One interesting thing I’d like to note. All year I play the free EURO fantasy contest and without a salary restriction you can pick six golfers for your “team”. The good part is that it shows live ownership of each golfer, and while it’s not an exact match to DK ownership, it is a good indicator.

I had to scroll down a LONG ways before I found Sergio.

Seems like people are pretty invested in th idea of “form” on here.

I looked it up on PGA stats page and when I saw Rory and Brooks ranked just about dead last out of 200 I decided it wasn’t worth looking into any further

Seriously. Nobody smashes a ball like Rory

Kuch, Finau, and EVR is an ok place to start this week right? Gonna try to do something different and actually make money at PGA this week.

  • dangasin

Don’t understand low owned tiger. I am biased tho

  • smallANDflaccid

Smash Factor sounds like frat bros in a bar ranking the hotness of the women who won’t talk to them.

I would keep your eye on the forecast. EVR tees off on Thursday right when the winds are supposed to really pick up and will play his entire round in them (as the forecast stands right now). I won’t let the weather affect my decisions when it comes to my top tier guys, but it will affect my bargain choices.

lets talk about smash factor a bit. its an interesting stat. basically a high smash factor correlates with less loft on ball flight while a low smash factor correlates with high ball flight.“That means for a 100 mph club speed the ball speed would be 150 mph. The higher the loft of the club, the lower the smash factor is expected to be. “ i assume the guy talked about it because one must hit the ball with a low ball flight height in order to combat the wind. im just thinking maybe this stat is going to be just noise because not every tournament played has wind concerns so golfers are going to be hitting the ball different in calm scenarios. but they do list the the highest and lowest smash values of each golfer. im thinking you can go by the highest smash factor value to assess if a golfer can go low or not. seems to be a better stat than apex height all in all. anyone have thoughts on this? seems like an interesting stat to delve into for a second.

edit: looking at the smash factor high value stats, it seems every golfer can smash high when needed so not sure how its helpful

  • dangasin

Smash factor is how well energy is transferred from club to ball.

Thanks. I’m planning to not look at weather until tonight to try and get as accurate of a forecast as possible but I’ll certainly keep that in mind. I think I might swap EVR for someone a little more expensive and “safer”, maybe Scott or Casey, and then build around those 3.

My sleeper…………Johnston. Im only going with one lineup.

  • lfn1992

My big tilt I am going through right now: fade or roster Chez? I’m not sure I love putting in shares of highly-owned Chez. Under 10% owned Chez, however…

Mats is chalk. 16 to 18 percent

    Day is 10 to 12

Why is Mats chalk this week? I don’t get it.

Dude can’t hit a putt from outside 8 feet on a flat green, how the hell is he gonna putt well here?

I like the first one and differentiate elsewhere or leave 400 to try and avoid dupes

  • dangasin

Smash factor is how efficient a swing is. Similar to how efficient an engine or solar panel produces electricity.

    Winner: Rahm
Fade(s): Tiger, DJ, Rickie, Casey, Mats
    Sleeper: Waring

Anyone looking at Billy Ho this week? Been playing solid all year, made the cut in all three majors and his price almost made me skip right past him. Have 0 shares at the moment but may have to hedge some EVR/Weis down to him and/or Hadwin.

I have some Billy Ho. Great form coming in, not sure he has what it takes to win, but at that price just making the cut will achieve value.

    Currently projected at ~5%

  • sfguy21

    Winner: Rory
    Fade: Tiger, Brooks, Moli
    Sleeper: Reed

  • mr_papageorgio

Thoughts on Andy Sullivan? He’s cheap, in great form, and looks to have a good tee time weather wise. Any red flags on him that I’m missing?

  • jcotdl

    I am 99% done.

    This is extremely accurate.

For example a few tournaments ago Cameron Champ was in a sand trap and totally missed the ball, and that impacted his score negatively.

You have to factor in if he smashed the night before though

  • JaBr

Haven’t seen much talk of Brandt Snedeker or Tommy Fleetwood this week.
Sneds wasn’t good at The Masters (73) or US Open (77), but was at the PGA Championship (16th).
Are we getting Fleetwoat or Fleetgoat this week?

Thanks. I’m thinking of leaving Finau out even if I like him and put him as my winner in the thread.

    My decision becomes:

    Finau-JT-Stenson or
    Finau-Fowler-Woodland or
    Niemann-JT-Fowler
