Wow! There have been some big changes in prices on Fanduel in the last few days. I guess the Grinch decided to show up to jack up the prices of a lot of players. Think you can get Seguin for $8700? Think again. Now you pay $9400. Want some Tarasenko action for $8200. Sorry, now you pay $9100. What about Kane for $8700? Nope. You need to pay $9400 now. Well at least you can get Draisatl at a bargain price of $3800 right? Try again. Now he is $5300. Good luck to all!…

Softer pricing lessens the skill necessary to win. Tighter pricing will always be better for more skilled players. If that makes me a Grinch then Bah Humbug.

Lol. This is a dumb post. Should prices never change? I’m tryin to figure out if you are being serious or not? Hope this is a (poor) attempt at trolling.

I for one get sick of playing the same guys night after night in hockey.

Their hockey pricing seemed to be the slowest of all sports to change so I welcome it.

Draistl, Larkin, Panarin, Gotisbehere. Many of these guys were in EVERY cash lineup any night they played due to value of their unchanging price.

i dont play hockey, but it seems like he is complaining about the sharp increase in prices across the board. his examples all seemed like a pretty hefty increase

His examples are three of the top five hockey players in the game right now.

Benn and Ovie are over 10K

  • hkneas

Those prices were standstill forever, they needed to be increased.

  • YoungFischer

It should be pointed out that prior to the change, FD had some of the loosest NHL pricing in the industry

  • tvsfrink

I just like saying “Ghost Be Here” when filling out a lineup. I don’t care what it costs me.

The whole point of this post was to point out that Fanduel finally adjusted their prices accordingly and it will be more difficult to roll with the same players. In no way am I complaining as I agree that this will force people to think more about their choices. I just thought it was interesting that these changes occurred just after Christmas so I titled the post as I did. Good luck to all. I certainly had to think harder about my choices tonight already given the price increases.

They reduced pretty much every players salary and now everybody has nearly the same lineup because its so damn soft. Boring product right now and shall I say not much of a skill game at the moment. I doubt they care but I’m going to significantly scale back my play there if something doesnt change soon.

  • tvsfrink

The good news is you can now roster Leland Irving for a mere $6,200.

  • garybmw

DK just raised Holtby and Ovechkin by $500-$700 as well. Tired of people stacking high players I guess

Agreed. I don’t have near the volume that you do but I have stopped completely. Previously, I was playing daily. Going to focus on DK now since they have a superior product.

I’ve moved off FD. They are the worst.

I feel like with plus minus being so important, I always would want the same guys on Fanduel. I only played for one week there this season.

Just when I thought the salaries couldn’t get any lower.

  • dude_abides7

It’s important to note the back and forth here.

    - To start the season the salaries were a little soft. To some degree this is expected until we see what players get out of the gate strong.

    - Soon thereafter, salaries got very tight, very quickly. A guy like Colton Parayko went from 3500 to over 5000+ and guys like Paul Martin were even in the mid-4000’s.

    - About 2 weeks ago the salaries went soft again and with the exception of the Seguin-Benn-Sharp-Klingberg stack you could pretty much create any lineup scenario without running out of salary. This certainly made it easier for lesser experience players, but I agree with @aka_the_goat that this benefits the daily NHL grinder.

I haven’t done roster construction today so I am not sure how tight things now are, but I do think the salaries recently were a little soft.

  • depalma13

I have to pay 11,000 for Ben Simmons and Boogie Cousins. Hockey players have it easy.

  • tvsfrink

I have to pay over $10,000 for Corey Crawford, and I have less available to pay per player ($6,111 vs $6,667).

Not sure what the point is.

  • depalma13

The point is the best players are expensive in every sport. And you may have less to speed per player, but your min price players are $2500 vs $3000, so I think that makes up for it.

  • tvsfrink

Exactly. I’m not saying hockey players have it harder, I’m contesting your statement that “hockey players have it easy.”
