I completely agree. We should’ve done mass testing and social distancing a while ago.

There is a shortage of tests, so doing mass testing is not possible.

  • Awon1

Apparently China reported only 8 new cases today (their cases spiked 2 months ago). This means it’s possible US could resolve this within 2 months from today and things are back to normal. I’ll take the over though. However the thing that could make it back to normal isn’t the new case count but rather the change in sentiment towards how lethal this disease truly is.

You can always say China is lying but I think they are actually probably not given Xi went to Wuhan himself. Doubt he would be that bold if it wasn’t actually getting better.

I got paid cash back for them – had 21 tickets and they put $420 for those in my account plus refunded all my other entries

For me, who was winning $0 at the end of today, the conversion of Milly tickets to cash was really great

Also, and I can’t emphasize this enough, the guy running the PGA Tour and the people at TPC Sawgrass are in the deepest of trouble. This is a full blown fiasco from the top to the bottom. As soon as this was called a pandemic they should have cancelled or at least have changed how they do handshakes, interactions, etc. Did they really think after the NBA cancelled their damned season they were really going to play 4 rounds of golf? Utter mismanagement and the sport had a huge black eye as a result. JMHO

  • Awon1

I really really hope Masters are on. NCAA tournament was my #1 thing to watch and Masters is #2. Both might be cancelled (one already is). Sad.

Olympics is #3. Not looking too hot either…

  • Awon1

I got my golf refunds. I really thought I had a nice sweat this week oh well. I know that’s the least of the worries but woulda been cool had I been top 100 in the MM last day. Never gotten top 25 ever in any MM including NFL.

  • SirJohnDaly

Shouldnt round 1 showdowns register as wins? I don’t want a refund I want a win

I am going on record … this will die down in 1 to 2 months … some areas as you mentioned are starting to get at or past the peak rate of new infections and I think we will get there without having to shut everything down except CVS and Walgreens. 2 to 3 weeks we get past our peak rate … a few more weeks start moving in the right direction. Sometime in April we will start getting announcements and I think events start going back on by end of April to first week or two of May. You heard it hear first. I once stayed at a Holiday Inn

I was just reading that. Sounds like part of it is because we weren’t one of the initial countries to get it, so those countries used a lot of the finite resources, but also in part because the CDC botched their first round of tests, wasting a lot of said resource.

  • Carpocarp

Refunded in full, and about 400 dollars in tickets converted to cash. I am assuming they did not intend to refund tickets as cash, Not DK dollars so withdrawing ASAP.

The main issue is that that Trump would rather use the money that could be used to quickly do tests and make them accessible everywhere like South Korea on like his border wall or military since that’s what got him elected. The Fed tonight is doing 1.5 trillion dollars in repo operations to stabilize the markets and while I’m totally ok with that as a 401k/stock account holder who’s bleeding, think about what you can do with 1.5 trillion in terms of creating testing kits and hospital beds.

China built 16 temporarily hospitals for this crisis. The US has another issue is that they might not have hospitals beds if there’s a ton of patients and if anyone thinks Trump is gonna actually pull out the money for him to build cool military airplanes that won’t ever be used for hospitals, they would be greatly mistaken.

I really do think this things blown way out of portion, but our government is not helping. The Democrats don’t care either since they want Trump to lose so they aren’t gonna help with him the 0 payroll tax which could help Americans financially suffering from this crisis.

  • Giez

I honestly think this has been in the US a couple months but most were sitting home, calling in, riding it out. I was really sick in JAN, sans a fever, but others had the fever… my wife had those symptons in JAN. It may seem we are just getting it, but I think we are > 50% thru this…

There were still holes to be played in Round 1 that would have made some kind of difference to the cash line and who got paid what.

Anti trump garbage read what I said. I criticized the Democrats too. Try reading what I said. I even said earlier this situation is clearly exaggerated by the media too, which would actually be supporting Trump. I’m being 100% objective when you clearly aren’t.

