I’m far from a pro at MME (hell, I’m not even good), but my process is to own every player I have at least 20% across 20 lineups. This way I have a few outs if the player hits. Owning 5% of anyone seems to be cutting yourself off at the legs to me.

Could this be a Bubba course? If memory serves me, he seems to play well when he has no history at a course.

Do you mean the opposite? He dominates on courses he has elite course history on (Masters, Genesis, Travelers).

Like out of his 12 PGA wins, 3 are at the Travelers, 3 are at Genesis (used to be called Northern Trust for the first 2 times he won, very confusing), and 2 are at the Masters. That’s 8 wins from 3 courses.

Although this course has such an interesting combo of short and long holes Bubba could be viable, ignoring all course history metrics.

I think he was definitely overpriced last week. I think he’s still a little overpriced this week. The field is definitely stronger.

Yea I think he has been a bit overpriced, so that’s why I think he’s now kinda cheap enough to be considered for me. The guys below him are Finau (who is chalk), Morikawa who’s been so-so lately, but after that it’s a sharp dropoff.

No, I was serious. It’s that narrative that always keeps people away from Bubba except for the three you mention where he dominates. But, I think he has pulled out surprises in the past couple years at courses that were new to him, and he had very low ownership. I’ll see if I can dig-up what I’m talking about; but I just remember he surprised people a couple times because of the “only play Bubba at the three Bubba courses” rule-of-thumb.

Edit: I can’t seem to find what I’m looking for since there’s no good data for me to just click on a particular course and see all of the history, and most things just tell you the winner and runner up. I’m looking more for the top 10 value for DFS purposes. Anyhow, it’s basically three choices with him:

1 – The courses we know he plays well at
2 – The courses we know he sucks at
3 – The course he plays for fist time – I think he had a couple nice finishes at these when people were only thinking about 1 and 2. Probably worth a sprinkle at $6800

Personally, I am on Glover. Palmer will probably be pretty high owned, and HV3 I normally just take in showdown.

For some reason I’m on Jazz Janabananana this week again… I feel like I’m setting myself up to be disappointed like last week.

    Maybe…

“Watson, 40, holds 12 PGA TOUR titles including two Masters Tournament victories in 2012 and 2014. With a win in China previously, the American star is hoping to add another title on foreign soil to his impressive resume.

He said: “It’s always fun when players have the opportunity to visit new places and play in new tournaments. I’m really looking forward to the ZOZO CHAMPIONSHIP this October. I’ve always loved playing in Japan and I hope I can add the ZOZO Championship trophy to my collection. What an honor it would be to become the inaugural ZOZO Champion.”

I had him last week too. Idk how he’s going to do this week, since I’m playing him, but I know if I don’t take him he’ll do well and I’ll be salty lol.

Happy Meal full again…. tired of missing out on entering.

just checking in and will have a 20 person small fry available (10 must enter, I think a newer rule change might be in effect that nullifies must have 10. dont know and wont waste time asking customer service)

last week combined 81 the week before 90 somethin. You guys think 100 will play? My feeling is more people would enter, some want a small fry and others wont play unless its the big contest. but 100 is an iffy number IMHO.

LOL I like hearing about # of LU’s. Dunzors journey from single entry to multiple entry. I of course have opinions and just wanted to toss out 1 entry is different from max 20 which is different for max150. By Dunzors question (how many) he is learning that there is no right/wrong answer. Its game strategy. When you know your going single, you have your plan of player pool. When you go multi, you evaluate your player pool differently. When you have the salary restrictions, you accept and reject players in your pool. But you only have 20, its so easy to make 1000’s of LU’s.

Sorry superstars, never thought you where a 150 guy but you are a more than 20 on most slates. I think I said you make as many LU’s as you feel are warranted.

Always interested in what Dunzor comes up with in his jouney. He can explain things better than I.

Edit: make a note of the bottom LU’s come next Sunday. Hopefully you get a winner or top 10 but just for grins look at how the worst finished.

That’s true, I’m like at least around 2x the 20 max. I don’t think the strategy is very different between 20 or 50 lineups though.

I want to eat chalk this week. Who am I looking at?

  • cjousma

Sorry guys not going to have time to get cheap Whacks up this week.

From just the eye test I like Adam Long and Si Woo Kim in the PGA.

I like Max Kieffer, Grant Forrest, and Jake McLeod in the Euro.

JT, Finau, and Rory – see if you can squeeze them all into one lineup.

The under 8k tournament mnanci13 has entered so play at your own risk have not seen him respond here on the forum so I assume he is a cheating skunk.

mnanci13, please don’t be that one guy that ruins it for everyone else.

Just in case you don’t understand, the under 8K contest means you select your line up with golfers salary at 7900 and down. Chime in with your thoughts or misunderstandings and we will be good, otherwise this contest will wither on the vine.

  • MrBreeze

Player core – I see many different responses. I can say I have used everyone’s approach one time or another and can never discern an advantage to any of them.

I think it really comes down to your risk aversion. Build a tight core and you are leaning towards feast or famine result, a larger core has a better chance of scoring some cash, but my experience is the mean performance is 50% ROI. I have been using a hybrid approach lately and will be sticking with it for a while. I only build 9-10 entries by hand. I take the 3-4 that I think can win (not T5, but WIN) and insert them in G1 position, then wheel 6-7 that think can T5 in G2 & G3. Then I move to G6 and play the bottom guys I think can make a cut. Then take remaining salary and wheel some middle guys all with some sort of stat advantage that I extract. Occasionally I will end up with two G1’s in the same entry as well.

Hand building was the best thing I ever began doing (thanks Tim for helping me last year get started), you really can just stare at the excel sheet and make an analysis of what you are doing. Even for NFL I hand build now, line up generators cost you money in my opinion. YMMV
