Part 1 of Scandivanian Domination is going well. Now for the No-No boys to get some traction. You’d think they would be from NOrway…

So, datagolf was able to present interesting data for the WGC match play, but can’t figure out anything to show for this team event?

Surprising. But probably tough to get stats on how holes are playing when a bunch of people aren’t finishing out holes. Maybe tomorrow with the alternate shot they will be able to come up with something.

So we will have lineups getting finish position points that miss the cut?

I think the problem is nobody can figure out how to account for a guy picking up his ball. Your partner pars or birdies, no sense you putting for par. How do you take that into account?

I am stumped how to incorporate this event in my spreadsheet…not all the information will line up. Its just screwy when you are quickly looking thru a guys 3 year history and If you sort by 1 stat, you might not get normal correlations.

Edit: personally, I think they shouldnt worry about it, they should score what the team scores and the only stat that gets skewed is putting stats.

They’re actually picking up balls before playing partner has finished. I don’t get that. Even if your partner is done, and you’re happy with his score, the leaderboard still has to put you down for something – how do they determine that if you don’t finish? The other group isn’t giving it to you like matchplay, which actually finishes your score. Seems like they should be finishing their score no matter what.

But, I’m not sure how any of that screws with datagolf. They could have still developed something to show the team scores and still make cut projections. The matchplay thing took a ton of development; doesn’t seem like this would have taken much.

The matchplay seemed to be solely calculated based on how often golfer A beats golfer B on a hole/match (data they already had)

Good work Wes Roach nailing 13 ft birdie putt on last hole to avoid finishing the round over par

Their typical tournament looks at how good a golfer is, what his current score is, how many holes have been played and how many are left, predicts final score, which in aggregate for all golfers then allows them to predict a cut. All they have to do now is take the max “how good golfer is” from each pair, or come up with some other calculation that combines them, and then just do the same thing.

My point wasn’t to compare the style of match-play vs this event, but rather the amount of development time required to present something. This one should be easier.

Joseph Bramlett: Shot 1 177 yds to water, 70 ft 8 in. to hole
Maverick McNealy: Shot 1 177 yds to water, 75 ft 11 in. to hole

    Good teamwork….

Hoag/Hossler is in my only KSDT/Lee lineup. At least they’re ahead of the -2s, like Glover/Reavie.
