NBA DFS on Draftkings Noob here. I have the basics down, anyone know a site where I can learn some advanced tactics? I get that at the end of the day we are all in competition but a little help would be nice. I keep hitting around the 240-250/slate point total and am just missing out on the money, as much as I know you all appreciate the donation to the pot, I would like to keep a little of it.

    Thanks in advance.

    Stats I use:
    MPG
    DVP
    USG

What am I missing, I keep up on the latest alerts, etc.

I like nbawowy.com a lot. It helps to figure out how rosters updates actually affect the team and can help you determine usage rates and rebound percentages when certain players are off the court. I use rebounding % a lot, and +/- stats to determine quality matchups. Minutes are huge as well…look at what Rondo was doing when he was getting nearly 48 per game.

I personally am anti dvp…it’s overrated, never really tells the story, and is the most common stat used by “noobs”.

Most importantly I think lineup construction should be the focus. I like to build my lineups from the ground up; finding the value plays I want to use first. This allows me the flexibility to work different quality players into my lineups, and not to force in the cheap, sub-optimal options.

I’m no expert, but I’m getting better. Hopefully this helps.

Highly recommend the RotoAcademy free and paid courses on NBA – they are very helpful. As jmac said, knowing who is getting the minutes is crucial but you also need to target players who do something with those minutes. Tony Snell can get 30 minutes but if he only averages .5 fp/m then that 15 points doesn’t do you much good. Look for bench players with high usage rates or strong peripherals (defensive stats) that are getting increased minutes.

What I’ve learned so far is that you really have to pay attention to roster updates up until the lock for FD and throughout the night if you can swap out players on sites like DK.

For GPP you have to take risks in order to try and win. When you take risks on punts you will likely get burnt by the majority of them, and even when your punts hit you still have to have your “solid” high priced guys go above their predictions.

It sounds like you may be only using one lineup per night? With only one lineup its really hard to get everything right.

What I’ve learned on here is finding some core players with high floors and high ceilings for the night, and then switching out different punt/mid-range players to try and get the ones that exceed value combined with your core players.

This site has become the one stop shop for me, had subscriptions to FantasyInsider, but late info daily and not much attention to detail made me cancel it and get the incentive subscription here, couldn’t be happier with it.
