I don’t even hate Trump that much but the thing that bugs me the most about him is he thinks he is always right. Like he thinks he literally can do no wrong. The economy and stock markets are falling and naturally it’s all the Feds fault. The CDC testing has been slow and it’s all Obama’s fault. His USFL failed and it’s all the other owners fault. I mean take some responsibility even if it’s not 100% your fault. Suck it up.

What’s really sad is most of the super staunch Trump supporters actually agree with him. Like yes the media is incredibly biased, but Trump also makes a lot of mistakes but his loyal supporters will only think it’s the media lying. His loyal supporters probably have no idea what the Fed even does but since the economy is tanking, it must be the Feds fault since he said so.

With the cornavirus situation, how about he stops blaming others and deflecting attention (his stupid last post on Twitter about strong borders – who the hell cares about that only he would say that since he’s trying to promote his campaign). The fact is the disease is here in the US with or without your border wall and now you just deal with the issue at hand.

Yeah Trumps posts on twitter are embarrassing.

Do I have any options if any if I was in first in the showdown $30k resurgence with no one close in sight of getting paid or am I shit out of luck? I understand the nba refund since an entire game was postponed but we had a handful of golfers that were on hole 18. Just about all of entries were decided I feel they should of honored based on places for the most part already set in stone.

  • Awon1

Here’s how I would have dealt with this situation. It’s one of two ways really.

    1. Literally treat this as the flu and go on with regular life, with perhaps restrictions only to elderly or patients with a immune system or respiratory condition.

    2. Do a full quarantine immediately locking all travel from every where including domestically. You can only go out for essential needs. This would be like in China. In 2 months, China almost has 0 new cases doing this and they should be able to resume in a month or so their economy so it’s a 3 month hit. Singapore and a few other countries are doing this too with similar results (if you don’t believe China).

Instead what’s happening is an in between method that the US is trying to do which is not a full quarantine but economic events are being shut down. This is a lose lose situation since the disease will still spread (just a bit slower but not significantly) and now the economy will get crippled for longer than 3 months with job losses, house losses, and stock market losses.

Like canceling all these sporting events is more than just about hurting the players. Vendors, travel, DFS employees/players, security at venues, people who change the floor, marketing, ticket websites, restaurants, hotel, athletic doctors and trainers, the hit is huge…..and it won’t really stop the spread as US should probably have 100k+ cases by later this year.

Trump wants to toe the middle since he doesn’t want to harm the economy with panic but he isn’t realizing this is actually worse for the economy…

Awon1, given your mention of who the heck cares about borders…
I’m not here for the politics, so I’ll digress quickly.

But if anyone wants insights into border issues, the costly financial abuses and strain that illegals place on the system, etc, you can PM me.

I’m (honestly) a wealth of info on the topic. Half my family is latino and I have a globally integrated job, and I support legal immigration one-million %, so you can see my heart is in the right place and is well-balanced, so my concerns are real, and I’m glad we have more discourse in the last few years, regardless of whether our president can put his foot in mouth sometimes.

  • eatmyturf23

The good news is, I can slow down on entering contests (edit: I’m forced to stop, lol) and do some more programming to update my personal DFS toolset! Go stats and analytics! Go sports! Go sports analytics! hahaha

Man, wished I would have spent down my 53k crowns before this. Those will be the first thing to go. I would think your cash is safe to keep on deposit no matter what happens with DK. That said, my $1 Dk cash daily reward was credited today; gonna be hard to remember to even snag those during this down time.

Spend your crowns and buy tickets – you can buy tickets for various denominations and have them sit in your My Tickets but I can’t see them stealing your crowns as first thing to go

The big question now … WILL NASCAR CAVE … I feel like Nascar is the best odds of not canceling but … damn I thought PGA would keep going at this time yesterday and would complete this tournament at least.

I can’t believe there is still a UFC fight tomorrow with people sweating and bleeding on each other. I’m glad there is for DFS but from a health perspective it’s crazy.

Maybe they are banking on the Olympics getting cancelled and they can play it in June.

Can’t play it there in June as all their perennial rye grass will be dead – only options are to play it in May (taking the PGA Championship spot – with the PGA moving to the fall) OR playing it in the fall on Bermuda once it comes in – that seems to be the leading option which will be cool to see; trees will look awesome in October but no flowers in bloom.

DK processed my withdrawal within 2 hours of requesting. Well done – but i hope they do not run into any liquidity issues with a mass exodus that might occur over the next 24-48 hours.

Player fund balances are supposed to be segregated from operating funds so shouldn’t be an issue

Players at The Players are getting to split $7.5 million half the purse for the tournament. $52,000 for one round not bad work if you can get it!!

I hope players give half to their caddies as they are not working for at least the next 4+ weeks

Does anybody have a .csv of the PGA Tiers 10k to 1st that was cancelled?. CSVs are not accessible on the dk website. Asking for a friend

If nobody has it – email the guy who runs CutSweats as they pull it to do their 6/6 5/6 calcs

He also said it would be hard to reschedule the Masters, and thinks it will not be played this year.

Jack is an old man and not smart

Firstly, The Masters can do whatever they want as they are not affiliated with the PGA Tour. If they wanted to, they could run it the same week as any other event. If given the choice as a player, am I going to the 3M Championship or Greenbrier ? Or am I playing The Masters ? Duh

The Masters will want to have a 2020 event but this “fluid” situation is an unknown and maybe we are all confined to our beds for the next 6 months or maybe this is all done in 4-6 weeks – the ultimate decision if/when they play Is just speculation

Wait you are like misunderstanding my point. The issue today is about cornavirus not illegal immigrants. This is what I would have said today.

