Get the easy stuff out the way, fade Spieth, McIlroy, DJ

Each week I look at head-to-head matchups on the same course, same day against only the players in this week’s field. This week there are 98k individual matchups within the last 13 weeks. The prior tournaments with the most data (highest field similarity) are The Players [16k] and The Masters [12k].

Even at the same salary if you offered me

Rahm or DJ – I’d take Rahm
Rose or Spieth – I’d take Rose
Woods or McIlroy – I’d take Woods

Obviously if you are max entering you’re probably going to have a bit of them but I’m probably doing about 40-50 line ups and don’t see any need to pay up for them.

I’d suggest there’s an argument that Rose is the most likely player in the field to get a Top 5 finish although admittedly he hasn’t really been popping in the key stats.

I don’t hate your approach other than the Tiger bit. I don’t see him contending in the slightest.

And this is the beauty of dfs golf, I’m a DJ guy. I go to the well often. You favor Rahm there. Fantastic. Makes this so much fun when you have guys tossing some $ down and making a stand. Good luck to you man

So many great golfers that dont make it into this tournament, yet we get :

Cameron Wilson, Calum Hill, Mike Miller, a-Will Grimmer, Dylan Meyer, David Gazzolo, a-Timothy Wiseman, a-Luis Gagne, a-Tyler Strafaci, a-Cole Miller, a-Mickey DeMorat, a-Ryan Lumsden, Chris Naegel, Garrett Rank, Michael Hebert, Sebastia Vazquez, a-Rhett Rasmussen, a-Franklin Huang, Christopher Babcock, a-Sulman Raza, Michael Block.

Makes me think about the TOP Web.com tour guys, or guy s that have shot a 2,3, 4th this year but not a win, Mitchell, Hossler and many more that are way better than this group. Yea, I know, there are qualifiers, I guess the move is to MC at Memorial or not enter, then head where everyone else isnt and hope you compete that one time, one day.

Dylan Meyer is a good player, just graduated from Illinois, will end up on web.com tour and perhaps play in some pga tourneys in the next year. Don’t forget his name.

I couldnt help myself and had to start looking at pricing and stats to avoid tweaking any more for this week. So many ways to go this week and so many guys under 8k that grade out well. Simpson and Poulter caught my eye along as some cheaper options along with Noren (although his CH is atrocious)

Nobody has any type of real CH here except maybe Phil Mickelson, who actually might have won this tournament here twice if it weren’t for two errant shots.

Fleetwood is winning this with jason day right on his heels. Im rolling with one lineup not gonna over think it.

You can make some ridiculous lineups if you don’t use any 10k+ guys.

If you look at past winning lineup constructions for US Opens though, you’ll see that they all included 2 10k+ guys and 2 guys under 7k…. last year there were 2 under 6500 (Xander and Mullinax).

    So many ways to go.

I can’t be the only one noticing Dean Burmester’s price on DK right?

that one really jumped out as did stricker at $6900

Let’s talk ownership for the US Open, below is Ly numbers…..
4 players above 20% with two making the cut
The two that made the cut finished 23rd and 58th

17 players above 9.50% to 19.49% and 7 made the cut
Of the 21 over 10% two made the T10 finishing 5th and 9th
    The other five finished 16th, 21st, 26th, 35th and 35th

Minus the two above who finished in T10, ownership for the remaining players who finished in T10 was: 9% for two players, 6% for one player, 2% for four players and less than 1% for two players.

    Last year 6/6 was 1%
    Year before 6/6 was 6%

Any thoughts about Hadley at $7.0K? I feel like my lineup will be duplicated way too many times!

Also, there’s something I don’t understand in DK’s pricing algorithm. How can DJ be priced exactly the same for FedEx St. Jude Classic and for US Open?

  • flip4flop

So to avoid dupes, would leaving more salary on the table optimal here since there are some solid lower priced guys and hoping you can dodge the 10k+ guys who miss?

  • BlueEdwards

I’m through worrying about dupes. I’m putting my guys out there and maximizing each lineup. If someone else has the same one, we split the $1 million

Yep. It’s not like Showdown NBA, where you see 80 people trains win it. I just feel that my 3 confident picks (Rose, Rahm and Casey) will have super high ownership.
