Woodland could be good for sure due to his excellent long irons, but I would caution relating it too much to pebble. Pebble is a very short course with a lot of short irons/wedges, but Liberty National is pretty long, so you’re gonna see a lot more long irons hit this week I think. Woodland still very much a consideration.

Woodland had twins a couple of days a go and will be running on low sleep. I’m not sure if that matters. Is the baby bump in golf a thing like it is in other sports?

Congrats to good luck to the FWGC guys this week! #represent

If they just had twins and he’s off on the road golfing without them, then he’s likely catching up on sleep and feeling great. But hey, I’m not a pro golfer.

While technically this course is not in New York, I would say it’s close enough for Empire State Phil to make a good showing and bust some LU’s.

The other issue with Woodland is that he won at Pebble with incredible ATG numbers, even though his ATG leading up to that event was very poor. So, he played as an outlier to his data, which of course means there’s no way we’d be able to target a player like that, or say that Woodland is that type of player. I guess those points are the golf DFS struggle in a nutshell, though.

According to the Wiki page for Liberty National Phil is a member here. Could be an interesting play even though his form lately has been less than appetizing.

USA kicked butt here in the 2017 Presidents Cup, so loading up on Americans is a must, right?

As a low stakes player I’m happy with some of DK’s contests for this week.
Not sure if anyone else was asking for it, but we got another big Dime Time contest (~23k entries).
The $.50 is back to the 150-max and $1 to 20-max. Nice!

well only 122 players are listed on DK. So 3 of the T125 are passing on the event. I am surprised that more didnt pass on RD1 of fed ex playoffs.

In the past he has skipped the first playoff event as long as he was going to still qualify for the 2nd. Seems a bit of an odd choice given the reduction to 3 events now instead of 4 but I haven’t heard anything injury related so I’m guessing it must be a schedule thing for him where he doesn’t like to play this week

  • Felixxberg

Thanks timusbr and Dunzor. Does anyone have any insight on who could be injured but playing anyway?

  • lfn1992

GL FGWC guys. I wasted quite a bit of bankroll trying to make it in, had 3 different $33 ticket shots to make it but couldn’t. Wish I was among you guys.

In the EURO playoffs it is not uncommon for the big guns to skip the first rounds of those qualifying if they have a huge point lead. Undoubtedly for “load management”. Though I think (but am not 100% sure) that they will fill the field with 126, 127, etc. if the big guns wish to not get the free points.

They changed the FedEx structure I think so that more points gives you a huge advantage for the final, undoubtedly to keep the top guys from skipping this event.

    Is there a cut????

Casey, Burns (injury) & Stenson are the 3.

Henrik is outside the top 70, so he is skipping the entire playoffs this year.

I am sure this will come up again in a couple weeks when we get to the Tour Championship, but does anyone understand the reasoning behind the stroke differential at the start of the Tour Championship?

I am guessing with the changes to the Tour Championship and the FedEx cup playoffs being cut from 4 to 3 events there will be less players skipping the first 2 rounds of the playoffs since if your not in the top 10 of the FedEx cup points your pretty screwed heading into the tour championship and expecting to do well. I wouldn’t feel good about spotting Brooks 10 shots before anyone hits tee shot.

Yes this is the only playoff even with a cut. T70 and ties with no MDF.

Ya so the change was in how they wanted the FedEx cup to play out. In the past apart from the Top 5 guys winning the Tour Championship, it was a bit of a math puzzle to figure out who was in the lead throughout the day and it could be someone a few groups in front of the leaders like Rose was last year. They changed the rules this year so that you don’t have to do any more points math at the championship, instead they are essentially pre-ranking the field and the leaders get to start certain number of strokes ahead of others so that when it comes to the Championship everyone knows exactly where they stand so that if you close that gap of strokes they got from the rankings then you can win the Cup without having to run through what if scenarios

The change was made since people complained and didn’t like how Tiger won the Tour Championship but Justin Rose won the FedEx Cup. This move is supposed to make it so there is no longer two things up for grabs but now there can only be 1 winner.

It will make DFS kind of suck when position points matter and guys are spotting each other up to 10 strokes.

My first thought in getting this week put together was Course History.
    The 2017 Presidents cup
    USA Team >>> International Team
    Dustin Johnson4.5 >>> Louis Oosthuizen 2.5
    Jordan Spieth 3.5 >>> Branden Grace 2
    Justin Thomas 3.5 >>> Jason Day 1.5
    Patrick Reed 3.5 >>> Anirban Lahiri 1.5
    Phil Mickelson 3.5 >>> Hideki Matsuyama 1.5
    Rickie Fowler 3.5 >>> Si-woo Kim 1
    Kevin Kisner 3 >>> Marc Leishman 1
    Brooks Koepka2 >>> Charl Schwartzel 1
    Daniel Berger 2 >>> Adam Scott 1
    Matt Kuchar 2 >>> Jhonattan Vegas 1
    Kevin Chappell1.5 >>> Adam Hadwin 0.5
    Charley Hoffman1 >>> Emiliano Grillo 0

this is just a team list and points won not who played who. BUT if the US didnt win this it would be noteworthy. I am not sure it carries any relevance.
