QBs are rarely the optimal CPT on DK. These are two of the three or four that can be a CPT choice in the league but it is still unlikely. I like Watson more now as a CPT without Nuk. Before I would always choose Nuk or Fuller as CPT and Watson as U.

  • zeeshan2

keep wanting to put in both QBs and both RBs for the Chiefs and Kelce but then can’t figure out the rest

Don’t sleep on Steven Sims Jr. He established a nice connection with Haskins the final month of last season.

Wow, that’s an excellent name pulI. I must have completely missed his late season break out. Thanks!

I’ve seen plenty of times where the WR placed in the captain (MVP) spot wins the top prize. This is coming from a guy who almost always picks a QB for that spot. I don’t have the percentages though. Your basic premise is correct though.

I guess a WR like Tyreek who may return one for a TD or could get in the end zone on a running play would be able to do it. But even Kelce’s 3 TD game against Houston in the playoffs was not a higher score than Mahomes.

For a QB CPT to hit on DK you really want them to run 1 or 2 in so they can hit the top score and not prop up their pass catchers in the process.

i know people are all on the texans and bring up last year, but last year was with hopkins( watsons favorite receiver since he entered the league and one of the best in the nfl) they don’t have that this year. fuller is not the same kind of route runner as hopkins and cooks is banged up. i would probably think cobb may have a better game. watson loves to hold on to the ball and without hopkins it may even be more so

When its all said and done, as is usual 94.3374840% of the time (yeah I pulled that stat out of thin air but you get the point) there will be a troll td or two that will crush all your dreams of millionaire glory. The worst kind is the soul crushing troll td by the 5th string wr who not only gets one but 2 tds on 2 rec at the beginning of the game ending your day before it even got started.

    Oh my God, soooo true!

QB in the CPT works two ways. Running production or they spread it out so well that they beat their best receiving option.

Generally though one of a QBs receivers will outscore them or be a more optimal choice when salary is accounted for. If a WR has ten catches, or a 100 yards or two scores he usually beats the QB.

Watson’s ability to hold onto the ball way past the point he should is the main reason I’m not actually super concerned about Hopkins leaving. Everything you said is right, Fuller isn’t nearly the route runner that Hopkins is. But most of Fuller’s biggest gains I can recall have been on plays where Watson turns a 2 second route tree into an 8 second scramble and Fuller should thrive in those situations.

I actually have a huge respect for Watson’s quarterbacking ability and think he can overcome the loss of Hopkins fairly easily.

fuller did nothing in the playoffs vs KC and he wasn’t the one had a good game against them in the regular season it was still and the RBs. the texans o line is not great so holding on to the ball is not a good idea. i guess we just see it diff. hopkins had the ability to get open when he wasn’t fuller is not that kind of receiver. if anyone thinks losing hopkins is not going to hurt them then they are underselling hopkins. i could be wrong

edit. stills good game was in the playoffs/ok game fuller had 5/89/0 and 5/44/0

I think Fuller will clear out space tonight for the Stills, Duke, Akins, Cobb crowd. Watson will throw a couple deep to him to keep the safeties back. Im not high on Fuller but admit he will be popular and can break the slate

  • Brendan239

Running Mahomes naked is fairly contrarian as he could run 1 or 2 in and have a couple of short pass TDs to 2 diff WRs. Pat @ C w Watson, DJ, Atkins, Cobb, Butker type of LU could be diff enough. I guess not naked but it’s w a K so cmon.

That could also go the other way with Watson’s rushing ability.

    Watson @ C with 4 KC

i like duke not david and i like cobb and their TEs don’t like stills or fuller and cook is banged up and don’t know how much coutee will play. i could be wrong but that’s just my opinion

The last two games vs KC Wats has run at least one td in. Food for thought.

honestly i think the chiefs have more continuity on offense(except RB position) the texans whole offense is new almost. (no preseason, new RB, 2 new WRs, favorite WR gone) idk if there is going to be much sync there

I was speaking in generalities about the season. Sorry, I wasn’t clear about that. Against KC Fuller is probably a marginal play at best. All good.

Edit – Watson seems to lead the league in games where you think he was average at best, no one seemingly went nuts and then at some point in the 4th quarter you notice he has 400 total yards and 3 TDs.

Take a look a Tyreek’s numbers when he recently played the Texans. He has a path for a huge night. Risk reward the ultimate gpp play.

yea thats why it may be better to play him naked because he runs and he may spread it around based on his number 1 being gone

I like Tyreek on FD where he is cheaper than Kelce. I feel like this game is a shootout with both sides having receivers that can get behind the opposing D. There is a lot of speed on the Houston side, and KC is the fastest in the league.

CPT QB was optimal in 10/52 (19.23%) Showdowns last year. CPT QBs on winning LUs included Brady, Mariota, Trubisky x2, Mahomes x2, Dak, Baker, Lamar x2, and Ryan.

Clearly the list of potential winning CPT QBs is longer than three or four, but it doubtless includes Mahomes and Watson (although CPT Watson notably failed to win all three HOU Showdowns in 2019).

What are ya’lls thoughts on CEH? He’s expensive and he’s never played an NFL game but heard good things about him.

  • mgv1208

It doesn’t show in the box score, but I’m pretty sure Fuller dropped 3 open TDs against KC last yr in the reg. season. If i remember correctly they were pretty routine catches that you’d expect him to make. Add those in and he had a pretty great game vs. KC

I think he will be popular as the “#1 RB” but i’ve heard they plan to ease him into things at the NFL level. This is why Darrel Williams is being touted as a good value play. I believe we will see rookies struggling more out of the gate without the preseason reps.
