How many are in the field?

I am pretty sure you can count on 156 to tee off.

Players looks like such a crapshoot. This looks like there will be a ton of variance. Some guys just randomly pop here.

One thing I know for certain is playing chalk CH horse Adam Scott is a horrible idea. I’ll be full fading that guy.

Majors/TPC are always such a PITA. Half of the no-brainer studs will MC or just suck throughout the weekend, while a bunch of longshots contend for top 15s. I’ve learned to scale back my expectations, even though they’re fun events with more prize money. I’ll be playing about the same amount, or a little less than I have been the last couple weeks, plus a $20 lotto ticket.

First look at weather from Wind finder. Jacksonville Beach station is just north of the course.

no rain forecasted, little wind, little to no gusting, always coming from the ocean. No weather/time issues, IMHO

No wind huh… is it finally Varner time?!?

Ah no. The worst part about last year was that I had VIP tickets for Friday.

Are you going this week? I’ve been the last 3 years (before the COVID one which I was also supposed to go to), but I didn’t get tickets this year. Got an email saying past purchasers would get notified to buy limited tickets and then never saw anything else.

If you’re going at all, or have anyone in the area who can report on ticket conditions on the ground, I’d be interested to know if it’s pretty easy to run down there and grab tickets from someone scalping. I might get a wild hair and drive down there on Saturday or Sunday if I have any good LUs in the running. Thanks.

When analyzing putting performance, bear in mind the course will be playing from winter rye fairways and rough, and bentgrass/poa mixed greens rather than the typical Florida Bermuda grass which is dormant right now.

Also when looking at course history, remember that many recent Players have been played in May until 2007-2018 and we are now back to the traditional March dates

Only 2019 in recent years has it been played in March – the course played differently in May than it does in March

Field will be 154 – don’t ask me why; it used to be smaller (144 I think) but it has been expanded to 154 for this year.

The field has been expanded from 144 to 154 to accommodate those who finished in the top 125 of last season’s FedExCup standings

I think this is funny. why not a full field event? 154
They have issues every year on not finishing rd 1 and 2 each year because of darkness?

If they expanded the field this year, then I’m guessing they could have started round one earlier last year (to make sure everyone finished) which annoys the crap out of me.

Can’t you just click the resize contest button, so that it runs no matter how many get in? That is what I do with contests I make, but maybe something is different

I think that’s only for 20 or less entries.

Fleetwood looking pretty tempting at $7900, but I guess could also mean chalky.

Is Keegs going to keep some decency (recency) bias?

I have never been a fan. I should be. If memory serves BiF was always a fan, strong golf pedigree? He certainly achieved recently. He will be in my FRL bets.

Agree. Random golfers seem to do well here every year.

Wow, cashed with a zero burger….haven’t played FD golf in a while maybe I need to dabble again this week. Just checked their contest selection for the Players….and it’s not even up yet lol. FD is fun because you can generally pick exactly who you want with the soft pricing. But also means ya better not miss or get a WD like oosty. How tf did you cash? You have the top 5 as your other golfers?

    I had:
    Hatton
    Oosthuizen
    Conners
    Z. Johnson
    Casey
    Griffin
Scored 360.5 with a zero from Louis.

Cashed in a few single entries and a bigger tourney. Didn’t get above the threshold by much tho lol.

EDIT: Conners was lower owned which helped and no one missed the cut other than oosty

I have Fortune Cookie LU ready to go and it looks alright. I cashed one $10.00 double up with my 4/6. Really expected a lot more from my random Reed & Molinari picks on those easy scoring first 2 days. Ghim & Keegs had a couple good days.

Nope – not a big Keegan fan overall unless you count this past week where I had a ton of him.

Nope. My wife’s bank was always good for sweet tickets, but not this year. I heard the public tickets sold out in less than an hour. I even tried texting a friend who lives near Rusty Knox and he replied with a laughing emoji. I told him he was no longer a friend. Crickets.
I think scalper prices will be thru the roof and few and far between. Stay home.

I like him too. So many good golfers in this field, I don’t think anyone will be obvious chalk at any price point.

I vote Steele, Varner and Poston for cheap plays!