Do you just have Maga hat that deep up your arse or something to not realize Trump competely messed this situation up and he’s partly responsible or is he some god to you?

The funniest part about all this is I voted for Trump last time lol. I’m not voting for him or Joe this time since he’ll just fall asleep and both are completely incompenent to be president. Bloomberg was probably the only competent candidate but he can’t debate so he lost.

Just FYI since the US is going into a recession, Trump is done as president. Which kinda sucks in a way since he did make me a lot of money with my stocks up to 3 weeks ago, but it looks like Sleepy Joe gonna get some nap time 😴 at the White House.

  • eruthruff

They cancelled the tournament? That makes no sense. Send the crowds home if you want, but the players aren’t in much danger. There’s still the TV money. More importantly, I was winning money on DK.

Trump should have prepared for this and mandated automatic and free testing from the get go.

If only he had, say, formed a task force (https://www.wsj.com/articles/trump-announces-coronavirus-task-force-11580359187), issued a travel ban on the affected area (https://www.usnews.com/news/world-report/articles/2020-01-31/us-declares-coronavirus-outbreak-a-public-health-emergency-will-ban-foreigners-who-visited-china) and declared a national health emergency (https://abcnews.go.com/Health/delta-suspends-us-flights-china-amid-coronavirus/story?id=68666037) all within a matter of weeks from the virus having been discovered even though the authoritarian Chinese regime did everything in it’s power to cover it up. What was he thinking not to handle the situation like the Obama/Biden Administration did with the H1M1 virus when they refused to issue travel restrictions or declare a national emergency until three months later and only after 17,000 H1M1-related deaths occurred. Now that was true leadership, right?

“Automatic and free testing”? What “tests” are those? The tests that didn’t exist beforehand on account that COVID-19 is a novel virus and China wasn’t sharing any information with us? Which means, the medical field had to have a reported case here in the U.S. to know what type of testing was appropriate for the condition. And how exactly would testing have saved anything when testing only determines whether someone has the virus?

If you think Biden — that’s the same Biden who accused DJT of being a “xenophobe” when he issued the aforementioned travel restrictions — would have done any better you need to go look at his “Plan for Coronavirus Response” released just today. His #1 initiative in this “plan” … “stop the racism and xenophobia” associated with the virus (apparently because pointing out that it came from China is “racist” and “xenophobic”); because, that will sure put an end to the virus. In other words, just as in his case with H1M1, he would not issue travel restrictions that even the World Health Organization admits is absolutely necessary. How exactly would that have spared the mass cancellations and accommodated your DFS play?

And for what it’s worth, it was Trump’s Supreme Court Justice appointees that ultimately saved DFS for everyone including yourself by declaring sports gambling legal at a time when DEMOCRAT lawmakers like the disgraced woman-beater Eric Schneiderman, Lisa Madigan, Chuck Schumer and the highly liberal New York Times were doing everything in their power to end it. So, there’s that.

^Lol are you some kinda huge Trump supporter or something? I’ve actually never met one so that’s interesting. You think I like Sleepy Joe? The dude will fall asleep giving a speech he’s clearly unfit to be president too. And he can’t think for himself at all. The only guy I woulda voted for is Bloomberg, who’s like a more successful version of Trump.

I actually voted for Trump over Hillary last time since I liked the fact Trump would boost my 401k and stocks but now that US is going into recession, that’s no longer the case and so that’s probably why he’s now way less favored to beat Sleepy Joe.

Trump did handle this situation badly. He cut funding for the CDC to find his military and useless border wall. Then South Korea developed a ton of tests at once but he told the CDC not to do that since he thought it wouldn’t be a pandemic here in the US. And now he’s not being 100% honest since he doesn’t want to cause panic which I get (since the media is boosting the statistics), but it’s not working cause everyone is still panicking hence why we have no DFS and are talking about politics here.

It’s interesting meeting a full Trump supporter though like they are so passionate about defending him when I’m actually being pretty objective. I give Sleepy Joe and the Democrats just as much crap.

