2015 FanDuel MLB Playboy Mansion Finalist
Could someone please do me a favor and calculate the “rake” for tonight’s Boston Qualifier as well as the FWBC Qualifier? My TI-82 broke last night.
25*897=22,425 collected
19k in prizes (12.5 entry to the tourny, 4K (presumably) travel prize, 2.5K other cash prizes)
22425-19000=3425 rake
3425/19000=18.026%

What does rake have to do with trying to come in 1st in a qualifier?
That’s not how you calculate the rake
It’s 3425/22425 (rake/total collected)
If it was take/total peizes then that would mean 50/50’s have a 11.11% take
Example for $1 50/50:
Collected: $100 (1*100)
Prizes: $90
Rake $10
10/90= 11.11% – and we all know he rake is 10%
however you want to calc it is fine. you can say they are taking 10% of my entry fee (i pay 10 they take 1) or you can say i am paying an additional 11% for the privilege to play the contest (playing a $9 HU and paying an addition $1 to do so)….really doesnt matter how its calculated

i usually divide the take by the total entry fees. so in the case that you outlined einars, i would do 3425/22425, thats 15.27%
basically the reason you do this is because you want to know how much of their total incoming dollar amount that the site is keeping. not how much of the prize pool are they keeping.
i guess if you want to calculate it your way you can, it just will be telling a different story. Most of the time when rake is mentioned its referred to as a % of the total $$ amount taken
.
That is an insane level of rake one way or the other
.
I have a TI-82!
Not when they don’t even come close to filling
