    Vijay Singh week?

  • BrianVT

I have “Beat the Forum” this week. Will post some contests when salaries are up.

Interesting field this week, overall I would say we got a few more big names than this event has drawn the last few years, but then at the same time, some of the big names you would’ve expected to play since they live right near the course are skipping this week with the Players on the horizon. Pricing should be interesting since there is a pretty big drop off in player caliber between chunks of the field

Anyone we should be concerned about for playing their 5th tournament in a row? Patrick Rodgers is, but he did have a mini-break via missing the cut at Pebble Beach. Also he’s just 27…

It will be interesting to see the MKF lines on a difficult scoring course as this. EDIT: Fantasy Points wise.

More like 8 weeks in a row for him!

On the one hand, Broogsy’s knee is still a concern, this is not a major, and he will almost certainly be really expensive.

On the other hand, it’s a difficult course, it’s his hometown event, and he was T2 last year.

I can’t stand Burger King food, but this could be a hometown BK/Berger for all the $ opportunity.

Oh, and Keith Mitchell is min priced on Yahoo, naturally.

Maybe that’s why Rodgers shot 75 on Sunday at the PRO and dropped to 35th?

Aaaah one of my favorite weeks of the years – love that we get a carnage week after a bunch of birdie fests (Hawaii, Palm Desert, Waste, México); bring on the Bear Trap and ultra fast Bermuda greens

Ya I haven’t had much luck in the birdie fests lately, feels like they have more variance so you need more lineup combos to have a shot, whereas if you nail the one or two guys who play well on a tough course you can be a little off on your value plays and still post big results. Hoping to turn it around this week after a rough one at the WGC for my bankroll

This field for the Monday Q is almost better than the field that just played in Puerto Rico – some bigger names have WD from it as well like Noren

Noren must be hurt. He royally screwed me over on many PRO entries last week

Tom Lovelady had 4 birdies and an eagle, still shot a 77.

That is the carnage I am looking for this week.

So this week I learned the hard way what the “Dead Heat Rule” is in golf betting. In the PRO I bet Julien Etulain and bet on him being in the T20. Unfortunately he finished T20 tied with a bunch of other golfers. I had done a parlay that I thought was going to win me three figures which instead barely went 3x.

To help others: If you do a parlay and one side of it is the “Dead Heat Rule”, you only get one side of the parlay.

Ex. My original wager was +335 and +500 parlay at +2600. Let’s say $30 to win $810 Etulain was +500

With the DHR rule, you still win but you don’t win +2600, you only win the +335 part of it. So it becomes $30 to win $120 or so.

Thank you for coming to my Ted talk

The Dead Heat Rule is actually designed for straight bets where your bet wins but is in a 2+ way tie and you odds get reduced accordingly – in a parlay, you need to win all legs, your T20 multiple ways is basically a tie as it won (in your eyes) but didn’t win outright so that game/wager is scored as a push and basically removed from the (winning) parlay ticket calculation.

Had you bet Julian straight at the Top 20 +500, you would have gotten a smaller share but still won a piece of it.

Parlay rules are slightly different than straight wager rules.

    something new by DK……

contests added to Lobby/golf/Honda classic but no salaries yet (usually only the few Big GPPs avail until salaries).
I wonder if they are trying to add in the Monday qualifiers before they release or maybe something was wrong with what they had?

if nothing else, it will be nice to have golf before 11am…. thank god for the Florida swing

What do you guys consider as key stats for this course? I do not want to get too crazy with too many stat categories but see if I am on the right track. It seems like Driving Accuracy is less important. I am looking at Driving Distance, Strokes Gained – Approach … also have been thinking about Par 5 Scoring, Scrambling maybe bogey avoidance. Curious on what stats you guys may or may not look at and factor in this week. I am trying to keep it at 3 to 5 stats, do a composite ranking and then factor that into the rest of my model that has current form and course history. Or I have been debating whether to do a key stat rank when you have course history as it would seem if a guy has good course history … I would guess that player should already rank well in key stats for that course and then feels like I am double dipping a little bit. Thoughts?

  • Supersharpie

So, FD posted their contests but none of them are denoted as “streak eligible.”

What gives? Probably just an oversight on their part. I assume this week’s contest is going to be the $9 Eagle.
