Sloppy weather early in Cromwell, CT for the Travelers Championship, weekend weather looks much nicer as we close out the tourney.
Thursday – Isolated showers, light winds
AM – Could see some passing light rain, but nothing too heavy. Winds start light, climb gently to 5-10mph sustained by the late morning.
PM – Again still a passing shower chance, but doesn’t look like a major lightning threat. Winds will hold around 10mph sustained through the afternoon.
Friday – Rain early, breezy
AM – Best chance of rain comes early Friday, most of it likely before the earliest tee-times, but still could see showers and storms delaying the start to golf before clearing in the later morning. Winds will start around 5mph early morning, climbing to 10-15mph by the late morning.
PM – Rain will likely be done with by the afternoon, winds should peak around 15mph in the early afternoon, wind gusts around 25-30mph.
Sat & Sun – Saturday will be a bit breezy, neither day has rain worries.
Overall – Kind of conflicting thoughts here on the best way to go about this… Thursday morning is likely the best time to golf, light winds, light rain, it would be ideal to target. That being said, Thursday afternoon isn’t terrible, so there’s no real reason to try to fade it. Friday is tricky, peak winds are likely around noon’ish through the early afternoon. In general AM golfers would avoid some of the worst of wind, plus get to play on a soaked course, but if the AM rain Friday delays tee-times, it pushes those AM golfers in to peak winds. I think I prefer AM Friday and PM Thurs, but it’s not so clear-cut that you need to build every lineup around it.
