I’m pleased with how the initial forecast went, and I’m getting a lot of requests for a weekend update (which I suppose is a good thing). Here’s the latest, again it’s not going to be easy to avoid peak winds…
Saturday – Mostly dry, windy.
AM – Might actually start out with a bit of light rain very early, but I expect most of that will be clear or clearing by the time things get going. Winds should get going pretty early, maybe a quick timeframe of 10-15mph in the very early morning, but quickly reaching 15-20mph (winds increasing quick enough that you can’t squeeze in quality golf “before it arrives”). Those healthy winds should hold steady through the late morning and in to the early afternoon.
PM – Still dry, but also still holding over those winds from the early morning. By the later afternoon and early evening we will see those winds start to subside a bit, probably down to 10mph sustained towards the end of the day.
Sunday – Wind and rain pick up late.
AM – Dry start with manageable winds early, holding around 10mph throughout the morning hours, maybe a few mph below that in the early AM and a few mph above that by the late morning. Rain chances will also start to pick up in the late morning.
PM – The later we go the more likely we are to see wind and rain. I expect fairly wet weather for the afternoon, with winds around 15mph sustained and stronger gusts.
Overall – The only real advantage on Saturday is late, and the later you go the better off you are. On Sunday it’s the earlier golfers who will get the better weather, while those in contention with the later tee-times will get the ugly stuff.
