto usually don’t follow up with another win”. We know that is ridiculous but it drives home my point that the next event is independent of the first so we know that the person who won goes right back to the one in 6 million chance of winning the lotto the next time it is run (i.e. unlikely)

past winner. Recent play has not been to hot I was wondering what that will do for his ownership.

I was wondering the same. I think the recent form may scare some people off but I’ll be sure to have some shares of a defending champ for that price.

I managed to fit bubba in with some other guys I liked

  • MrSnuffleupagus

Bubba is two for two going 30th and 16th in this event, with his current form and his confidence level, def worth putting in.

Tony F obviously will playing this event for first time.

You guys are both confusing me here… but this can’t be true. If the next event was independent, why would we ever look at current form?

I really like Finau this week. He’s been on an amazing run. I saw somewhere that he made more feet of putts last week than anyone… now, that means his proximity to the hole #s weren’t very good, but he’s hitting greens and the putter was working. And with a presumably wet course this week his length will be a big benefit and the lack of accuracy shouldn’t hurt him too much. I like his chances to get a top 5.

Or it means he made a lot of ten footers or he made one 100 footer.

Ya, a couple hundred footers is possible. I tried to dig in a bit after I saw the stat, but couldn’t find details on any round other than his 4th. his SGP for the week was 5.184 (11th), which indicates he did more than just make a 100 footer. Based on his SGP and his GIR numbers last week and reviewing his 4th round, I think the scenario I outlined is more likely.

Both Bubba Watson and Webb Simpson have homes at the course, deals with the Greenbrier Sporting Complex, and very good track records at the course. The question is, can you fit them both in and feel comfortable.

any opinions on Bowditch for cash games? I don’t see any talk of him in this thread, but Timothy Frank of FantasyInsiders called him “the best value on the board.”

note: FI is a pay site, so out of respect for them I’ll refrain from posting any of Frank’s reasoning.

He is a solid play for a GPP. Bowditch hasn’t missed a cut since his win, but still is Steven Bowditch and is very inconsistent. For positives:

Averaging around 20th in his last four starts.
Was 3rd last week in scrambling, 5th in sand saves, 4th in driving distance (both measured and all drives). His last five rounds have been in the 60’s.

  • mgv1208

I don’t like bowditch mainly because you can get streb and bohn for $100 more on dk and they’re both better. Bowditch does hit the ball pretty far tho so I guess for a boom bust gpp play that’s fine

More positives: some strong finishes in his course history. His in-laws are members, he’s “very familiar” with the course.

Current form is a whole different animal and this is simply holding a player to unrealistic expectations they are unlikely to meet is all. Which will give a false sense of an actual theory.

If a guy like Paul Casey shows good form by a 2nd place finish, sure his power rating will see a bit of a boost with current form but it doesn’t mean he should be held to the 50-55% chance of a top 10 finish which is Rory/Spieth part of the atmosphere. So this week he is more likely to not back up his top 10 finish with another one..giving the “guys that finish in the top 10 rarely back it up with another” another tick mark, which is really just regression

  • Frustrated

I’m actually optimistic this week. I have a lineup where all six play the morning on Thursday. Don’t fail me now Webby!

  • ninerzfan8

Does anyone have an onljne source they would be willing to share for cuts made ytd? Preferrably in a table format so it can be put into an excel worksheet?

I know dk has the info, but it doesn’t show up when yoy export the csv player list to excel. Pgatour.com only has events, top tens, wins, and consecutivs cuts from what I can find. ESPN has the info but will only spit out the table 40 players to a page, so its 16 pages of data.
