DK have been running a lot of inter-league slates recently which is great, and hopefully will push more people into the soccer contests. I feel like the midweek fixtures for the Champions League have always been their best bet for attracting new customers, so they have decided to run a Valentines Special this week for the UCL games.

    Slate (Split over 2 days):

    Feb 14th
    Benfica V Borussia Dortmund
    Paris Saint-Germain V Barcelona

    Feb 15th
    Real Madrid V Napoli
    Bayern Munich V Arsenal

Some great games on this slate, and this is the stage of the UCL which is the most entertaining to watch IMO. With Barcelona playing away at PSG, that game will be great to watch but also provide the biggest decisions from a DFS standpoint.

CR7 being priced at $10.9k will obviously be the other decision.

  • lfn1992

The correct answer was fade CR7 and start… Thiago, LOL

More seriously Robben/Lewdo was in play and I could have done that, and gotten a better defender, which sucks

  • elementasrat

Well…. That was fun!!! How’d you guys do?

  • lfn1992

Assuming all the points are counted I ended at 96 and got a Top 10% finish. Not bad, but my eyes got so big with CR7. Not going with Carvajal/Benzema or Carvajal/Robben will haunt me a little.

It’s not true. Worst thing Arsenal could do is let what happened to Barca yesterday happen to them. 1-0 Bayern is not ideal but it’s much better than 3-0 or 4-0.

Congrats on the qualification! Once I saw you go by I knew I was done…probably a blessing because you saved me the pain of losing by a quarter point.

The good news is it looks like I won my $1 satellite today so I get to do it all over again.

Thanks! I did not even check my results until after the games ended but knew I had to be doing pretty well. Honestly after yesterday I thought I needed a lot of help. But I had A LOT of Alcantara, Lewandowski, Robben, and threw in a share or two of Casemiro. Was fortunate to get the goals from the cheaper guys.

    Stupidity. Pure stupidity.

What if I told you that one of the people that did this was SaahilSud?

If everything holds, I should win $10 in the $4 sweeper. Top 6.5% finish. Ever since tweaking my strategy recently, I’ve been on fire in soccer.

I’ve also gotten really lucky by continually fading the chalk stud forwards on the slate. Ibra last week, Mertens last week, Ronaldo last week, and Ronaldo again this week. I’ll keep on doing it until it bites me in the ass.

Lineup scored 112 DK pts, 41 points out of first place which was Saramek who continues to KILL it.

111.75 for me in the sweeper—that lineup had Trapp instead of Ederson, unfortunately. Cost me $15, it looks like. I suppose I don’t regret varying the two lineups.

3rd in the KOTP qualifier and in the end not close to winning it. It’s a good return on a $1 satellite ticket…which of course probably means about minimum wage on the amount of time I put into those two lineups.

Cashed at the other two sites, too, but those lineups weren’t as good. I don’t think I’ve quite figured out the FD soccer thing yet, and it’s unlikely I’ll ever put in the time to do so. I hate the short slates there.

He puts in 150 lineups so he’s bound to hit the top more than us. But he definitely made some money today because he took 1st and 3rd. That’s a good return even if he didn’t cash a single other lineup (which of course he cashed plenty—I think he’s got 1/3 of the top 50 and he’s less than 1/30 of the lineups in total).

Multi entry definitely helps but his core man….. always a thing of beauty looking at those exposures…. do i sound like a DFS Geek right now?

Anyways, I’m just happy soccer is frequent right now and with MLS around the corner soccer is quickly becoming my favorite DFS sport. Europa League tomorrow too!

I don’t even know why I linked my FD name on here. I haven’t played a paid contest in atleast a year lol. DK’s scoring is much simpler. I’m also just used to DK’s interface. Only site I play on.

Don’t get me wrong; he’s really good. But you do yourself a disservice if you’re single entering and you compare yourself to his best lineup.

Managing more than 10 LUs in just the hour before lock once starting 11s are announced is an absolute shit show for soccer. I can only imagine what 30-50 LUs is like, especially on a slate where you have to prepare your LU for the next day’s games at the same time.

Had everything right except for Alcantara. Broke even.

I sure didn’t think he would be 60% owned in cash on FD. My only mistake all day was not having him there.

I am sure he has some type of optimizer/lineup builder for soccer. No other way to manage/optimize 150 lineups when team sheets/lineups do not come out until an hour before kickoff. That being said, the UCL lineups were pretty predictable for these 4 games at least. So he likely did not have to make too many tweaks. I think James over Lucas Vazquez may have been the biggest surprise. Muller/Costa was a toss up but most sites leaned Costa.

But I know I ran 5 lineups entered in the $40 and $4 GPP’s and each lineup entered in a qualifier or satellite or both. Then also did a lineup for the 2 game slate entered in some GPP’s and satellites. I was definitely scrambling to update my lineups both before initial lock on Tuesday and before kickoff yesterday (and try to get the exposure I wanted), although I just do it manually from my phone. But he had 10 times as many lineups to update.

Not to mention he makes almost zero mistakes. Very rarely see him miss the correct value play or be on the wrong guy, unless it is a punt that doesn’t work out

I haven’t really studied his lineups so I am not really sure. Obviously his core at the top was strong but I am sure he had a lot of below average lineups as well. In a 4 game slate, with that many lineups, depending on your strategy, you can get a wide group of exposure to players.

I had a really good day yesterday, and while my core players were mostly strong, it’s always fun going back and looking at the what I actually ended up with as a scramble to change lineups before lock. I know my biggest mistake is I often go too wide on exposure to both goalies and defenders. Soccer has definitely become my favorite DFS sport though now that College Football and College Basketball are no more.

Having played in Soccer DFS games with him for a very long time (back in UK only websites) I can confirm the guy will always be top 5 in both GPP and Cash.

Newbies – There are few players you should study more than him if you want to get sued to Soccer DFS

Bigo_1, BlenderHd, Old_T, pewpewpew, fear the turtle, and redcoat are probably the others. You also have Ibasso and Juanpi

Don’t know if anyone is even playing, but LUs just got announced for the Early slate of Europa League

My question at this stage is always: what to do with teams like Copenhagen and Shakhtar that are on break and haven’t played a competitive match in a couple of months?

Be wary would be my first thought. Personally they aren’t the teams I am targeting anyway so it is less of an issue.

Augustinsson is always worth a look though

  • SelfCharmer

I am also pretty sure any US players or people form other sports are just looking like this when rostering players in the Europa League

  • aengel927

Im a huge Spurs fan but i think Gent will fare okay against us today, and at 3800 with Def eligibility, Foket is lining up in the midfield and is a very good young player