I actually just think everyone’s handling this terribly wrong and it’s led to us not having DFS which sucks but probably will lead to worse things like job losses and foreclosures and bankruptcies.

China did it wrong covering it up. Trumps response has been too slow and too indirect. No Democrats will help with the payroll tax since they don’t want to help Trump. The media is over reporting statistics and causing a ton of fear. The sports leagues are all cancelling out of fear and also peer pressure. All events and companies are being shut down or have to work at home and probably all just following each other out of peer pressure. No ones making this situation better imo and it has some black swan consequences. In fact we already saw a black swan in the stock market lately. Largest and fastest drop in history.

I’ll give you another potential black swan event. There’s a very high chance given how many cases there are that a senior official of our Government could get the virus and given a lot of them are old, this is a serious risk. I hope it doesn’t happen but the statistics point to it being likely now when 3 weeks ago it would have been a black swan event. Don’t believe me, the wife of Canada’s prime mininster just got it.

Not sure how you read what I said and concluded I’m JUST anti Trump unless you think he’s a god or something and can’t make a mistake.

I’m just giving the facts. Honestly the best way to handle this woulda been like what Elon Musk tweeted a few days ago and then specifically put in measures for high risk individuals. For example ban all senior people with preexisting conditions from traveling or cruise ships. If they still do so, that’s their own risk. Also if you wanna stop travel from a country, just stop it everywhere at the beginning, not go incrementally that doesn’t help.

I kinda want to get the cornavirus just to show everyone it’s not a big deal and the fear from this causes like way more problems than benefits. There will possibly be more suicides from loss of jobs, houses, financially, etc from these cancellations/economic impact than deaths of healthy individuals from cornavirus.

Thanks for a well thought out selfish version of what is happening. Its not about YOU getting the virus. Its stopping the spread. Its you showing the curtesy to others that you realize You pass it on it can effect them there family there grandparents. Where you will survive perhaps someone you know is put on a ventilator just to survive. The big deal is that the hospitals only have so many ventilators and this very contagious bug can hit an area like a tidalwave.

I wonder if this country has got it in them to show manners and curtesy to their friends neighbors co-workers and strangers?

Oh FYI – Sorry your got screwed in DFS.

^Lol are you some kinda huge Trump supporter or something?

Nope. I didn’t even vote as I did not like the choices and my integrity isn’t for sale — especially to a politician. But it’s ‘effing ridiculous to say that the man didn’t respond accordingly when there was nothing else the man could have done. It wasn’t he who forced uneducated, Chinese serfs to spend their life savings at Wuhan’s infamous “Wet Market” bidding on bats, skunks, dogs and Komodo dragons to eat. This has occurred because of Washington/Wall Street elites over-dependence on globalization and the Chinese economy, and open border policies that benefits wealthy oligarchs like Jeff Bezos — who is trying to keep working wages stagnate by flooding the work force — as well as Democrats who know immigrants from Third-World nations are more likely to vote for their Socialist policies. It’s all a scam and now average Americans pay the price because elites and the media think that everyone in the world has a right to come to the U.S. Well, guess what? When poor people from poor countries having never been vaccinated get to wonder into the country whenever they want, they are capable of bringing diseases with them.

The 2008 crash was much worse than this since no whole institutions like the banking industry have crashed yet. If they can just stabilize the economy for, like, a month then it will rebound nicely again if the virus wanes as it apparently has in China and South Korea. The underlying fundamentals of the economy are still holding which is indicative that it could snap right back if this damn virus can be contained soon. You should have put your stock in disinfectants and hand sanitizers and today you’d practically own the companies and wouldn’t have to worry about playing DFS any longer.

I don’t really see how we could’ve avoided a recession here. If we act like it’s not a problem, it just becomes a bigger problem. There was no way around it, we just have to do what we can to slow it’s spread and prevent death. That means businesses, and people will take a hit.
