Here’s a question I have. What was the 6/6 rate here last time this tournament was played?

If the 6/6 rate ends up at 5% or less, I sort-of buy the argument that the KSDT is more of a free square – you’re getting a cutmaker with some upside. If you miss – NBD.

My issue is that this is a smaller field and I see the 6/6 rate at > 10%. Suddenly KSDT’s upside is limited and his downside is you could now have a useless 5/6 in a world where there are a lot of 6/6.

In MME it gets even trickier. Do you try to match 12% of your LUs to the field, or do you put him in 25% of your LUs with that much risk? I see no point in sprinkling in 5% if the field is 12%.

Its not the Kyle Stanley Hugs Train guys. Its the Kyle Stanley DEATH Train. I get the max entry people having him but there’s no way in hell his chalky ass ends up anywhere near my single bullet.

However, kbarnhill is really good at this and I’m effing terrible so all aboard everyone!

A PDF was sent to players and caddies earlier this week outlining the changes to Muirfield Village Golf Club over the last 10 months. The renovation to the Nicklaus masterpiece was done to make the course more playable for the members. This story was first reported by Geoff Shackleford.

This wonderful tag was around before I joined.

Anyone know how it came about ?

BrianVT had a comment (6 down) that is relevant. But he said it was nickname here before he came around. (And he was here before I was.)

Watching the drone over view, they removed many big tree’s as you can see by placement of new tree growth. Though they left others that they hope with the new irrigation and watering may bring them back. Believe it’s hole 4 or 5 where you see at least 2 or 3 large growth on the creek that are dead and should of been removed but would of drastically changed the course. Also seems they added lots of undulation to a few fairways and a few greens. This week will be interesting, but keep in mind I am ‘no pro’ played it a few times. Favorite tourney of the year, in 10-12 years if we are all still around the course will play harder with the new tree placements and bunkers.

Been on vacation this week and really not caring about anything. It’s been a long year and a half since COVID started.

Only going with two LU’s this week, however flying back to Indiana for a family function, going to blow some $ on the Sportsbook.

PS: BIF & Whodat, played TPC San Antonio on Monday, shot 95, which is about ten higher than my normal round. Started double, double, double, then hit my approach on four to a foot. I played well after that. 😂

I was around and I can tell you how it came up.

Stanley had a good day1 and crashed on day 2. A gif was used I think it was the train bridge that was falling into the chasm. death train wasnt yet given. then another gif of a train wreck, and another…and some clever person called it the death train and someone else started KSDT. I dont know when it was or who….It wasnt me :)

Didn’t Bryson have his meltdown here last year?

I thought the death train was in reference to his blow up at Torrey Pines in 2012 when he had a 7 shot lead going into the back nine on the last day. He had a 3 shot lead going into the 18th, par 5. Laid up, and then hit his 3rd in the water, three putts later he tripled with an 8. Than lost in a playoff.

  • timusbr

BIF whodat jimK and many others were here before me. 2012 was before me. I believe titanhawk who said it was Dewok’s tag. I really dont know. It took hold in like a 2 week stretch (guessing). some could have had 2012 in mind.

but i agree with kingspark35 its a great tag.

I think so, a lot happened to him here. he was in contention too. his power off the tee was headline news. I think the ants were against him here ( i could be wrong). I know he hit the exact same shot out of bounds twice and still hit a third without taking a drop.

    On the SEASON:
    • 69th SGOTT
    • 36th SG:APP
    • 45th SG T2G
    • 15th GIR%
    • 5/6 cuts with no worse than 39th
    • Tends to play better when the course isn’t a birdie fest

The dude is flat-out mispriced. There’s no good reason to fade other than “ownership”, which in PGA is mostly irrelevant because its usually pretty tough to get a 6/6.

He’s projected at 12% ownership. TWELVE. Not 25, 30 or 40. Fading him is the worst possible move. There is no statistical argument to do so.

    /rant

EDIT – I will be going 30% in my ownership of KSDT in MME and he will be in my single/cash lineup. I want to make sure I am at least 2x the field.

When a golfer is substantially underpriced, you have to take advantage.. awesemoe has him 17% ownership. I will also be 30%. Any player can miss cut,and if ksdt does, people will be bragging about “easy fade for me”. I would like anyone to explain fact based reasons to fade.

    fact based reasons to fade.

This is the key to me, because I don’t think there are any fact-based arguments to fade in this spot. If you’re running a SE and want to fade to load up on the 7500-8500 range because you think that whole group might go underowned due to people playing KSDT with a few 9K guys, I can see that argument but throw me in to the group that’s going to be way above the field on him.

    While I’m here…

Win: I like X over Reed
    Fade: Conners
    Sleepers: Davis, Rodgers, Merritt

I would like anyone to explain fact based reasons to fade.

lfn1992 did explain it…it’s a game theory call. If KSDT misses the cut and you play someone else less-owned who makes it, you gained leverage.

The difference between golf DFS and NHL, for instance, is this: If you play some min-priced winger because he got promoted to the top line that night and he puts up a goose egg, it’s not really going to hurt you. As long as you use that salary on other players who are going to get you a winning score.

OTOH, if someone in your lineup MC’s in golf, you’ve got a 5/6. Maybe it will cash, but it’s almost never going to win.

For myself, I’ve long been a player of KSDT because he make me laugh. Sometimes through the tears, but still. So I have him in 6 of 20. My pivot is that clown Russell Knox who aggravated the hell out of me last week. I feel like I have to play him because if he does well this week, I’ll be pissed off to the 3rd power. (So this is not game theory, just me managing my anger levels.) Knox in 2 of 20.
