“A stranger is being shown around a village that he has just become part of. He is shown a well and his guide says “on any day except Tuesday, you can shout any question down that well and you’ll be told the answer.” The man seems pretty impressed, and so he shouts down, “Why not on Tuesday?” A voice from in the well shouts back, “Because on Tuesday, it’s your day in the well.”

What’s up everybody! I’m here to answer your questions about DFS, life, and how to be a troll on twitter (@draftcheat).

I’m 29 (yikes!), and have been playing DFS full time for over a year now. I quit my job working in marketing a bit over a year ago, and am loving life as a DFS pro. Reading about and watching sports, and most of all digging as deep into sports stats and analytics as I can is a dream come true. I’ve been obsessed with sports my entire life. I played soccer, baseball, and kicked for the football team (insert kicker joke here) in high school, and played college soccer as well. Now, instead of playing myself, I watch others play. It’s a decent trade-off.

I come from a poker background which I did professionally in college and for five years afterword until Black Friday (some of you might recognize the screen name McShove, I suppose), then had to work a real job for a couple of years before finding DFS.

I’ll try to answer anything and everything thrown my way, though you’ll have to excuse me if I can’t get to your question before lineups lock on any given day. I got grindin’ to do.

In before, “when are you eating the hat?”

    Fire away.

If this doesn’t happen, I am personally holding you responsible, Cam.

Also, I’ve got the line currently set at Pepsi -150 to win this in knockout

This isn’t MLB, and I’m not Pete Rose. Nobody can ban me from DFS. If this fight goes down I’m betting on myself, and I’d like to reserve action at that line!

Would you say there is ever a time to play the starting side of a platoon (say Bour/Baker or Ruggiano/S. Smith) knowing they could likely lose an AB to the other in the later innings? Or is that a stay-away at all costs? Would it change it at all if, say, Bour was surrounded by RHB in the line-up, making it slightly more likely they don’t put in a LHP just to face him? Thanks.

I play platoon players all the time. If the matchup is good enough and the price is right, sometimes you just have to live with the chance they may be removed later in the game.

Absolutely pay attention to who a platoon player is surrounded by, and also look at who is available out of the other team’s bullpen. Some teams have 3 lefties, others have only 1. And sometimes, that pitcher is unavailable after pitching each of the last 2 games.

DC would employ some old school wrestling tactics, distract the ref with some drunken antics while someone in a mask sneaks out from under the ring to the dismay of the crowd and hits Pepsi with a steel chair.

Also, in all seriousness, awesome you took the time to do this DC and still had time to be in top twitter-trolling form today.

    Here’s a question for DC,

    Arsenal, WTF?

  • commandercoo1

Here’s a question that applies to my life, and probably many others:

Prior to switching to DFS fulltime and when you were working, how did you balance your DFS play with your work? Were you able to dedicate a few hours per day at work for research, or did you do all your research the night before and just check lineups at work and make a couple last second tweaks if necessary? Did you binge on the weekends?

Thanks again, I think a Q&A like this is more valuable in the long run than even one of your lineups!

A cheap, potentially low owned guy today who could have a big game would be Colby Lewis.

    Stahp it.

Ok, why did you like Colby Lewis to hit his ceiling on Wed night?

    Here’s a question for DC,

    Arsenal, WTF?

One of my best friends got married to a fine lady from Austria, and I was there for the wedding. In her little town of 30,000, Arsenal were playing the local team on one of their promotional summer tours. I got to watch the game from the first row, and they’ve been my team ever since.

Aren’t you a Chelsea fan? That’s far worse than rooting for the Yankees.

I did a lot of research the night before, researched during lunch, and my hours would typically finish an hour before lineup lock, and I would just stay at work and get to work on my lineups at that time. A lot of what I did was solo computer work and I was able to listen to Grinders Live shows during the afternoon for some information. And yeah, I snuck in a little research from time to time while at work :)

The Astros have a lot of speed and power, which make them a very stackable team every night, but they also lead the league in strikeouts vs. RHP. Colby Lewis gets a bad rap, but he’s really not all that bad, and certainly capable of turning in big performances from time to time.

ok, first, thats a cool story.

second, the yankees = manchester united. not even close.

I was a chelsea fan in 1996 when (not unlike your little Arsenal story), they took a tour around the world and landed in Egypt (where I was living at the time) and were playing my favorite team there. I got to watch Zola score a hat-trick from waaaay up high in the 75K+ person stadium that was packed full and thirteen year old me loved every second of it. I’ve been a Chelsea fan ever since. Waaay before they were winners or bought players. I’ve EARNED these last few seasons.
