I posted this on Thursday after Lovemark, Tway and O’Hair had the lead with opening round 66’s about people not getting too excited about guys doing good/bad and those 30 position points for 1st

After 72 holes, these 1st round leaders finished:

    T28 O’Hair
    T36 Lovemark
    T56 Tway

Yes, those position points skew up the leader board. There is days with a person having three T1 in a line-up and an improbable 90 points for 1 st place added to their total. Wish they added position points after the tournament is over.

Very nice work, well done and congrats. A well constructed single line-up has all the upside when the core hits and it is a beauty. I am all about mastering a single bullet.

The single bullet is the best cost effective way to play. more challenging statistically to win. Always good to hear from the single bullet guys.

lol its just more fun to play multiple LU’s IMHO

Yes, it takes a lot of practice and also accepting one has to make a stand on some calls that are 50/50. Playing the Yahoo Cup is a great way to practice a single bullet for Golf, as everyone has one chance per week in the Cup.

Oh yah 😂 I thought there was 4 guys but I only looked at the 1st round 66’s of the guys who made cut.

This is certainly a good lesson, of those that shot 67 or better on Thursday, only 1 of the 17 finished inside the top 10 (Koepka T8). You have to go down to the 68 & 69s to find a group that really picked up momentum and finished well

Cooper you have not been yourself on here these last couple weeks. Not sure what’s going on but I hope everything is ok

Finally getting back to catch up on everything. Not a great week for me. I won one triple up not the other. No GPP cashes. Lots went wrong and some that was out of my control. Somehow I managed to tie whodat with a 5 v 5? Winner DK…

On a happy note congrats LionIrons for the Club Twirl Satty! Thanks for the the ability to do this Dunzor. LionIrons PM me and I will paypal the winnings. Congrats other winners.

Don’t make the switch ever – just keep compiling. Ideally your baseline for each golfer would be a 4-5 year window. Using longer time frames will save you from thinking guys like Chesson Hadley are good golfers because they put up great stats on the west coast and it took 6 months to average back down.

Good advice, I love it … just not sure how to compile these stats from Pgatour.com, as I am using the weekly rankings. Are you saying capture each players rank from the most recent year and average it into each consecutive year’s rank? Or is there a better way to compile these? Like storing each players ranking from each week in a database and then averaging that over time? Thanks for the thoughtful response.

    I mean i would think you’d always want to use a running 52 week sample (or 75, 30 , etc) whatever….

The “season” is pretty irrelevant in golf its not like college basketball where the guy has an offseason to lift weights and work on his game

Yeah, no I hear you. Thing is I’ve been using pgatour.com’s rankings for the different stat categories I use, and those update every week. I started playing DFS like a month and a half ago, so the stats were pretty solid (I’m assuming pgatour.com uses the stats from the entire season – since the pages are broken down into years – to come up with these weekly rankings, but maybe they don’t? Maybe they are only based on this week and last week? I thought they were using the guys’ entire year’s performance in these categories and then ranking them each week. Would help a lot to know if this is not the way they are calculated).

Actually, now that I think about it, they definitely are based on the entire year’s stats, as they have the number of rounds listed that the stats are based on. So, maybe my question is, what happens when the season “rolls over?” Once the playoffs end, and we have our first tourney of the new season in a month or so, what are pgatour.com’s 2019 rankings going to be based on? Just that first tourney of the year, or the past 52 weeks?

  • Brogias

Had a profit this week with 70% Dechambeau. 13/14 of my golfers made the cut. (20 Lineups)

The one who didn’t was Rose who I had 80% exposure. Oh what could’ve been….

    First tourney of the year.

Rough finish was killing it on Friday with a JT/DJ/Brooks/Gay/Tway/Armour lineup that was sitting 40th out of 12K, then it crashed back to earth and all I managed was min cashing.

Had a 6/6 LU not even come close to cashing, then had DeChambeau in a LU that was 3/6. Just a tough week. Congrats to the winners this week, it was tricky. On to the next.

i dont knwo for sure but id guess theyd start anew…. so in your case id recommend saving this year end rankings and using them for long term avg…

things like driving distance will probably even out pretty quickly but id hate to start weighting a guy like Horschel as a poor approach shot guy bc he starts off 2019 on a cold streak… or JJ spaun as a good putter…etc
