So close man! Still a good finish for you. Two in the top 10 is impressive. At least that gives a little cushion to go after some more. Congrats!

Thanks man. It came down to the wire.

As Brian mentioned above, finished 2nd and 9th in the minimax, a Niemann bogey at 18 would have given me the win.

In all it was an amazing week for me. 2nd in the minimax, 2nd in the Happy Meal. Ran a 20 team train in a satty that cashed. Picked up 40+ Milly tickets for the week.

Can’t complain about not winning the minimax, congrats to the other winners this week

Hell of a week. I had a chance to have a special bunch but between Glover + Sungjae yesterday and 7 birdies combined across my 5 golfers today, we only got a few $20 tickets. To NC we go.

Nice work! Way to pepper the leaderboard. Put those tickets to good use.

    C’mon Burnsy – I’m hoping in 3.5 hours we can say….

He did it! I remember you touted Burns years ago when no one knew who he was and he ended up in the featured Weekend pairing with Tiger. Been a fan ever since.

Had him in my top lineup – 13th in the $55 – glad he finally put four rounds together!

By now I would expect the players at the top of the leaderboard to be solid green for GIR. Not so….As a matter of curiosity, I find no consistancy or predictability of a stat for this event this week. I am perplexed because normally with a quick look on Monday it hits me between the eyes everytime.

some events are distance some are accuracy some are GIR, All are putting. the best putters this week depending on the day are all Green and most at the top of the leaderboard. As for the other stats used lots of white and pink….Pink GIR at the top of the leaderboard….never on a stat I thought was the determination of doing well.

I am not questioning the top players who headed the stat before the event (although I used a lot of them a lot) I am saying that the leaderboard should be by the players leading that in event stat catagory….they are not.

Good discussion, Tim. My only question for the Monday morning QB approach is….when you see the stat leaders of whatever category you want to look at after the tournament ends, and could now go back in time to when you were building your lineups before the tournament started, how would you have identified those guys in those pre-tournament stats, if the two lists have no correlation to each other? What will you do with that information for next year?

That is basically my point. I don’t know how often the two lists are related or not; never looked at it. I just think that if I’m going to predict guys for the Wells Fargo, and all I know right now is who they are up to this point in time, then I need to compare that to who other golfers were before the same tournament in all of the past years years, rather than comparing them to actual Wells Fargo tournament stats from past years.

I didn’t have enough Burns (well actually I had plenty enough if Reed and Grillo didn’t fold and MC).

50% loss this week despite a couple good Burns 6/6s and one with Burns/Keegan.

Only added 2 tickets to the stash this week but at least I didn’t waste my $555 ticket this week and will save for PGA Championship

    Great Job… Congrats.

I refrained from stating on this forum Good Luck.
Whenever we are past Thursday and I say Good Luck, I feel I am giving a jinx. So no Good Luck to contests hopefuls from now on :)

    @BianVT

I guess I use the stats I identify before I handicap as a starting point. box checked
then when I actually select a player to roster I hope to use him because of several reasons and let the “art” of DFS lead the data science of DFS.

apologies, I keep rereading my posts on this and it sounds like rambling. I dont think I am explaining myself well at all. and hours later….not as interesting :) but it still stands that history says GIR was a telling stat for Valspar, and the winner was closer to the bottom of that stat then the top. perplexing to me and generally not the case in my weekly reviews.

Ha, I had the same thoughts about my posts, too. I was mainly trying to address your initial post, something like “surprised we don’t see XYZ stat as important in the tournament if we thought it was important before the tournament.” I would validate what you thought before tournament by seeing if those guys are actually doing well on the leaderboard, and not worry about whether they’re doing well in that stat. That’s all.

Some stats should have overlap from course to course, like Approach from 100 yards or something like that. So, you might expect a season-long stat leader to lead that again this week. But GIR%, SGT2G, etc., are going to change from course to course because of the different style of courses and greens, weather, etc. So, if we liked the SGT2G or GIR% guys before a tournament starts because those guys do well at this course (finishing position; not the stat), then I just want to know if those guys actually ended up playing well in the tournament in general, not leading the stat. And that addresses your initial post that we then continued to ramble about ;)

    Sorry for the boring conversation….

Anybody who bet on Gooch might be able to get a refund from him personally…

I wish FatRick was doing this, but he’d probably just hack your Venmo and steal your money.