“So far 40 people here in the US have died of the cornavirus. Thoughts and prayers go out to their family (Trump never mentions this). In order to assure as few deaths as possible, we have enacted several policies including tighter border restrictions (so I still mention it), more widespread testing, better healthcare coverage, extending the tax deadline, and backpay for hourly workers”. – see how that sounds?

Look at what Trump tweeted and how different it is. He is using the only 40 deaths to promote his border policy. That’s just flat out embarrassing. I mean every tweet he either needs to self promote himself or blame someone else. Even the one before about the Fed. When the economy and stock market is going well, Trump toots his horn. When it sucks, it’s the Feds fault.

Get the point? It’s not even about whether I believe in border policies or not. It’s about fighting this virus but he just wants to blame others or toot his horn.

Rules are pretty clear, round did not complete regardless if remaining play does/doesn’t impact payout.

Also, they have already refunded all the losers and small winners so where is the money coming from to pay you

It’s not a win-win situation for everyone where you get the best result regardless if you winning or losing….

To address a few things said within the last page or 2:

I heard on golf channel over lunch that the course, Augusta National, actually closes its doors from Mid may until October 1. So, the question is would they open up for the Masters and other events. That remains to be seen. But the announcers seem to think that if they hold the Masters it won’t be until October unless the PGA works out a deal to push a minor event to the fall from the late spring/ early summer tournaments and allow Augusta in, and only then would Augusta consider opening for the Masters and the events surrounding it.

Regarding NASCAR. I understand why they postponed the events, but not the decision I would have made. The Virus has been proven to hate warm moving air, and to me NASCAR is the least likely place that you would catch the Virus. I am glad that they are only doing 2 weeks worth of events and it looks like Texas in 3 weeks is taking a stand at this point and not going to postpone/cancel unless the situation gets insanely worse or are forced to by NASCAR based on the statement sent out by the track President. As of right now, it seems that the 2 weekends they had scheduled off in the summer are prime candidates to get the dates even though it would suck racing in Atlanta and Miami in mid summer. They may push both races to the nighttime.

Regarding the politics of the matter, regardless if you like or hate Trump, its best to educate yourself on what is fact vs media hype. As it stands right now, you have less than a .03% chance of dying from the virus, the virus has killed less people than the flu and all other cold types this year, and the virus hates warm moving air and that is based on what I have heard from trustworthy sites and sources.

MORE widespread testing? How about ANY testing. You realize there were some days last week where ZERO people were tested in this country. ZERO. That is what the problem is here in the fact he DECLINED World Health Organization test kits, then we bungled the release of kits here the first go around. It’s just a complete bungled mess. It seems at this point he’s concerned about everything BUT getting people tested. He even said he “likes the numbers low”. Straight from the autocratic ruler handbook. It’s all about saving himself at this point. I know you probably find that hard to believe, but that is exactly how mentally ill he is.

Well I hate to be the bearer of more bad news, but I have had to cancel the RG Golf Forum live final scheduled for October of this year.

I haven’t told anyone yet, because the plans for this were still coming together. Basically, all of our regulars here we going to be invited, at no cost to them, to Nashville to compete in a live final with a 25 million 1st place prize. There would be another 75 million that would fund the rest of the prize pool, all the way down to 1 million for last place. Accommodations included luxury penthouses, with enough high-priced escorts and strippers that allowed at least 3 per contestant. Door prizes also included Super Yachts, brand new Teslas, Lambos and Aston Martins, as well as new PXG or Homna irons for each. There was even a private dinner scheduled with Trump and Awon1. I’m sorry, but due to the COVID-19 concerns, I will not be pursuing this again until 2057.

Hey man don’t tell me that. Tell all the people yesterday (posts like 3-4 pages ago) who were hating on me for being “Anti-Trump”, when I was just telling objective facts. I’m not even that anti-Trump as I just want the issue solved and I think he’s done a terrible job at handling it (although others here thinks he’s done a perfect job with no faults and call me out for being anti Trump for some reason when I’m just telling objective facts).

  • Awon1

I love watching sports. As I said Masters and NCAA tournament were my two favorite events and both are gone now. Olympics might be gone too. Who knows if NBA will resume. All public schools might even be shut down (huge problem for low income families). This is a mess.

But I think we should work together on solving the issue. The problem with Trump is that he think he’s a genius and can’t do anything wrong so no one can even work with him. I actually think he’s smarter than most politicians (definitely more so than Biden) but the issue is he literally thinks he’s the smartest person in the world and when you have a crisis at hand (even if the media does report biased statistics), the smartest person would listen to everyone not have to brag every 2 hours on Twitter how great his policies are.

I’ve actually met Ivanka Trump before. She’s actually really smart and I actually think she would make a really good president (better than her dad or Joe Biden). Like she’s way more qualified imo than her two brothers who clearly only got to where they are because of their dad.

Also about the prize pool, if I were rich like say a Rory Mcilroy, I would give some to my caddie and donate all the rest to the vendors and hourly workers of the PGA tour who now will not get paid. I hope all the players start a fund like this with the money they made from the event, especially the ones who don’t need 50k.
