This golf tournament is like the NASCAR race

One has a 4 shot lead and the other has an 11 second lead

Kurt Busch getting wrecked by some dummy hurt my good NASCAR lineup.

I did finish 4th in the ‘PGA TOUR $5K mini-MAX [150 Entry Max]’ out of 11,890 entries.

    www.draftkings.com/contest/gamecenter/105005161?uc=2596695020#/

Which is worth $50, btw. Harrumph. (But that lineup also won tickets in all 8 satties it was in, plus nice cash in the big dime and quarter thinghies.)

    Nice work 👍

I won 1 of the $100 Master Milly tickets but was invested for about that so could have just bought the ticket myself – ha ha

Won a couple of the $44 tickets off $4 entries and lost a little overall as I had zero Jones and too much Lowry who faded bad on the weekend.

So that’s what happened to my other 6/6. Was hoping to pick up another ticket or two with it, but Lowry with the +4 and Schwartzel with the +3 meant it actually finished behind a Matt Jones 5/6.

So…my stretch goal for the Masters is 20 of those $10 tickets. Only 9 to go, and one tournament left…

Valero Texas Open at TPC San Antonio (Oaks Course), here we go…Hey look, there’s Corey Conners!

I played my 6/6 lineup of 473.50 DK pts.in 497 mostly cheap satellite contests for $123.

Hopefully about 100 tickets won. Thank you Matt Jones and friends.

Congrats! I would have won more tickets had I gone single bullet (or 3-max) and entered it/them 5X in those dime satties with 5 ticket prizes. And picked my good lineup as one of them, but that’s the rub.

Each week I try put what I think is the best of my 20 in the Happy Meal. And next best in the Kids Meal. And what usually happens is they turn out to be the worst ones.

I did well in Yahoo. Especially the smaller gpps. That was a good bounce back. Conversely, I’ve been middling since December. This season has felt weird, no?

Aren’t you jumping ahead a little? We have Dell match play and Corales first (at same time)

I have never played these match plays. Are they fun or complete crapshoot?

Big week for the MKF crowd. Kenya opened hilariously low, and literally every contest I played for full-tourney cashed. (They started with full-tournament lines of 11.5-14.5 birdies for a birdie fest. Closed at 18.5-19.5, which still cashed.) Honda opened with reasonable lines, but the guys that played “less” on birdies cashed nearly everything (except Henley afaik?) and the guys that played “overs” for fantasy points also cashed everything as MKF over-adjusted late into Wednesday. Birdies for several guys was a sweat, as was Gooch as he failed to do basically anything after barely making the cut.

They are fun, but the key is getting your guy to the top 4. You need to pay attention to the draw and bracket. 1 guy comes out of each group and group 1 winner does not play group 16 winner.

Oh yeah. I didn’t think there were enough days left before the Masters for two tournaments and just looked at the one before it. More chances to load up on them tickets!

I never listen or pay any attention to the tours but if there ever was a time to do so then this would be it

Sounds like optimizers will rule this tournament in 150 max. I know you guys dont like to hear that but I am going to switch up my routine and sites I use to focus more on groups and rules to my build.

It’s a lot of fun. I built my own lineup builder in Excel a couple years ago because most sites don’t develop what you need to put the group/bracket constraints in. I think the paid site I use did it for the first time last year, but I haven’t seen what they have available this week. However, any site would have to put a good bit of extra development time in-place for this one tourney to get their tool just right.

So optimally you want six of the eight pool winners.

So if you were on Bryson to win then you would want his quarterfinal opponent and not his round of 16 opponent and then all four pool winners from the other side of the bracket?

There are historical stats that say the likelihood of getting all final 4 in your 6 are almost nil (it does happen, but really rare); partly because of salary constraints. So, at some point you have to accept that your guys might knock each other out. Some people have even been known to take two guys from the same group, because you might think that whichever one of those two guys that gets out of his group has a nice path to the final after getting past the other.

I guess we need to get a thread started. Last year, this one tournament went for 127 pages: https://rotogrinders.com/threads/dell-technologies-match-play-pga-2441978?page=1

Yea, I accidentally landed on the one from 3 years ago. The search feature in RG is absolutely terrible, IMO.

Here’s the one from two years ago (didn’t play the tourney last year): https://rotogrinders.com/threads/dell-technologies-match-play-pga-2980006

Does that mean DK pricing will not come out until late today with the 11am bracket reveal? Not much time to build all those lineups before Wednesday.

Yep, it’s a quick scramble with play starting Wed. Print that bracket as soon as you see it.

This is really annoying that the PGA site only lists the 2019 results for this tournament (whereas you can typically click a drop-down to choose older years for all other tournaments): https://www.pgatour.com/tournaments/wgc-dell-technologies-match-play/past-results.html

Anybody have a source for more than 2019?

It appears tomorrow I will be busy doing this then. Im afraid though the analytical/process math dudes are going to be able to do what takes me 15 hours to do in about five minutes. This is such a weird event hopefully the field makes a ton of mistakes.

I can tell you that I have not been very successful at this, even though I really enjoy it and put a solid mathematical process into it. There’s always some crazy surprises with low seeds upsetting everyone. There’s also like 32M different possible lineup combinations with a chance of having 6 of the final 8, or something crazy like that.
