The PLAYERS Championship – TPC Sawgrass

2015 Winning Score -12 Rickie Fowler in a 3-man playoff
To make the 36 hole cut you needed to be Even Par

2014 winning score -13 Cut was Even Par to play the weekend
2013 winning score -13 Cut was Even Par
2012 winning score -13 Cut was Even Par
2011 winning score -13 Cut was Even Par
No that was not a typo…..same winning score 2011-2014 and same cut line the last 5 years !

This tournament marks the return of Jordan Spieth – first tourney since his Masters debacle and the #SB2K16 vacation.

This tourney also annually features one of the strongest fields of the year.

Only 144 players this week and the usual 70 & ties make the cut. With a smaller field, the 6/6% has the chance to be higher than past weeks (based solely on the fact that a higher percentage of field is making the cut).

Last year (2015) there were some big (very BIG) names that missed the cut and that is normal here because just about every hole can be birdied or double bogied. If it’s it anything like last year, there will be carnage that will put us DFS’ers on tilt early.

    2015 Key Missed Cuts
    Daniel Berger CUT 71 74 145
    Brooks Koepka CUT 78 67 145
    Jason Kokrak CUT 69 76 145
    Matt Kuchar CUT 73 72 145
    Ryan Moore CUT 73 72 145
    Justin Rose CUT 71 74 145
    Jason Dufner CUT 73 73 146
    Harris English CUT 75 71 146
    Danny Lee CUT 73 73 146
    Lee Westwood CUT 76 70 146
    Danny Willett CUT 72 74 146
    Brandt Snedeker CUT 69 78 147
    Jordan Spieth CUT 75 72 147
    Phil Mickelson CUT 73 76 149
    Ryan Palmer CUT 77 72 149
    Jason Day CUT 69 81 150
    Luke Donald CUT 77 76 153
    Gary Woodland CUT 79 74 153
    Aaron Baddeley CUT 78 77 155

Pretty sure it’s a troll job. Can’t find anything for Matt Kuchar and “sick” or “ill”

I have no reason to make up anything.

  • Dewoc19

so have we concluded that Kuch is in fact sick, or is this a load of bullshit.

switched out a bunch of Grillo for Bello and was feeling good about it til I saw an articl3 on Twitter showing he has never made the cut on a Pete Dye course albeit in only 2 attempts, now I’m second guessing as I have about 45% exposure to Bello, felt his stats were comparable or slightly better in the categories I was using for this week

Well this is fantastic. Now I’m going to have edit my Kuchar lineups, no way I’m risking a withdrawal or a very sick golfer.

  • jdelsas

ugh, I was only about 10% on him but looks like I’m going to take him down too…watch him have a Jordan-esque tournament though and place top 10 now ha.

  • JimKronlund

I’m not concerned. There would be a lot more chatter if it was serious. Maybe he was sick of playing table tennis.
Just my choice in large GPP

  • JimKronlund

I put some feelers out, but my twitter has zero on this

  • 4Champion

    And this:
@DKDFStrength backed on ping pong with bortles due to illness. Never saw him on the course 2day. Take it as you will

    Smells fishy

  • Dewoc19

smells fishy to me too but i still feel the need to scale back now or fade completely, just cant risk it

  • jeffgo33

This would be one hell of a troll if its not true.

  • Dewoc19

yeah it would, looks like Horschel just got a substantial increase in ownership

  • JimKronlund

Anything we say here does not have enough eyes to make any kind of a dent in overall ownership.

oh i didnt mean in general, i meant for me personally

  • Dewoc19

well fuck it, left a few lineups with Kuchar in, if he is sick and doesnt play then so be it, at least i changed out most of the other lineups, if he isnt sick well then 4Champion can eat a bag of dicks and im gonna find you and beat your ass

I’m already seeing it being discussed on Twitter. It’s not just us.

  • DAR207

Well I have a Lineup im not comfortable with in the $400 Pressure Putt, but I dont think thats a bad thing. When I like my lineup, I usally dont do well.

    heres what I went with

    Justin Rose 10300
    Adam Scott 10000
    Patrick Reed 8700
    Branden Grace 8600
    Scott Piercy 6300
    Robert Streb 6100

I hate the word “sick” with no other info
Is it an upset stomach or an allergy ?
Or is it the start of the flu or food poisoning and he is at hospital ?

Saw one guy say he didn’t see Kooch at the course today but there are 144 guys so was he really not there ? Who knows ?

Also, the old saying “beware the sick golfer” applies as many guys have won when under the weather or battling something – I just wish i knew what it was !

Ya who knows. For all we know he said he was too sick jokingly to get out of playing ping pong. Up to everyone to decide what their risk tolerance is. I’m gonna let mine ride – don’t have an insane amount of him.

I pulled him off everything worth $3 or more
Kept him in everything under $3 which is only a couple lineups

Pivoted mostly to Horschel and a couple to Sneds and Kirk

I think you have to switch
If Kooch plays, you still have a good golfer in his place
If Kooch WD’s, you have a good golfer PLUS 15+% of entries are dead

Way more upside to swap and who says Zach, Billy Ho, Sneds or whoever you pivot to doesn’t beat Kooch anyways if he plays

Going to bed…..no matter what happens, I can sleep well….tonight anyways LOL

  • jeffgo33

Yeah, I actually decided Kirk and Horschel over Kuchar in those spots I asked BIF about earlier. Even with the (probably small) ownership fluctuation because of this report, I think those two will still be less-owned than Kuchar for GPP purposes. Ownership might not move that much since word of this seems to have emerged pretty late on the East Coast/Midwest

  • BIF

Koch has an afternoon tee time so more time to feel better but also more time to pull out well after DK locks – good luck to all regardless !

  • polarns

Pivot to Furyk…you’ll thank me later

Why the hell would you post your lineup on this forum before the contest locks in?
i’ve seen you mention about 5 times this week you’re in the $400 contest, but you’re doing it wrong if you think posting your your entire lineup is wise. Just paypal me the 400 instead, I could use it!
