    Great News Great News

Just letting everyone know that the DK community team has approved satellite tickets for the Open Championship. No different than the contest that was run for the US Open, this will only be available for people who are in the Rotogrinders Golf Forum League. As mentioned for the US Open, I am hoping to grow these satellite contests with the DK community team and that will only continue to happen with the support from you and your participation. The participation level for the US Open was great, as the forum members showed excitement and we were able to fill the contest quickly! For the Open Championship we will once again have the satellite contest for the $444 pressure putt at a $9 buy in. Some of the feedback I received from the previous satellite was to lower the buy in and have multiple winners. With that in mind along with me wanting these satellite contests to be geared toward contests that many people can’t play on a regular basis I asked the DK community team for a contest that I don’t believe they have offered before. The DK community team came through and we will also have a $5 satellite for the $150 three max entry contest with the top two players earning a contest ticket. The $150 contest is typically a higher paid out contest with limited entrants and obviously three max entry. For the Open Championship the contest is $250,000 with 1851 entries.

Both of these contests are now available to enter within the Rotogrinders Golf Forum League. With your support, hopefully we can continue to grow this promotion with the DK community team. They have told me with good interaction we can potentially add more in the future. Thanks
    Coop

Around 50% filled between both, last US Open we had filled at end of Monday before DK filled there own similar satty’s.. with support we can get filled up so we can continue to receive these offers. Thanks

With the firmness of the fairways, I am half tempted to throw a short hitter, ZJ, in a good number of lineups. He played decent back in 07 at Carnoustie.

I know this is probably the smartest group of “golf guys” but man I’m hearing a lot of noise. Looks like a week for everybody to do whatever they see fit and let they chips fall where they may.

With these “400+” drives is there anybody we target or a shorter hitter we can bump up? Not that I was avoiding the short guys but I’m hearing everything is “even”. Maybe I’m just missing out and don’t know enough about golf.

With that being said, I’m loading up on Molinari and maybe even Rory. He owns Opens but I thought that earlier…

Just some of many similar quotes from golfers this week….

It’s a completely different course,” Fleetwood said Monday. “Shots that you’ve hit have literally no relevance for a lot of it.

It doesn’t do any harm to have played it for a few years. It doesn’t do any harm to have a course record, but it’s a completely different challenge to what we normally face.”

    yes I read them too,

here is what you didnt read. Tyrell Hatton for the last 2 years has been a god on St Andrews old course. and merely a human professional golfer on Carnoustie.

Fleetwood has taken down Carnoustie in different weather situations over the years. I dont know what you expect the Pro golfer to say pre-tournament. but if I was a favorite…That is what I would say to cover all the PR boxes.

after some prelim reading, I have seen some biases to CH on the Links championship. I have some cheaper names to throw out into my player pool. History is always relevant.

the last 2 years, Ive seen quotes about players driving the greens and plenty of 320+ drives. Carnoustie plays toughr than the other 3 courses by as much as 2 strokes.

so for my start, I find the narrative on this forum “off target”. We will need to agree to disagree. I am always skeptical of the PR and what players say. I am pretty sure you will find me almost 100% Tommy the Goat.

I think for most of the majors or WGC events with such strong fields it is as you say the ‘do whatever you see fit’ week. Pricing is soft, conditions don’t necessarily favor a particular shot type, and with all the top golfers in the world nearly anyone can compete for a week, so the biggest thing is going to be picking your exposure vs. the expected field ownership

We are truly missing a special tourney at the Barbasol. Lol

Anyone else looking at Willet this week for the lower end? Two fairly good finishes in a row now, including a good showing last week at Aberdeen.

I think he continues form and makes the cut here.

  • mitchsnyderdfw

It’s too bad DK is not running Barbasol contests this week. Would have like to seen what pricing Brittany Lincicome would get in that field.

I’m an addict, just looked at the field and would totally put a lineup or two in if they were running contests!

EDIT: The field might be better than a couple we’ve played this year.

The “AM/PM split” occurs at 11:36 local time. The Spieth/Rose/Rahm/Fowler/Oosthy/Casey/Reed/Finau/Schauffele group would have a nice advantage under current forecasts with tee times between 10 and 10:30am on Thurs and 3 and 3:30pm on Fri.

And that’s the struggle! I’ve got some names I wanna throw out but still too many up top so far.

Man, I hope DK posts a $3 Birdie. I got 20 tickets waiting to be used…

I’m not sure how you think this course negates Molinari’s strengths. From the sound of things long irons are going to be key since you may not need to hit drivers with the dried out fairways, and an accurate long iron game is one of Moli’s biggest strengths.

Because it’s a baked course for everyone. Moli is really good T2G but a baked course is a 320 yard drive with a 4 iron for everyone. Driving stats are out the window…you sort of lose control of where the ball eventually decided to stop rolling.

Not quite the JDC or Travelers.

This is what keeps leading me to Kevin Na and I’m not too excited about it.

    From DK moments ago…

We wanted to inform you that five new golfers have been added to the player pool for PGA contests beginning on 7/19; Keegan Bradley, Brandon Stone, Jens Dantorp, Michael Kim and Eddie Pepperell have all been added to the pool.

Mats and Tiger might be rocking a new taylor made driving iron prototype this week.

  • Jamcclea

Any interest in Adam Scott? Haven’t heard his name mentioned once.

  • manoffewwords

Molinari has made only 8 bogies the last 8 rounds of golf. He has had 3 bogey free rounds in last 8 rounds. Bogey avoidance will be important. I realize these were two easier courses, but with a price of only 8.6, I can make case ,he is better play than high end golfers, which have not played hardly any golf the past month. I will be overweight.
