Thanks – that clarified things. Actually I have to say their procedure worked perfectly. They truly did avert a disaster.

Also, Sam Horsfield is still a lucky bastard.

Oh it could have been a mess. I’m still not sure it won’t be but at least the plane wasn’t “contaminated” before it left.

We are going to be some night hawks this week (well not you UK guys!).

    Thanks for the clarification!

there idiots for not getting a vaccine months ago. its readily availabe, has been for months. The fact they saw a guy forced to WD with a 6 stroke lead and lost over a million dollars (Rahm), tells me they cannot learn from mistakes of others. Matsuyama cost me a bunch of money, I dont blame covid, or rules about covid, I blame Nasty Yams. I keep this going because we will certainly see other idiots and we have no ability to realize who is a WD risk or who is not. Unless you can provide me with credible info that say’s extenuating circumstances or this whole covid thing is bullshit…..Yes they are idiots for testing positive ( In my less than Humble opinion). This isnt March of 2020, its July of 2021.

Only idiots would take the shot

Given Zach was tested by the PGA before getting on the plane, the chance that he is NOT vaccinated are very high. Not 100%, but unless it is reported differently, I’ll work off of this. Doesn’t matter for picking DFS players for the Open, but does put Zach in the possible idiot category.

  • Wander_Bread

Westwood seems like someone ripe to contend here. I actually like quite a few players in the 7k range… Fitzpatrick, Sergio, Westwood, Macintyre, Fowler, English, Grace, Poulter will all be in my player pool

I guess he’ll be one of the chalkiest players in that price range, if not overall. But some chalk is good. He’s already in my placeholder lineup.

I’m sure everyone was tested due to going to another country, vaccination doesn’t matter. That wouldn’t be a PGA thing, but a government thing.
Hell, I just went to Hawaii and you had to get tested no matter your vaccination status, and you couldn’t travel between islands without another test within 72 hours I believe.
That being said, I think if Zack was vaccinated he would have referenced it in his statement.

Just adding my perspective to the mme conversation.
A couple years ago I went over many different size contests and looked at the winning points it took to take it down.
I found that contests that only had 100 total teams had a winning scores that would easily be in the top 200 in any 30K+ contest. Last week the Happy Meal had 578 points and that would have taken 97th in the Short that had 24K entries.
Think about how hard it is to win even the happy meal.
In the $55 with 4100 entries the top score would have taken 3rd in the 24k entry Short game.
In Byo’s Milly ticket contest there was 13 total entries. His score would have beaten 22.5K out of 24K other players in the Short game.
This is consistent to what I remember finding out a couple years ago when I had a much deeper look into it.
What I came away with is that even if there is only 10 other teams, the winning scores are hard to beat and it does not matter if you label your attempt as a “cash” team or not. The goal is always 1st and the best scores are from 6/6’s and that should always be your first goal.
Now is it “smarter” to max 150 teams rather than any other amount? In the sense that 2 teams has better odds than only 1 team. Then I guess yes. But in reality the chances of winning it all is so ridiculously small even at 150 teams vs 20,000 + teams (This week is 60K!). No matter how top heavy payout structures are, it makes any amount of teams you want to enter is more about the “smarter” way you want to enjoy your wager and your bank account.

It does not matter how you cascade a core or how many cores. As long you put some reasonable thought and measure into every team using what ever reasonable criteria you chose. There is not a “smarter” way to construct a line up or a “smarter” way to construct mme line ups. The argument is always been “in case I am right”. But that is only useful using hindsight bias because there is only ever 1 right line up.
The goal is to get 1st. Whether you make 1 line up or 150. It is not reasonable to make any line up and say what position other than 1st you hope for. 1st is the only goal with every single line up anyone makes.

You only get to pick 6 players per team. At the end there will be 6 players that had the highest points total. Only 1 team will come the closest or nail the highest amount of points. It is not complicated. Ownership (gamblers fallacy) will not change that fact. Picking lower owned (which usually means lower odds) can make a ridiculously hard task even harder. Then trying to make it unique to lessen duplication makes it even more ridiculously harder yet. 100 teams sharing 1st wins 10 times more than the person with 2nd (101st monies) alone .

The winner in the 24K Short contest was Glover, Na. List, Norlander, Power, Moore. That cannot be viewed as dumb or smart. Just right. Whether it was done by making only one line up (bingo some call it) or from cascading 150 mme core(s) is utterly irrelevant.

My advice is to focus only on getting 6/6 while having some players having reasonable win equity and just enjoy it for what it is… Extremely hard and only entertainment.

There are different rules for different countries. I’m going to Spain later this week and you don’t need to be tested before the flight over if you have been vaccinated. Anyways, your comment about Zach’s statement is spot on. Totally agree he would have referenced it if he had been jabbed. Also, just glad I don’t have to consider him for the Open as his lower price and history there always entices me and I always cry afterwards.

Having the best golfers in the world on a links course, who all have some type of decent form and so many have a ton of win equity, makes me think much less about anyone’s salary here more so than any other tournament.

True, and I’m not sure what the UK’s rules are. But as strict as they are in the country right now, I’d be surprised if they didn’t require one.
The article I read stated that everyone on the plane was given a rapid PCR test, so unless everyone was unvaccinated, I don’t believe it was a PGA requirement.
Either way, it is what it is. Including the tears come Sunday!

I believe that was me at the PGA Championship. Yes he had a horrible Sunday and no I am not on him this week!

He was in my lineup and I was invested heavily into him on Jock MKT, still made money but it was looking reaaaal good the first 3 days.

Interesting – glad he went over early

Never saw any golf this weekend besides a couple hours of the John Deere as I was in a golf tourney Fri-Sun.
