There’s a lot of interesting games tonight and a few snoozers (buffalo @ carolina)

My early DK 50/50s lineup (note: this lineup will change, it always does)

Let me know what you think…

    C Jeff Carter Edm@LA 3.8 $5,800 swap out
    C Ryan Johansen Dal@Cls 3.7 $5,900 swap out
    W Jaromir Jagr NJ@TB 3.4 $4,900 swap out
    W Patrick Marleau SJ@Was 4.1 $6,100 swap out
    W Wayne Simmonds Anh@Phi 3.3 $6,100 swap out
    D Johnny Boychuk NYI@NYR 2.6 $3,600 swap out
    D Sami Vatanen Anh@Phi 2.1 $3,600 swap out
    G Antti Niemi SJ@Was 4.4 $7,700 swap out
    UTILAnze Kopitar Edm@LA 3.5 $6,200 swap out

Jagr at TB seems bad, so does Niemi at WAS (although if he has a good game it could pay off in a GPP since not a ton of other people will playing him)

And Wayne Simmonds is one of if not the most overrated hockey player on the planet

I think WAS as a team is highly over rated and this SJ team has looked pretty damn good thus far. Can’t see San Jose losing this game even though it’s on the road.

Maybe, but for our purposes who cares? He’s off to a good start (4+1) on a team that is certainly going to score goals, the problem for Philly is they are gonna give them up on a loftier pace.

not sure taking a goalie on the road with a pickem line is the best idea for a cash game.

Numberfire is all over SJ tomorrow.

While there are many ‘fantasy info ‘ sites out there, i would never project D man Brent Burns #7 , to have more points than #46 Jeff Carter, let alone have 3 Edmonton guys ahead of Carter as well. They even have Anders Lee ahead of guys like Nash, Hemsky, Tlusty and a bunch of others. Unless AHL stats count, i am pretty sure that will never happen tonight.,But, like I have said in the past, there are many ways to win and go with whatever works for you, not what anyone else ‘says’.

  • jewombat

I agree. This is my first year playing NHL, and I have no idea how to analyze and project players yet. Going to have to take peoples’ words for it until I can spreadsheet my own.

The first goalie I picked out before even looking at pricing was Rinne. Then I looked at his price on fanduel. Of the 18 starting goalies tonight he is currently the 20th most expensive.

  • jokah03

I’m liking Rinne in all my cash games on both sites. For my FD I have Gibson as he’s really low priced. For DK GPP I can roll Gibson or Reimer..who do you guys like better?

For cash I’m liking torontos top line, stammer with Callahan, St. Louis/Kreider, couture/marleau.

For my under the radar GPP plays I like LAs top line on DK and Isles top line on FD paired up with superstars (stammer/ovie).

So my question..Reimer at home or Gibson on the road?

Gibson looked terrible in his first game, and ANH are playing 2nd of back to back games. Reimer might be a better option for GPP with TOR giving up tons of shots, and COL still struggling in the offensive zone.

I always prefer a goalie at home in cash games. Not to say I’ll never pick a road goalie (in Buffalo for example) but all else equal, give me the guy at home.

Thoughts on using Enroth vs. a depleted Canes team? Or maybe target the newer Canes getting a chance to jump into the top 6?

I had to double check on Fanduel. I couldn’t believe how cheap he was.

For the year Buffalo has given up 40/47/44 shots and 3/6/5 goals. Buffalo managed 12 shots against Anaheim. 12 SHOTS!!!!! This is a very bad team that gives up a ton of time in their own zone and they no longer have Miller to bail them out and keep the game competitive.

Now Carolina has no where near the talent but factor in a road game on the back end of a b2b and I think it puts the canes right in play.

Who are good people to follow on twitter for NHL updates.

  • sabresrock29

stack the hurricanes. Read my username then feel sorry for me because I have to watch this team all year

  • jokah03

The good thing about the canes is how cheap they are. Nash/rask are the two top line centers and both are minimum salary on DK. The bad thing is I think scoring/toi will be spread out between all the lines. I think semin will have a field day with SOGs though.

If Gibson doesn’t get the start (Anderson was on the ice first) I have to redo my whole GPP lineup on FD which sucks. I was digging having ovechkin, Stamkos and Tavares all together.

  • jokah03

Just saw eberle, rnh and Gaborik are all out tonight. It looks like Quick might be the biggest slam dunk goalie tonight.

  • wdobbs

What is your pick, Ranger Lundquivst or Bolts Bishop. Bishop isn’t doing bad but NJ has 5G/game. Islanders have a lot too, but that’s the only option I can use for tonight.

  • holmfries

I think the discussion on analytics in the other thread is hilarious. Of course they matter. Someone astutely pointed out that despite hockey being high variance, it still makes sense to look for guys with a high likelihood to score.

Don’t think of it like looking for a needle in a haystack. Think of it like looking for needle rich haystacks.

Bishop is out for Nabokov so I guess that narrows it down.
