Anyone nervous about Justin Rose closing the weekend with 77-75?

I know he has a win this year with the new Honma clubs, but it was pretty out of ordinary, some of the shots he was hitting…

For his price, he has to contend. I am a touch worried about his form and have a small wondering if he is still adjusting new a set of clubs and not having Fooch

My model had him on the do not play list based off his recent form (for scoring and bogey avoidance). I was kind of surprised.

Satellites Are Back Satellites Are Back

For those of you who participated in the forum last year you may remember that we had a few satellite contests amongst the forum members which won you entry into bigger prized pool contests with fewer participants. Thanks to the DK community team we are able to bring these back this year. The plan is to have these satellite contests for the majors so you can use in the following major. Our ability to continue to receive these satellite contests will hinge on our ability to fill them.

In order to compete you must be a member of the RotoGrinders Golf Forum League. If you would like to be added just ask. This will also give you access to play in the weekly Happy Meal contest along with the beat the forum H2H contests, both setup by Timusbr.

This week for the Players Championship we will be competing for tickets to be used for the Masters. The first satellite is for the $555 contest at the Masters. Last year this was a $444 contest with a prize pool of $750,000. I would imagine the prize pool this year to be around $1,000,000. The second satellite is for the $150 three max contest at the Masters. Last year the prize pool for this contest was $200,000. Both of these contests had less than 2,000 participants last year which is much better than competing against over 100,000 for a nice prize pool.

Entry fee for the $555 is $6 and pays a ticket for the winner. Entry fee for the $150 is $5 and pays a ticket to first and second place. While some will find the entry fee steep for a satellite and the majority will not win, in the end we will have forum members competing in contests that many can’t enter. In addition we will be able to root on some members in what could be a great sweat for some big money. Finally, if you don’t think you can win, you are wrong. The aforementioned Happy Meal contest has had a different winner each week (18 total) and has similar participant as these satellite contests.

    IMPORTANT
These contests are set up as multi entry. I would like to keep them single entry. If by 7pm EST Wednesday the satellites are not full then feel free to enter again.

Hopefully we can have some fun with this and we see the winners do well at the Masters increasing there bankroll or even hitting a big payday! Questions, fire away. Thanks
    Coop

is there looking like a tee time advantage at all – winds look to be from 10-20 mph all week

Yeah bogey avoidance is a key stat I’m looking at this week, he definitely hurt that number over the weekend.

Yeah, but with Rose being projected at less than 10% owned he can be a gpp winner. He also has decent course history here, so hopefully he figures it out. I’m going 25% with him.

Care to share any ownership projections on some chalky guys. I’m guessing most of the top salaries are going to be pretty spread out ownership but I’m curious as to who is projected highest in that 8k range and 7k range

  • Jeddy3

    I’m seeing: Casey(18%), Mats(17%), Xander(16%), Poulter(16%).

Highest owned top salary: Rory (15%)

But, I think you are right Dunzor. It is going to be spread out for sure.

  • Jsffc

Woodland and Leishman not gonna be chalk? Thought they were way underpriced

They will definitely be chalk but I think most ownerships will be spread out because there are so many options.. Like glover will be chalky too… I expect all three of them to be more than 15%

good work, The satties increase forum participation and the bumps (league commercials – I call it) are needed. I always worry about too many but I dont think “too many” applies to forums.

  • timgodd375

This is what I honestly think the ownership will be about like for the chalky/popular players:

    10k+

    DJ 10%
    Rory 20%
    JT 15%
    Tiger 15%
    Rose 13%

    8-9k:

    Bryson 10%
    Segio 22%
    Xander 18%
    Moli 18%
    Cantlay 13%
    Spieth 4%
    Hideki 28%
    Scott 17%
    Finau 11%

Edit: forgot fleetwood @ like 25%

    Under 8k

    Casey 25%
    Poulter 18%
    Rafa 23%
    Leishman 17%
    Woodland 17%
    Glover 15%
    Ben An 15%
    Fitz, wallace 9%
    Bubba 10%

Good article, use it to make my own at the bottom in comment section. Was going to pick Merritt, I knew he was out, but did not know he had a RIB removed ! Yikes… I wonder if it gives him a technical advantage in twist ? Tommy John surgery for the GOLFER.

Something up with results page via profiles? I don’t see any of my PGA from last week coming up

They don’t usually come over until late Tues or Wed then rankings don’t get updated for another couple days – within a week everything is there usually 5-6 days for full cycle of stuff to post/update

  • Dewoc19

There is not a single golfer here that I’m like “oh yeah, I have to play him” all of them seem to have MC potential or blow up potential, nobodies CH is immaculate here and that makes me nervous

Yup totally true – a few guys have consistent Course History but now you have the tournament being moved back to March and the grass/setup is all different so you can probably discount history a fair bit.

  • Quadhole

Derek – First look has ZERO mention of the course Grass… Nothing… Does mention winds in double digits.
Still think this plays out more like a MAJOR than ever with the class of the field and RF being dominate figures.
